no. don't reject mary. just don't worship her. whoever follows jesus and loves the father loves his children also.
the catholics go wrong worshiping/serving many idols and demonic doctrines. don't worship/serve and idols, nor mary, nor paul, not apollos, nor cephas.... ONLY JESUS.

catholics that say they don't worship / serve idols/demons don't know rcc teachings and practice. they might actually not be condemned -- only Yahweh knows their heart .... that is until they open their mouth.

How does one obtain forgiveness of their sins? Why is it necessary? One must be more than just religious to enter into eternal life with Christ.
Have you met my parents? I guess not. So who are you to judge the sincerity of their faith?

Matthew 7:21-23
[SUP]21 [/SUP] “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
[SUP]22 [/SUP] On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
[SUP]23 [/SUP] And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Lumberjack this is what notuptome is talking about. Just because a Catholics SAYS they are praying to God does not mean they are following God as their Lord. Going to Church means nothing if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and do not do the Will of the Father
No offense but same could be said about [certain] protestants. Again I believe that my parents' faith is honest, I'm just not so sure about my own.

it doesn't matter if protestants or buddhists or nihilists or republicans are all lost,

catholicism is heresy, no matter what anything else is. i.e. just because anyone or even everyone else is

wrong, will not excuse a catholic on judgment day.

Catholicism is heresy because the Catholics put their Traditions about Mary above the very Word of God. The Scriptures are the ultimate authority because we have received the Scriptures from God not from the Catholics.

Yes we can judge lumberjack. We can judge the teachings of the Catholic Church and that is what we are doing. We are not judging men, we are judging the teachings of evil men.

Yes, there are some Protestants who do not follow God just like there are lots of Catholics who do not follow God and unfortunately your parents might be one of them.

Worshiping Mary is Heresy! All who follow Mary, pray to Mary, have anything to do with Mary are Heretics and will not be allowed to enter into Heaven. I know for a fact Catholics make Mary greater than God.

Out of curiosity, has anyone read Dr. Philip Jenkin's (e.g. Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of the Humanities in history and religious studies at Penn State University and as Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Institute for Studies of Religion at Baylor University) 'The New Anti-Catholicism: The Last Acceptable Prejudice'?

God knows your parents and God knows you. God said in the book of Romans that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God said that there are none who are righteous and all have gone out of the way. God also said that the wages of sin is death. Only by the gift of God can one have forgiveness of their sin.

God has already rendered His judgment and all are become guilty before Him. Reconciliation is only through the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross of Calvary.

Same is true for you. If ALL have sinned that's all the more reason not to judge anybody.

think about it. if you know the judge, and IF he tells you his judgment,
then who is the judge ? COOL --- HE IS.... and HE tells HIS sons what HIS judgment is, and it is always right and just.

naturally, he won't tell pagans nor heathens nor heretics what he tells his sons. (it's all in the book -- his book. you call it BIBLE; try reading it... HE MIGHT let you in if you ask HIM - HE IS THE JUDGE, HE DECIDES. HE SAYS CLEARLY roman catholicism is heresy- it is opposed to HIM...)...

It's the mark of an immature believer to confuse judgement with discernment.

Biblical Discernment description;

In its simplest definition, discernment is nothing more than the ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong. Discernment is the process of making careful distinctions in our thinking about truth. In other words, the ability to think with discernment is synonymous with an ability to think biblically.
First Thessalonians 5:21-22 teaches that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be discerning: "But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil." The apostle John issues a similar warning when he says, "Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1). According to the New Testament, discernment is not optional for the believer-it is required.

Contrary to your accusations I'm not judging just showing you from the word of God what is what. God has already rendered His judgment. It's not my judgment. Like Jesus said you are judged already. John 12:47-48

I already accepted God's judgment and sought reconciliation through Christ.

amein. ditto.

you are so confused. can't you read english? don't judge. listen to THE ONE JUDGE and TRUST HIM AND BELIEVE HIM. that is exactly what JESUS told HIS DISCIPLES....

also -
neither immediately , nor ever assume ---

if you read and understood the bible you wouldn't think there is any good thing to be found in catholicism.

if God permitted you to know the truth (and you will never know if He doesn't permit you to), you would know it is heresy, just as the bible says.

I'm sorry, I see know that Roger and Jeff are the sole possessors of truth.
you could know the truth also, if God Permits. not if you believe in heresy that is and always has been
completely against JESUS, HIS people, and Scripture, though.

think about it, if God Permits. God's Word and rcc are contrary, entirely, to each other.

we(all of us who God Permits in His Grace to be saved) just listen to the Author of Life and His Word.

Note that you are on a site that is run by Christians who have stated plainly that they agree with the BIBLE and with JESUS that rcc is heresy.....

see the first post of this thread if there are any questions, and ask God to let you know the truth. simple.

