Verified apparitions including Fatima suggest different. By the way, we are not required to believe these. I have made my own mind up as to the visitations..I know you will make fun of this statement, but its what I believe
As you say there was no apparition it was merely tricks of the sun on the human eye.

Where in Mark 14:22-24 does Jesus say it is figuratively ? How about any other account of the Last Supper? Do they say it is figuratively?
'This do in REMEMBRANCE.' That does not suggest a REAL presence

Valiant, I lack your cut-paste-quoting skills.
that's ok :)

You are right that much of the dogma dividing RCs and Proddies does not arise from "scripture" - but far from all.
They do try to justify their stance on penance, confession, transubstantiation
perhaps they do but they fail miserably.

and a whole heap of other stuff on their version of the bible.
you mean the parts that Jesus did not recognise?

All those sects which you say distort the scripture actually supports my case - what you call 'distort', others call 'interpretation'.
No like the RCs they claim additional 'revelation'. That is distortion.

Of the denominations I listed, and there are hundreds (or even thousands) more, half-an-hour's Googling will reveal basic differences even on the means of salvation - probably not considered 'minor' by many.
well we do not know of such things over here. but Scripture is quite clear on the way of salvation. if people close their eyes to it is not because Scripture is unclear.
................................................................................................................................

You might be surprised how many Christians believe in reincarnation. Perhaps not many as part of their church dogma - but belief nonetheless.
but not because they have been deceived by Scripture. Scripture gives no suggestion of reincarnation

One survey (which I could probably track down if you insist) reckons 30%-40%.
Sooo? your argument was that Scripture was not clear. Scripture is every clear on the matter.

LOL if you take your survey among reincarntionists you will get 100 % so what would that mean? unless you know the full basis of the survey, a survey means nothing.

Several Christian denominations which support reincarnation include the Christian Community, the Liberal Catholic Church, Unity Church, The Christian Spiritualist Movement, the Rosicrucian Fellowship, The Orthodox Catholic Church and others.
I actually was quite involved in one such group for several years.
LOL all recognised heresies. you did mix with some queer folk.

And there is some biblical support for it
"This is the one ... there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist.... And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. He who has ears, let him hear." (Matthew 11:11-15).

"And the disciples asked him, saying, 'Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?' But he answered them and said, 'Elijah indeed is to come and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also shall the Son of Man suffer at their hand.' Then the disciples understood that he had spoken of John the Baptist." (Matthew 17:10-13)
"But I tell you, Elijah has come." (Mark 9:13)

LOL next you will be saying that the fact that Jesus was 'David' meant He was reincarnated? Scripture makes clear that John came 'in the Spirit and power of Elijah'. Only people with sad minds would gain the wrong impression (extreme literalists)

"And as he was passing by, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, 'Rabbi, who has sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?" Jesus answered, 'Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents, but the works of God were to be made manifest in him.'" (John 9:1)

Not reincarnation but pre-birth sin in the womb, 'I was shapen in iniquity'

Malachi 1:2-3and Romans 9:11-13 both state that God loved Jacob, but hate Esau even before they were born.
These verses are highly suggestive of the pre-existence of Esau, a necessary tenet associated with reincarnation.

Nonsense it simply shows God election. it suggests NOTHING about reincarnation.

Also, Josephus tells us that both the Essenes and the Pharisees were into reincarnation.

Soooo? Not on the basis of Scripture.

As were the esteemed church fathers Origen, St Jerome and others - and the Gnostics and later the Cathars.
Origen was a Gnostic and a gross heretic. Jerome was not a reliable guide. None of these got their positions from Scripture.
so how does this show that Scripture is unclear?

Good Lord ! It's 2.30am (Friday) here and I haven't been to bed yet .....
so just an easy one first.

Newsflash, old mate.
Jesus didn't "recognise" any of it.
None of it was written till long after his demise - mostly (if not entirely) by people who had never met or spoken to him.

Are you for real Pumicestone?

Who do you say wrote the Scriptures Pumicestone?

Do you not know or not care that the Scriptures was written by the Holy Spirit?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
[SUP]16 [/SUP] All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
[SUP]17 [/SUP] that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

All the Scriptures came from God through the writers who were writing what God told them.

Sounds to me Pumicestone that you really do not know anything about God and His Book the Bible.

Jesus IS God Pumicestone!

Its not MY version or YOUR version or the Catholic version that matters Punicestone.

ITS WHAT GOD SAYS IN THE SCRIPTURES THAT IS THE TRUTH!

