To me by what the bible states the same principle would apply in this case as it does with food and political voting.

The bible states that if you vote for and support a person who's agendas are against his then you make yourself guilty of sin by supporting that person. Then when it comes to food it says to eat anything served and ask no questions as your conscious would be clean, but if the person serving it says it was offered to idols then we are not to touch and eat it.
This principle would apply to music to me, that if you are listening to the music and you do not know the person is gay then you are cleared of sin. But if you know the person is gay and you continue to listen to their music, and buying their songs or CD's then you are supporting their lifestyle.

I know the U.S. teaches the division of church and state, however the bible teaches us not to disregard His ways for mans ways......
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s actually okay to eat food sacrificed to idols, but the problem Paul talked about was a mature believer eating meat sacrificed to idols and a weaker believer seeing that, doubting, and violating his conscience by proceeding to eat the meat (see 1 Corinthians 8). Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong or anything of course ☺️ [this reply has been edited]

Before I knew Sam Smith was gay, I listened to his music "Stay With Me" and such. But then, I started wondering.. Is it okay for Christians to listen to songs sung by gay people? And also Sam Hunt (country singer), "Love Me Like You Do" from 50 shades of grey (will not watch it). I listen to their music and apply it in a different way. I mean, they may be singing about gay relationships but I interpret it in a different way. If I hadn't ever watched the music video, I wouldn't even have the thought of two men together when listening to that song. Is it wrong to listen to the music of gay artists? I mean, I'm not supporting gay rights or anything, just the music and the lyrics.
George Washington was a slave owner, should I not keep any one dollar bills?
(and no I am not for removing George Washington from the bill!) Owning slaves is not loving your neighbor as yourself. And so this is sin.

We are to spiritually separate from the world. We are not to literally separate from the world.

Is it wrong to listen to the music of gay artists?
Willie Nelson sang, "To All The Girls I've Loved Before." My question is . . . what's the difference between music sung by gay artists and music sung by prolific, sexual machines like Willie Nelson? Is it better for a straight man to have sex with a hundred women than it is for a gay man to have sex with just one man throughout his life?

Tis a good question.

In truth no one has the right to tell you what you should listen to. So much music is not bad or evil just no life in it. Everything in Creation worships praises Him. But me.. its like.. what am I doing.. I could be listening to something that gives glory to my Father. . .thats in everything I do. I die daily so He can live through me.

If you don't feel comfortable, don't listen to it.

There was a song in the '70's when I was a little kid. I have heard it sense. It's YMCA. I hear they were gay, and the song is kind of gross if you know that.

Someone said that Sponge Bob was made by a homosexual. Mr. Krabs, Crabby Paddy...I wonder if these represented people that the creator new. Someone told me 'talk to the hand' was a gay thing. I saw a few episodes of Sponge Bob many years ago and saw one of them say that. Sponge Bob lives with the Star Fish dude. I guess they are roommates. The live in bikini bottom. Mr. Krabs is in Bikini bottom, too. Lots of gross little sexual jokes. I won't even mention the competing restaurant to Mr. Crabs restaurant.

I have not paid too much attention to the sexual preferences of singers, actors, entertainers, etc. Many famous entertainers have been homosexual or possibly bisexual such as Rock Hudson, Marlon Brando, James Dean, Sal Mineo, etc. It is not a recent phenomena. I think we should just judge them based on how well they are singing or acting, etc.

None of that is true. The creator of sponge Bob worked at an aquarium and began the project as a kids program to interest them In that part of the aquarium. Sponge Bob lives next door to patric star not with. Bikini bottom is a reference to the bikini atoll, and it's a butt joke, not sexual at all. And chum bucket is a reference to chumming the waters to catch fish in nets, the bait is literally called chum, and it's literally chopped up fish and blood and guts.

As far as entertainment goes you don't have much choice, so I would just be aware of the content and context. The church isn't producing any quality entertainment, and I'm not so sure that it is the churches job to do so.

Well if the creator I regret suggesting the idea is not gay. But I am inclined to think any innuendo on TV, especially a show that involves a large team, is on purpose.

The creator denies any sexual nature or inclination to sponge or any of the characters. Sponge Bob is a sponge and is asexual, (sponges in nature are asexual), and is also the likeness of a child, everything in his world is the object of fun and games. Butt jokes are funny to children.
The crab has a daughter that is a whale. It is just silliness. His enemy is a single plankton that has a computer wife. I think that it is utter foolishness that I have to defend a child's cartoon to adults on a Christian forum.
My children we young at the height of the spongebob popularity, I watched it many times with my kids and never saw anything homosexual about it.
Cheesy and weird sure enough, but so silly and fun. It is one show I didn't have to worry about this stupid nonsense that has to be now.

It could just be because someone told me that, I interpreted the show through that lens. My impression of the show was still that it did not really teach any good values and was a bit obnoxious, not the best cartoon for kids. Butt jokes might be funny for kids, but that doesn't mean it's good for them to watch it.

Still, Mr. Crabs in Bikini Bottom. There had to be a team to put this together, and someone could see those connections, whether it has anything to do with anyone being gay or not.
