Christianity is different because the Bible teaches us about the God who we would never make up in a million years. We would never chose to make God up in our minds yet we must admit that there is no God like Him. No one could make up such a God. Our God, the God of the Bible, is very different than the gods of false religions. Our God shines as the way, the truth, and the life. Other gods are only fit to the human mind. The God of the Bible encompases every aspect of His glory and is high above all that is mankind.

We serve a God who chose us not because of anything we have or will ever do, but because He loves us. We are sinful and are unable to save ourselves so God sent His Son to die one of the most horrific deaths imaginable to pay for our sin so that if we believe in him we will be given eternal life and be called children of God. If you look in the bible there is so much there that noone in their right mind would have claimed unless that is exactly what happened. Take the fact that women were the first to see the risen Lord, women who in those days weren't considered trusted witness. The first to go worship the Christ just born of virgin Mary, were shepherds whose witness wasn't admissible in court. The disciples after claiming Jesus' resurrection to them and many others never recanted and most died gruesome deaths, take a look at history liars don't make good martyrs. People will die because they believe in a lie(which they believe to be true), but the disciples died because they knew Jesus was the Messiah and rose from the dead (because if it didn't happen they would have know it was a lie).

The difference between Christianity and all others is Jesus and his empty tomb. He proved himself to be the Son of God by the resurrection.

Jesus and a personal relationship with His Holy Spirit who guides, teaches and leads us.without the personal walk with God,

If there is no born again experience then you would not see any difference because the Spirit inside the person would not be different then the rest of the world.

the difference is JESUS CHRIST and His Truth and having a personal relationship with God, not just of worship but of love, teaching and guidance by His Holy Spirit and not just men and men's doctrines.

May God open the eyes of the blind and replace the hearts of stone with hearts of flesh so they might feel godly sorrow unto repentance and salvation of their souls.

FAith wise it isn't different; all religions need faith. Christianity is the only religion that has the concept of grace. All other religions understand mercy. This means other religions understand not getting what you deserve (mercy) but only Christianity has the concept of getting what we don't deserve (grace). Also all other religions founders are dead, but Jesus Christ is alive. The thing that has really impacted me is that Christianity's leader is the only one that can emphasize with us, but is still perfect. All other founders either were never on earth or separated themselves from the world so they did not have to face life's temptations. Christ live among sinners and chose to be tempted in every way we are.:) Also most importantly all other religions people have to reach out to their god for him to love them, but with Christianity God is reaching down to us and already loves us.

Um the other 'gods' can never talk to you, can never bless you freely(no grace), can never comfort you, can never lead you, and can never show you love... God bless

But does religion require and promote faith or does it require a lack of faith? Just a question.
Religion requires faith in men, which is insane when you think about it. Christianity is not meant to be a religion but a relationship between God and us, and a family with each other and God.

no faith is not "living courageously in the face of uncertainity"

Faith must be placed in someone or something. everyone chooses who and what they place their faith in. You can have Faith in JESUs and God's ability to preserve His truth and His word and guidance of His Holy Spirit or you can have faith in something or someone else.

most people have faith that the sun will rise and set but even that is uncertain for God tells us there will be a time when there will be no night for HE will be our eternal light.

It requires faith. Allof them do because all religions are based on believing something you can't prove including Christianity.

To be honest ''christianity'' is no different that any other religion, when all your christianity is is another religion. However when you come into a intimate relationship with the living God, the creator of all, who became a man, lived, died, and rose again because He loved you so much He couldn't stomach not being with you. Then and only then will you know that no , and i mean no religion does any of us any good.

Jesus Christ is King, Bridegroom, and Judge. He loves you, and only want you to return that love.

Hey Canada,

I like what you have said very much. Religion in my opinion also is about faith in men and if this is the case wouldn't Christianity require a similar faith in men. Men such as, the annonymous authors of the gospels, the early church fathers who formulated the doctrines of Christianity, etc.? And isn't faith about living couragously in the face of uncertainty? If it is then surely to believe something, anything, must be a lack of faith, for the uncertainty has been erased by the belief. Just wondering!
I have faith in the authour of the scriptures which is God. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.(2 Timothy 3:16-17)" It is amazing how God has kept His word intact in message and truth through out the years. A couple quick interesting facts about the bible, did you know that there are over 24000 complete manuscripts(which is a hand written copy most written on material like papyrus) of the New Testament alone(some as little as 50 years from the original writing), the second most of any other book in history is the Illiad by Homer with 634. Also if you took every NT in the entire world and every manuscript and burned them all, you could recreate the New Testament word for word minus 7 verses, using the letters between 1st century churches which often included quotes from the scriptures.

Christianity (which isn't meant to be a religion though people twist it to be one) also teaches that we are by nature evil and we can do nothing to save ourselves, where as religion teaches that we are generally good people who sometimes make mistakes and we can do things to bring ourselves closer to God.

at its most basic levels, someone who has faith in their religion, regardless of what that religion is, work under the same principals. belief in a higher power that reigns over humanity. how religions were formed also had to do with humanity trying to understand their environment. in almost all religions, people would assign characters for each aspect of the world and of humanity. you need to simply look at greek and egyptian mythology for a base example of this.