Where in the Scriptures Pumicestone does God say Mary was without sin? Its not in the Scriptures. Therefore the Catholics version of the Scriptures is a false one Pumicestone because the Catholics teach Mary was without sin.

Where in the Scriptures Pumicestone does God say Mary was assumed into Heaven? Its not in the Scriptures. Therefore the Catholics version of the Scriptures is a false one Pumicestone because the Catholics teach Mary was assumed into Heaven.

Where in the Scriptures Pumicestone does God say Mary is helping God bring Salvation to the people? Its not in the Scriptures. Therefore the Catholics version of the Scriptures is a false one Pumicestone because the Catholics teach Mary is helping God to bring Salvation to the people.

Another thing they teach Pumicestone is that only Mary by being without sin could keep Jesus Christ free from sin, but yet Mary's Mother did not have to be without sin to keep Mare from sin. Do you see how the Catholics have made Mary equal to and greater then God?

This is why we True Christians need to bring the Gospel of Salvation to the Catholics who do not have the Truth in them.

You may call it bulling Pumicestone, but I call it trying to save their Souls from the Lake of Fire.

Where two or more are gathered, Jesus Christ is with them.

Matthew 18:20
[SUP]20 [/SUP] For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

Sorry Valiant but Jesus Christ is there with the breaking of the bread.

Does this mean what the Catholics teach is True? No. It just means Jesus is with us when we break bread.

Sorry, you don't have a valid consecration, so for you it is just a cracker and grape juice and a symbol

You do a very good job at distorting scriptures to come up with the conveluded OSAS. It is nowhere in scripture , yet you say it is. You also distort scriptures to say you will fly away. No biblical evidence for this "rapture" you espouse. See you distort scripture to say what YOU want it to say! Of course with no authority you can do that

Does not suggest a symbol. "This is my body..........This is my blood"
Jesus took a bread and say this is my body.

Mean symbol.

If it is in letter, than Jesus cut His body into 13 peaces and said this is my body.

And I believe the apostles will not drink the blood, because Jew not drink the blood.

Here is the proof for the Rapture but I do know you will reject it mwc68 because the Catholic Church rejects it.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
[SUP]13 [/SUP] But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
[SUP]16 [/SUP] For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Salvation.

Acts 2:21
[SUP]21 [/SUP] And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.'

Acts 2:47
[SUP]47 [/SUP] praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Romans 10:9-10
[SUP]9 [/SUP] that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
[SUP]10 [/SUP] For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Ephesians 2:5
[SUP]5 [/SUP] even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

If we receive Salvation by calling on the Lord how can we lose our calling on the Lord and lose our salvation?

If we receive Salvation by confessing with our mouth how can you unconfess and lose our Salvation?

If we receive Salvation by Grace then what will cause us to lose Grace and lose our Salvation?

Sorry mwc68 but just because you follow what the Catholic Church says does not mean you have any Truth in you. Its what God says in the Scriptures that counts, not what the evil Catholic Church says. There is NO Salvation found in the Catholic Church because the Catholic Church was created by sinful men and not by God. Today the Catholic Church follows and Worships Mary as their God.

Does not suggest a symbol. "This is my body..........This is my blood"
But only a simpleton could think it WAS His body and blood. He was IN His body and His blood was flowing through His veins. And He was in front of them. They could see Him. The Apostles knew that very well. They KNEW that He could not mean it literally. It was to be a remembrance.

Do you know what the words replaced? 'This is the bread which our fathers' ate when they were redeemed from Egypt'. But it was not REALLY that bread. It was a remembrance. In the same way the bread of Passover became a remembrance.

nothing is impossible with God! Transubstantiation was declared by the Council of Trent. I will take this Council over the Council of Valiant any day

Now you are simply being childish. We have the authority of Scripture by which all must be measured. Paul clearly said that at the Last Day those who were still alive would be changed and would be caught up to meet Him in the air. I wouldn't mock God's revelation if I were you. As for Christ's promise of eternal security to those who are truly His, it is written so clearly in Scripture that only the blind and unbelieving fail to see it. Perhaps you should open your eyes and ask to be able to see,

Several have pointed out to you with scriptures that OSAS is a pipedream on other threads. The Last day is the Last Day. no pretrib, whatever , rapture. The Lord comes back on the Last Day at the end of time. This is biblical

LOL you mean nothing is impossible with the Roman Catholic church. They can use hocus pocus to turn bread into flesh, and water into wine, and then convince superstitious fools to believe it. They even hang it up in a casket so people can worship it and call it the reserved sacrament. How obscene. The Council of Trent was a Council of Lies. I prefer the words of our Lord Jesus Himself.
