I believe in your recitation, also. But I don't go around calling Mary the mother of God and directing my prayers and the prayers of my family towards her.

You see how that can be counterproductive in the fight against Arianism?
I don't see how it's counter-productive. The Saints were never an issue during the entire Arian incident.

What you call heresy and what I think are heresy are two different things. We should probably try to come up with a different word for it.
The Trinity is the most non-negotiable part of Christian doctrine, even to protestants.

I'll say it to anyone who places more importance on their physical building and their physical leaders than they do the Lord Jesus.
Nope not the buildings, but the Faith itself.

I actually like the structure and rigidity. That way I don't wonder if it is a trick of the pastor playing on my feelings. I know it must be the Holy Spirit.

What I don't like is the sense of superiority the catholic church and her parishioners seem to have over everyone else in the world. You know, "we can do it because we are infallible but everyone else is in error" attitude.
So often it seems to hold true though. Charismatic Christianity has spun off in so many directions in such a short span of time it's astounding.

Of course you are going to play down Luther, you have to, its what you were taught.
Actually I was taught those things during an AP European history class during our 4 month section on the reformation. Protestant histories often play Luther up as a monumental "fight the power" sort of figure, which is not what he was when you read his personal correspondence.

One of the first examples pointed out was how the "Nailing of the Theses" was portrayed in art, which usually showed a dramatic moment of defiance. When the whole event was more like a professor posting a discussion request to a bulletin board.

Basically the whole point was that the reality of Luther, and the Protestant Hagiography developed around him are two very different things.

1. Like I said earlier, I don't have any problems with Jesus or Mary being the mother of Jesus. I have problems with people who pray to Mary calling her the mother of God and queen of heaven. Do you see?
2. We have the bible. We have lots of verses that contest what the catholics say about Mary.
3. I still agree with you agreeing with me on this one...
4. Ok. Which of Luthers 95 theses do you find incorrect?
5. see #2.
1. Then you deny Jesus is god? Cuz if Jesus is god, and Mary is Jesus mother,...how are they wrong?
2. There are different interpretations, I happen to agree with you on this one, but I Probly disagree with u on others, but, if God personally told the pope that he's wrong, he would most likely belive God over tradition
3.
4. I haven't read them, but, as I am not Lutheran, I Probly disagree with at least 5

You don't see how calling Mary the mother of God and the Queen of Heaven and directing your prayers to her could cause some people to see the Lord Jesus as a lesser God?

We'll just have to draw our own conclusions on that one...

1. That's easy. God didn't have a mother, the part of Jesus that is God wasn't birthed. The flesh part of Jesus was birthed. God has been around a lot longer than Mary so she couldn't have given birth to Him...
2. So you are excusing the Catholic church and their pope based on their being different interpretations of God's Word? They claim to be infallible, you know...
4. I don't know why we are still discussing this.

Brethren, we have a situation here that is inappropriate. Rules are being broken. Note:
2. No conduct that is offensive or counterproductive to fellowship.
We like to welcome all to Christian Chat, but if anyone is not here for fellowship (or for wanting to know about Christianity), but simply for disrupting fellowship, offending people, whatever, then that person is not welcome.