judaism islam and christianity. these three religions all have the same faith in God. islam and christianity are offshoots of judaism. this relates to the story of Abraham. a man who was so outraged by the lack of involvement of the so called gods of the time, he actually raged about it and destroyed the idols, asking where is the true God, where is something that is real in my life now. this must have touched God in some way that God chose to be revealed to Abraham. it was by the thoughts and actions of this man that brought about humanity being allowed to become aware of the one true God of creation. God was so impressed by this man that he ate dinner with him and even let Abraham haggle with him about how many people would it take to save a city. this man Abraham showed God that he loved God and would serve God unquestionably, even at the cost of his own son's life. is it any wonder that the example of Abraham giving his son to God is the example God gave us with his son, to show his love for us. that my friends is influence beyond most persons understanding. furthermore the bible teaches us to follow this example. Jesus asks us to do the same with our own selves, in order to follow him.

now many people would ask, "how do you know Christianity is the true religion?" the simple answer is the Abraham answer. we asked Jesus for help and he chose to reveal to us his truths. your remark of, "just right it out and put it in documents and preserve it for years and there ya go the next thousand years and people will cling to yer made up god like flys over honey it seems." is so perfect an example of this. you see, when the truth of Jesus is revealed, there is a book almost 2000 years old that defines the experience you have had. it is one of the most shocking moments of clarity a person can have in their life. holy *@!&, this is all true. in Christianity you can have belief and faith become knowledge of the truth. BEFORE you die. it is those who have this happen, that become almost fanatical. we know it is true. so we try and serve it as best we can. we hope that you experience it and come to know it as truth. in nearly every other religious teaching, truth and understanding does not come until AFTER you die. that is why those religions have faded into myth. what good is understanding and truth after you die anyway. no one is on the other side waiting for us to show up and explain to them what they already know.

now when it comes to islam and judaism, unlike most of my fellow Christians, i don't really push it as an issue. all three of us have the same God. it is up to them to accept Jesus as the son of God. for me it is not my place to judge non Christians who worship the Father. as for the other religions of the world nearly all have faded into myth and superstition. some of them i don't even consider religions, but more as a philosophy. to me when i look at buddah, i think he was touched by God and didn't know who God was. so he came up with his own ideas to explain what he had experienced. if he had been given a bible, things would have been different. one thing is clear from the bible, from time to time a person through thought and deed impresses God. who am i to say God wasn't involved with them.

if you seek the truth, we cannot give it to you. we can witness and testify about ourselves and the truth of the bible. this will not teach you truth, but it can guide you to the truth. the basic instruction for receiving truth is this, repent of your sins and ask Jesus for help. accept that there is no one to blame for your sins except for yourself. take responsibility for your actions, for they are yours. it is not your spouses fault. it is not societies fault. it is not the devils fault. it is not Gods fault. it is your fault and there is no justification for your sins. while trying to do this kind of soul searching confession, ask Jesus for help. just understand that Jesus is real and he can and will answer. follow what you perceive with faith. read the bible to prepare yourself for when this happens.

But how do you know that it is the word of god? Just asking, because there are many mistakes and forgeries within its contents and this fact seems to suggest that it is not the word of god, but the word of various men.
There are no mistakes in the bible only people twisting a specific verse to mean something it doesn't in the context of the whole message, there is someone who is also very good at that and that is satan. People twist the bible for their own gain but that does not affect the core truth of God's Word. Faith and trust are similar concepts really, but the bible does not tell you to walk about blindly in fact in 1 Peter we are told to "always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you" If you study the word in search of truth you will find it, if you look at the history of the bible you will be blown away by its accuracy and protected state despite the attempts of people to destroy its message.

"So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

What you have said, made me kringe alittle. How will humankind ever fix our world if we remain completely dependent and crippled by the belief that we cannot do anything about our shortcommings. It is up to us. As the wise philosopher, Robert G. Ingersoll once said;

“If abuses are destroyed, man must destroy them. If slaves are freed, man must free them. If new truths are discovered, man must discover them. If the naked are clothed; if the hungry are fed; if justice is done; if labor is rewarded; if superstition is driven from the mind ; if the defenseless are protected, and if the right finally triumphs, all must be the work of man. The grand victories of the future must be won by man, and by man alone.”[1]

[1] Robert Ingersoll. The Gods, and Other Lectures. C.P Publishers (1802). Pg. 59.
It should make you cringe, what the bible teaches is counter-cultural. Why? because this world is immersed in sin. God can change us, can change our world for the better if we would only let Him. The sad thing is even many who claim to be christian do not let God have free reign in their lives, they still try and do it themselves. Ingersoll and all like is are not wise, at best they are dreamers and wishful thinkers. Man has been around for a long time and when you look through history we suck, we have always sucked and we will suck again. Why? because we are sinful by nature. It is not the bad things we do that are out of character, it is the good we do that is an aberration.

Yes men, but the inspired word of God given unto men.
But some may argue this as well. :)
The big differance is as others said, Jesus Christ who was given and came as a living sacrifice for our sins.
Also it is taught that no one will see God or recieve salvation unless they believe in Jesus.
But , the most important thingabout christianity is that other religions speak to what one acomplishes, must do, what they do in the flesh. reqiring the flesh as proof.
In Jesus, by faith, Jesus brings completion of all that is salvation and good to one, all is done by His Holy Spirit, setting flesh aside.
It does not call the evidence in the flesh or world, but that which is eternal, the sprit, baced and given compleatly in the love of God Our Father.
Not by anything you do, but given as a gift by faith, so that no man may take pride in it.
Because He loved us first!

God bless.

I can't distinguished what is the difference among beliefs of religion, but I think that they believed it because that's what they had experienced and that is the belief of their religion. they said that they felt God base on what they believe in and how God will approach them

wrong, it says we all have sinned, we are not by nature "evil"

we are made in Gods image, and thus by nature good
