Seriously. Anonymosity is a crutial matter in time and situations when christians are persecuted. It affects our confession.

But that is really silly idea to demand every one to show his real name.

Sorry Abmer. I can not be on the same side with your claim.

Tell that to John was deep fried 3 times. Then they realized that they were only promoting the gospel. They stuck him out on Island where he wrote the book of revelations. Tell that to the Christians that burnt at the stake to light Romes arenas

Can not see link beetwen tortures of John and the real names. Our faith demand us always confess our Christianity, but do not demand us alwys proclaim our real names.

Even the Lord promise us new names (written in forehead) in heavenly kingdom.
And stil:
1) Suspectfull interest to real identification (via forum) may reflect interests of our enemies (for making database).
2) It is internet. NO GUARANTEE that the publicated names are real. (even in case of Amber. We can not know what it is her real name and her real photo).
3) In church services is common to use christian names given in baptising (indeed you do not call Paul as Saul, though it is his real name. Neither you are trying to clear up his surename).

The idea is silly and suspectfull.

Okay, the little girl at columbine when the shooter put the gun in her face and said deny Christ. She said no and he put a bullet through her brain. Is that sufficient.

More Scripture!

2 Chronicles 35:22 But Josiah refused to listen to Neco, to whom God had indeed spoken, and he would not turn back. Instead, he disguised himself and led his army into battle on the plain of Megiddo. 23 But the enemy archers hit King Josiah with their arrows and wounded him. He cried out to his men, "Take me from the battle, for I am badly wounded!" 24 So they lifted Josiah out of his chariot and placed him in another chariot. Then they brought him back to Jerusalem, where he died. He was buried there in the royal cemetery. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for him.

You better know who you are listening to!

Just Scripture.

John 12:46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

Yes...Heb13:2Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

It says you won't know that they are angels. Not that they are anonymous.

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 3:21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Matt 6:5"When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 6"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

Can God protect?
If He can, does the dark side of government already know your I.P. address?
If they do, what are you worried about?
Is some infidel going to look you up?
Honestly, buy a gun if you are so worried.
Then you can blast your new neighbor who is introducing themselves on your doorstep for suspicion's sake.
Either God is in control or He's not.
With that sort of fear no one will ever preach to the lost....because they might actually persecute you!!!
- (And God doesn't tell you to expect that).
- - Buy a gun, - the great equalizer.
Yes God can protect, and will. But you have to be ready for it. Right now, I can point to 'many' people who have watched my facebook page and are now laying waste to my decision, or my 'saving', rather. If anyone wants to see it first hand - I'll gladly point it out privately. Becoming a Christian in front of, well, say, the other side, is no small measure. They are out there, and they hate you because of the light you have in him. Christ told us that many would be killed in his name. I never take off my cross...and I walk proudly with it. But if you want to see hate - just profess Christ to the wrong people.

That is specifically about prayer.

What an ANGEL. I have asked God this and he loves us, he only wants us to do what we know we have the strength to do, not for fear of his wrath. He wants us to profess in faith.

But she is a saint in my book....what a powerful story that is.

John 3:1 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council.2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."

Nicodemus wasn't afraid to say to Jesus Himself that he believed. He came under the cover of darkness to hide his identity from the people!! So that people didn't know that he, of all people, Nicodemus, was going to Jesus. He was afraid to associate his identity with Jesus.

Luke 9:26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Darkness leaves room for sin and an anonymous identity is a hiding place where people can't see you.

I wouldn't say that...I consider myself a Christian but I don't go around opening doors for little old ladies and saying, "hi I'm SUCH and SUCH and I'm just being kind to you because I'M A CHRISTIAN." What are you actually asking in your topic? Is it important for you to be recognized by name and as a Christian? That to me borders on pride.

I would NEVER use or give out my real name on the internet!! The internet is a very dark, dangerous place and this Monica Dennington is urging us to use our real identities online. I believe we can be unanimous in being christians online without having to divulge our real names. God knows who we are behind our user names. I can be just as effective a christian under an anonymous screenname as I can under my own name. Just because we use screen names doesnt mean that we are ashamed of God--that is ridiculous to even assume. I think Monica Dennington needs to mind her own business and let people use whatever name they want while on the internet. I would'nt want someone I dont know sending me a pm or email saying "hi Lisa (not my real name btw) how are you". It's bad enough that we are spied on every time we get online. Why should we have to use our real names at all? I think its a preference for most people. Just because we choose to remain anonymous, does not mean that we're ashamed to be christians. :)
