Oi, quite a thread. To speak factually, both sides got blood on their hands. The Roman System has killed many in the name of Christ in the pretense of Holy War and they have adopted very torturous means of interrogation to the point where people would actually confess to crimes they did not commit just for it to end. The Protestant system has killed many as well, most noticeably "heretics", usually by what they learned from the Roman Church, and innocent women who were accused of being witches. The Roman Church has a lot of erred doctrines and idolatries, and so does the Protestant Church, 40,000 versions.. The Roman Church has the image of Jesus, the Protestant Church has the image of the cross. Idk, to me they both aren't good. Catholics has warred against Protestants, Baptists vs Pentecostals, Trinitarians vs Oneness, Eternal Security vs Conditional Security, so on and so on and so on. There is absolutely no Unity, the very Unity the Lord prayed for His disciples, that we would be one as He is one with the Father.
Isn't that a problem? Even in this thread Protestants and Catholics war against each other, traditions vs faith, father vs preacher, catechism vs bible, yet they both claim to serve the Lord Christ in His name, but there is so much division and fighting, so much conflict in doctrines and practices, so much confusion in the name and identity of the Lord.
We either rely on the Pope as Vicar of Christ, or our own understanding of the Scriptures. Why don't we instead ask the Spirit what's true, since He is the Spirit of Truth, the true Vicar of Christ, and the Breather of the Scriptures? Doesn't Proverbs 1 promise that if we turn unto the Wisdom of God, She'll make Her words known to us and pour Her Spirit upon us?
That's all I have to say concerning this topic.
