We all must judge between the holy and the profane or we will throw our pearls to the pigs--and be trampled underfoot...

It is not 'judgmental' in a bad sense to discern...it is foolish not to...

judgement-To dmn ,decree,or otherwise hinder a brother or sister
the key here is a brother or sister
most folx gewt judgement and correction crossed up.....correction is if you see a person in fault you are WILLIN TO HELP THEM UP as a fellow servant.
Not willing to stomjp on their feelings or shun them because you see them being human and Not who you think you are or think they should be.

judgement for christiansshould be from within, looking inward to your own walk,or as my mama used to say "clean your own doorstep befor you try to sweep off someone elses" cuz you might find yourself knocked off the porch.
Jesus put it this way tho
Luk 6:37Judgenot, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Luk 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

note that theres NOTHING here about money or tithes......This is about judgement or judgemental attitudes
its one thing tooffer to help someone and another to point out fault.Discernment isNOT pointing out a fault or personality flaw,We All have them not just your church friends or companions.
Jesus prety much despised this notion of being judgementalso much to the point that He Himself said that if you did it youd mete it pressed down shaken up and running over just like youd do the trash when youre trying to get that last littlebit in the bag right b4 it rips.
there are many more verses on the subject dealing with this subject.I feel that God is trying to say that this atitude is the ultimat disrespect of our brothers and sisters and is emptying out churches nation wide as we speak on the subject.

God bless Stratocaster,

When a person gets born again, they receive and become partakers of the divine nature of God.
Yet that does not affect the mind. That is why WE are to "renew our minds" to God's Word. [Romans 12:2].

So, even though God is very forgiving to me, I can be very unforgiving to others [if I do not renew my mind]
Even though God poured His grace upon me, I can be very ungracious to others [if I do not renew my mind]
Even though God is very loving to me, I can be very unloving to others [if I do not renew my mind]
etc, etc,

In an earthly family, as well as in God's family, you have babes in Christ and mature Christians, those who renew their minds and those who do not.

1 Corinthians, chapters 1 through 3 is a good read

You are God's best,

Mark

you guys, i like what cristen was saying. but also, come on, some will get hurt in the church that is the way it goes, and guess what. God is going to correct those people, not you, but the holy spirit. remember the verse Mat 7:1"Judge not, that you be not judged.
Mat 7:2For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.God will vindicate of any wrong doing , don't worry. i like Romans 12, read it somtime. you think all that show up are in christ?
i know this can happen to all of us, and we can become like a pharasee, but God is here to correct HIs children. Whom the Lord loves He chastens.
i can tell u now, if people are being wrong in your church, and you are being called to be there, its not good to try and pull a Jonah! yea, you may not get swallowed by a fish, but God will make it so you return, or make it clear. Anyways, keep your eyes on Jesus or you too will miss the blessing of God.
i have reminded my self of this time and time agian, and when you show up with a heart of worship, you will indeed be blessed! but if you want to go, pray and seek wisdome and direction from God, maybe you were not to leave to begin with. ask God to lead by His spirit. and remember we are all a work in progress. the enemy wants to still, kill and distroy. I can tell you now, if God is using u in your church, you are going to have spiritual battle, get used to it, but get ready and put on that armour. anyways, may God speak to ya and bless you!

I have a theory on why non-believers often seem so much more accepting of others...actually, my Mom probably taught me this (she taught me so much I can't always tell what came from her and what is my own )

Anyway, it's something like this:

Satan doesn't want to lose a single person to the Lord. He wants all of us, and will work in the world especially hard to reach those who belong to God. So if he makes it difficult to fit in with other believers, and so simple to fit in with non-believers, that's a really good way to get at us, isn't it? It's like the wolf separating one lone sheep from the pack...totally makes sense, right?

I also think that every other Christian you meet and speak to could tell you of a time when fellow "Christians" didn't accept them, though, and the thing we all need to remember is that we don't go to church to please the church. We go for time with our Lord, to worship Him, to serve Him, to remember Him.

It's not always easy to remember that, but once you realize the truth of it, it makes being snubbed by church members a little easier to swallow.

That's good. I like that. But satan can't pull a genuine believer out of Christ's hand, so why does satan still try??? You would think he would want to focus all of his efforts on the non-believers. On the other hand, I guess if he makes believers weak he will prevent us for converting non-believers to Christianity. He probably tries to weaken the church fellowship. Or of course, maybe satan has deceived himself into thinking that he still has a chance when he's already lost over 2000 years ago. All I know is Praise Jesus!

I kind of think that Satan most wants true Christians. The nonbelievers of this world aren't doing anything that would threaten his power, so why worry? Christians are actively following Jesus, spreading the Word the Satan doesn't want spread. If he can stop us in our tracks by turning us against each other, then he'll do it, right?

That's actually a good argument against the idea of "once saved always saved". If satan knew that true believers were safe and secure, why would he try to upset their faith?

So I spoke my opinion on something in another thread and suddenly nobody in the chat wants to talk to me!

Surprise surprise.

I've noticed that in the churches I've gone to, people expect you to be on "church behavior" aka act like you're perfect, and then they go and hit the party scene the next weekend. I've met very few Christians who didn't judge based on how I act at church.

Arent we called to love others? Yet I've found much more acceptance by non-believers for being Christian than I have by Christians for being a sinner.

