Thanks for all who gave your opinion on part 1

Heres my question this time: What do the gifts do for you that
cant be done without them?

Im not talking about the different abilities we receive as we are placed into the body
Or the grace we receive daily. I mean the manifestations in 1 Cor 12. Since this is
a point of dispute in the church, id like to know what the benefits are realized by
those who practice them.

Ive seen those who believe in the use of these gifts get from angry to show pity on
those who do not believe they are valid, and it interests me to know what value they
have that others without them wouldnt have. thanks:)

Not really sure how to answer this, partly because I dont fully understand the question I guess, The only one thing that stands out in my mind is it humbles me. Im not a very humble person in my daily life I admit, I need to work on that. I wouldnt say I " practice"????? a gift, is just that a gift. I dont wake up and decide " Well today , I think im gonna pray in tongues".....hm, sorry, maybe my answer was no help.

Ok ill say it clearer. What specific benefit is there ...as they say...operating the gifts in 1 cor 12.
That those who dont would not have the benefit of.

As far as humility goes. That comes from the grace God gives to let us see our true selves before Him.

What specific benefit is there ...You know Abiding, I never really asked God what the benefit for me was, I just figured it was something he wanted me to have. Im bein as honest as I can here, I cant speak for others, Im not saying he only gives certain ppl certain things either before somebody gets their knickers in a knot, As far as " gifts" go and folks deciding what theirs must be, I just cry. Thats what I do....call it what you will, may not even be relevant ...anyhoo, I know you ask out of sincerity, so I try to reply in kind.

If possible Im hoping people can state their personal thoughts here without getting teased or mocked, there are plenty of threads that
have that covered.

So it seems the word charismatic has negative connotations. I find that rather annoying. Kinda like racism..i guess you could call it denominationism..saying negative things about about a denomination out of ignorance or just the petty desire to be right

Wow what a topic. The gifts of the Holy Spirit.Proverbs 21:14 HCSB (scofield study bible) A secret gift soothes anger, and a covert bribe, fierce rage." Now at face value like me you prolly say Huh what does that have to do with anything. Ecclesiastes 5:18-20, Numbers 18:5-7, Matthew 5:21-26, Matthew 7:11 HCSB (scofield study bible) "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him."

Read Romans chapter 1 for a very interesting view on gifts.

I believe and can atest that manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit do exist. I however do not see them as like some do. For instance I do not personally think you are given a gift and then thats like a card you put in your pocket. I believe and have seen in my life that God equips those for whom he has a mission and you don't always have the same mission or the same gift active.

For example the gifts I have today I do not believe are the same ones i had 5 years ago, are 10 years ago, or 17 years ago when I was saved for that matter. I think that God equips you for whatever he is doing where ever you maybe. I compell you to open your eyes and look around your community sometime. I can tell for a fact God is doing something there. So instead of trying to get God involved in what your doing. Why don't you get involved in what God is doing then you will see the Holy Living Spirit of God Almighty and you will be equiped for the work he has for you. Time is so short, believe you me God has jobs for everyone. Praise God

1 Corinthians 12:8 "For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;"

We see here that God gives people a 'word of wisdom' this means that someone could recieve a 'word of wisdom' from someone with this gift. God's wisdom is like proverbs and is true wisdom. It also says a word of knowledge; someone could recieve knowledge from someone with this gift. The Bible is full of knowledge.

12:9 "To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;"

God gives some people the gift of faith. They have more faith than other people. I believe this would inspire people to believe. The gift of healing is mentioned. People could be healed by someone with the gift of healing. God doesn't use everyone to heal people. But we do read that apostles and such men had the gift of healing. Acts 5:15 "Insomuch that they brought forth the sick in to the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them."

Chapter 12 continues with more that happens in the Spirit that we can profit from. These are just a few.

Him sorry Abiding yea your right i didn't understand your question.

id like to know what the benefits are realized by those who practice them? Hmm that is an interesting question. I do not practice a gift persay. I am really not sure what I would be classified as I see myself simply as a believer and have a hard time accepting any church doctrine at face value. For the simple fact when you say your Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Seventh-day Adventist, Mormon, Jehova's witness, Church of Christ, and all the others etc. You are basically saying you agree with all their doctrine points and their beliefs.

When I first got saved was at a Carpentor's church non-denomational. After I accepted Christ into my heart. The Holy Spirit did not want me to return to that church. So according to the word of God the Holy Spirit bid me to become baptized. So I went all over Sydney Montana tryin to find a church to baptize me. None would. Not one single church would baptize me i called and went to all different churches for weeks. Then finally i went to a assembly of God the pastor told me that he was having a baptism on that weekend for other church members and that i could come on down and be baptized you bet.

Was huge for me my mom and her boyfriend drove all the way from the ranch 20+ miles to see me baptized. My mother had not stepped into a church for at least 6 years that I knew of. The pastor of that church was very careful with me as was the woman pastor at the carpentor's church who said the sinners prayer. Both told their congregation in my hearing to not influence me to try and persaude me in any way. And i took that to heart and have not let me faith nor hope be swayed but by the Holy Spirit, the scriptures, and that which I witness all around me.

The benefits I would have to say is simply knowing you are doing God's will.

Ive seen those who believe in the use of these gifts get from angry to show pity on
those who do not believe they are valid, and it interests me to know what value they
have that others without them wouldnt have?

Well some who think they have no gift, have gifts they just don't see them as gifts or do not fully acknowledge the power of God. Without a shadow of doubt I believe God can do anything. Anything at all. His power is beyong understanding I have seen, heard, tasted, felt, and experienced things in this reality that our simply a miracle. A woman giving birth, an animal giving birth, a plant sprouting. OMG i tell you for a fact these are the greatest miracles I have ever seen and they are common knowledge.

The benefit of one who thinks he has spiritual gifts is a way for him to rationalize himself to God. you have to be very careful with this because its not you. God works through you, around you, beside you. He encompasses everything that you could possibly concieve. Pride cometh before the fall. Incase you didn't know all those things you heard as a kid are true. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, a penny saved is a penny earned, the truth of the matter is Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of mankind.