..........

So for the record, Catholicism is heresy. ....
Mary WAS A SINNER.......
She is NOT the "mother of God". God has no mother, because God is God. Yes Jesus is God, and Mary was his mother, but we have to understand the dual nature of Jesus. He was 100% God yes, and also 100% man. Mary was his mother as a man, not as God. No where does the scripture refer to Mary as the "mother of God". And in fact, she's not even mentioned in all the epistles. All the New Testament instruction to the church is all about Jesus, not Mary. They never said "hail Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners". They always said JESUS .. JESUS... JESUS.

This is preaching to the choir for most people here. But it regularly happens that we start to accumulate Catholics here who really promote and argue their Catholicism, along with all the heresy.

So for the record, if anyone wants or needs to hear it, we don't agree with Catholic heresy.
And yes it is heresy to exalt any other human being as sinless to the same level as Jesus (as the Catholics do with Mary -- they actually teach that Mary was sinless like Jesus!!!), and put equal focus on a person other than Jesus.

It really doesn't matter. The OP already stated what this site believes and backs it up with scripture (yes, a site may be wrong when it goes against scripture too, but in this particular topic, the OP is supported by scripture). Let's move on and not promote Catholic doctrine.

Catholic teachings do go against the bible. People in the past have said that there are Catholics who are born again and will be saved. I do know many who were in the Catholic Church and became born again... They just left the Catholic church after. IF one is born again, the Holy Spirit will not leave people in a cesspool of false doctrine and a false gospel. He will lead them out :)

People also like to focus on what is similar between groups in an ecumenical attempt to bring people together.

John 4:24 NKJV
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth

Galatians 1:6-8 NKJV
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

2 John 1:9-11 NKJV
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

There are many more scriptures in this regard, but the point is clear. We cannot yoke and mingle with error. If people bring another doctrine and gospel, we cannot yoke with them, but we can give them the truth.

Why can't we just all get along? We can when we are united in truth and not in error. To agree to disagree is one thing, but to say we are the same and yoke when our doctrine is so different is not acceptable.

catholics that say they don't worship / serve idols/demons don't know rcc teachings and practice. they might actually not be condemned -- only Yahweh knows their heart .... that is until they open their mouth.
Jeff, I know this is a nice sentiment that many people believe in, but I would like to direct your attention to the following scripture regarding false teachers IN the church and the effect they have on those who follow (are overcome) by them.

______________________________________________
2 Peter 2:12-22 NKJV
Depravity of False Teachers
12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, 13 and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet. 17 These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.[c]

Deceptions of False Teachers
18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped[d] from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,”[e] and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”
_______________________________________________

The first thing we have to recognize here is this. These false teachers are spots and blemishes in our love feasts as they dine with us. These false teachers are in the Church today. They have forsaken the right way, meaning they have turned away from the way that is correct to a path that is in error. As a result, they are reserved for the blackness of darkness forever, which means hell.

Secondly, by the words they use and the doctrine they spout, they allure people by flesh and lewdness. Verse 19 shows that these false teachers promise the people they ensnare a false "liberty" even though the teachers themselves are slaves of corruption. However the 2nd part of verse 19 is horrifically clear that the people the false teachers overcome (bring under their tutelage) are brought into the bondage of these false teachers.

So who are these people who are overcome by the false teachers?
Verse 18 shows that these people "have actually escaped from those who live in error."
Verse 20 shows that these people "have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"
This is speaking about people who have been taken out of the world and come to Christ, ie, born again believers.
Returning back to verse 19, these born again people who have escaped the ways and error of the world are allured by these false teachers back into the pollution and error they had previously left. In addition they are brought into the bondage of these false teachers, and we know what the end result is for these false teachers.

If we ask then... are there people who are born again in the Catholic Church?, the answer is yes, there may be, but they will leave. Why? The Holy Spirit will lead them out. Is there danger in them staying in this church? Well, verses 18-20 are clear about the danger. If we stay under the guidance of a false teacher, we are "overcome" by them and brought into bondage of those false teachers. There is a serious consequence for doing so as shown by the scripture above.

This applies for all false teachers as well, not specifically the Catholic Church.

Lumberjack, its those who have the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit who have the Truth. We also have the Indwelling Of Jesus Christ in us! The Truth is from God and the Truth is God! There is no Truth in the Catholic Church today lumberjack.

John 1:14
[SUP]14 [/SUP] And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 14:6
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 16:13
[SUP]13 [/SUP] When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

We have the Truth because we have the Indwelling of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who teaches us in all the Truths in the Scriptures. We have NO need for the Catholic Church nor do we need anything from your Mary!