Why do you think this is?
I know how you feel. There is something I noticed a long time ago, back when I was first saved. There are/were a lot of "Christians" that seem to think that no matter what they do, it is all right because they just have to go to church and say they're sorry, and ask for forgiveness. That way they are free to commit the same sin(s) over and over. They are also friendly to me in church or when they see me around somewhere. But they forget about me as soon as I am out of thier sight. This was especially true when I was a mormon living in Salt Lake City, UT.
It used to really bother me but not anymore. As I've grown as a Christian, I realized that since what these "christians" are doing is wrong, or rude, or what ever you want to call it; It is the Lord who they will have to answer to on the day of judgement.

I know it's hard to forgive them and do what the Lord commanded, but as long as we keep trying to do just that we will be forgiven before the rude people will. Remember Stratocaster, the Lord knows what's in our hearts and minds.

And I don't mind chatting with you or anyone else. But I more than likely will not agree with you all the time. Nobody agrees with everyone all the time. That's just the way it is.

God Bless

mahogony, i don't want to argue with you on that subject, but there are plenty of verses to back that idea up.
For the true christians that are in fact in Christ, there salvation is secure! If you need the verses i would love to share them with you. I mean was God lying when He said no one could snatch us out of His hands? Peter denied Christ three times, and look at Peter, God used Him in a mighty way, and God k new Peters love for Him, why did Peter denie Christ? Well he was human for one, but lots of peoples faith wavers, that does not mean there salvation in Christ is not secure. And look, Peter loved God, there was no question about that. Lets face it, people make mistakes every day, it does not mean they are not going to see the Kingdome of God. Otherwise, that would take away from the Grace God has give each one of us. Who can say they are withought sin, or perfect anyhow.
Ephesians 6 is good. showes what kind of battle we are in.

I think many people can't help to assess someone who is new in their eyes. It is not nice but I guess we all do that at one point in time. If we are the newcomer, we sometimes get so sensitive with these but I guess we have to understand that not all people are warmhearted and newcomer friendly even Christians because not everybody has that sanguine personality. Some people are just skeptical at first. Still I am disheartened by stories like this which reminds me of Mahatma Gandhi story too..

the way i see it is this:

I used to balk and whine about how i was treated by judgmental Christians.
Their behaviors sicken me and due to that, I had let my days ruined by them.
And, I grown bitter toward them, toward religious organization, and so on.

Until, 1 day I realized it was a stupid thing to do.
I remembered a phrase that said:
If you can remove a mountain to go through, then removed it.
If you cannot remove the mountain, then build a path through it.
If you cannot build a path through it, then walk around it.
If you cannot walk around it, then change your way of mind.

Soon after reading that, I realized God is telling me something.
I cannot change their judgments and their behavior.
I can only change my mind. In a gist, my perspective looking at them.

I realized judgmental christians aren't exactly there without a purpose.
and one of the purpose of them (that's why God let them around) is to be a constant reminder for myself that I should not be judgmental.

All this made me realize the true meaning of what Paul told us in his letters that above all think others as better than yourself.
Why let them ruin your day?
In fact, use this as an opportunity to rise as a true disciple of Christ.
When you brood and become bitter and let the incident steal your peace of mind, there is nothing good can come out of it.

So, brush the bitterness off and the more you see the judgmental christians, the more your heart should be blessed and perhaps, when they see you shine above their judgments, they will someday realized that what they are doing is not favorable to God. and If they still have Christ's mind instill in their heart, they will repent.

WELL SAID!!! I agree.

The harshness of people, and the hardness of their hearts will always be there, as a reminder to us, just as we are reminders to someone else. God allows everyone to be what they are, for a reason.

Even Judas had his purpose, and was used for Gods glory. He was chosen by God to do what he did. The proof of that is when Jesus predicted the one who would betray Him at the last supper. And then Christ died on the cross for us. It was all part of the plan.

lets look at what the word says about Judas shall we.
Mat 26:24The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."

you know people, bottom line. we still have a choice how we treat other people. To guard are mouhts somtimes, are thoughts, all of it yes is in the hands of God. but when we make a choice to hurt people its not right, and yea we should repent. I know what it is to be treated not so good and you know what, i had to forgive those people and love them as God called me to,even my own brothers and sisters in christ. my heard lesson was one of love. to love our enemies.
but it was a lesson i did not learn real fast ok and that is honist. There were people around me who were giving me trouble and im not talking the church in this situation. I had to learn to love and pray for them as christ wanted me to. But yes those people had a purpose in my lesson.. it's mercy. God desires mercy and not sacrifice as it says in Matthew 5. If you know who Beth more is, she once was talking about praying for her enemies because she wanted God to extend her the same mercy. So we must. Not only that, when we choose to pray for those who hurt us, or betrayed us, we are showing the love of the father, and God is giong to extend us mercy to when we so need it. Be brave and don't let the world get to you. there are alot of people who need the love and forgivness of God. If we won't love them, who will? The worlds way, get even, God's way, love! I'm sure as most of us at one time would have like to get back at a person, or see maybe them even get what they deserve, but is that the heart of our Father, i think not.

lol...lets!!! :)

What I said was, that it was part of the plan, for Judas to decieve Jesus. Judas had a purpose, even in his wickedness, he was used for Gods glory. Christ knew why He came, and what He had to do. He also knew what Judas had to do.

At the last supperJesus says...

Luke 22: 20-22

This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. But behold the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table. For the son of man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed.

Also I don't see the "It would have been good for that man if he had not been born." part in there at all. Has anyone else seen that?

why not missy, its not my word, but that of God. the reason i put that there is because i was showing that even though Jesus knew He must be handed over, do you not think Judas still had a choice to betray Jesus? I think he did. .
