at its most basic levels, someone who has faith in their religion, regardless of what that religion is, work under the same principals. belief in a higher power that reigns over humanity. how religions were formed also had to do with humanity trying to understand their environment. in almost all religions, people would assign characters for each aspect of the world and of humanity. you need to simply look at greek and egyptian mythology for a base example of this.
judaism islam and christianity. these three religions all have the same faith in God. islam and christianity are offshoots of judaism. this relates to the story of Abraham. a man who was so outraged by the lack of involvement of the so called gods of the time, he actually raged about it and destroyed the idols, asking where is the true God, where is something that is real in my life now. this must have touched God in some way that God chose to be revealed to Abraham. it was by the thoughts and actions of this man that brought about humanity being allowed to become aware of the one true God of creation. God was so impressed by this man that he ate dinner with him and even let Abraham haggle with him about how many people would it take to save a city. this man Abraham showed God that he loved God and would serve God unquestionably, even at the cost of his own son's life. is it any wonder that the example of Abraham giving his son to God is the example God gave us with his son, to show his love for us. that my friends is influence beyond most persons understanding. furthermore the bible teaches us to follow this example. Jesus asks us to do the same with our own selves, in order to follow him.
now many people would ask, "how do you know Christianity is the true religion?" the simple answer is the Abraham answer. we asked Jesus for help and he chose to reveal to us his truths. your remark of, "just right it out and put it in documents and preserve it for years and there ya go the next thousand years and people will cling to yer made up god like flys over honey it seems." is so perfect an example of this. you see, when the truth of Jesus is revealed, there is a book almost 2000 years old that defines the experience you have had. it is one of the most shocking moments of clarity a person can have in their life. holy *@!&, this is all true. in Christianity you can have belief and faith become knowledge of the truth. BEFORE you die. it is those who have this happen, that become almost fanatical. we know it is true. so we try and serve it as best we can. we hope that you experience it and come to know it as truth. in nearly every other religious teaching, truth and understanding does not come until AFTER you die. that is why those religions have faded into myth. what good is understanding and truth after you die anyway. no one is on the other side waiting for us to show up and explain to them what they already know.
now when it comes to islam and judaism, unlike most of my fellow Christians, i don't really push it as an issue. all three of us have the same God. it is up to them to accept Jesus as the son of God. for me it is not my place to judge non Christians who worship the Father. as for the other religions of the world nearly all have faded into myth and superstition. some of them i don't even consider religions, but more as a philosophy. to me when i look at buddah, i think he was touched by God and didn't know who God was. so he came up with his own ideas to explain what he had experienced. if he had been given a bible, things would have been different. one thing is clear from the bible, from time to time a person through thought and deed impresses God. who am i to say God wasn't involved with them.
if you seek the truth, we cannot give it to you. we can witness and testify about ourselves and the truth of the bible. this will not teach you truth, but it can guide you to the truth. the basic instruction for receiving truth is this, repent of your sins and ask Jesus for help. accept that there is no one to blame for your sins except for yourself. take responsibility for your actions, for they are yours. it is not your spouses fault. it is not societies fault. it is not the devils fault. it is not Gods fault. it is your fault and there is no justification for your sins. while trying to do this kind of soul searching confession, ask Jesus for help. just understand that Jesus is real and he can and will answer. follow what you perceive with faith. read the bible to prepare yourself for when this happens.
