until your heart is circumcised u are not worthy to enter the temple, until your sinful nature is cut away, u will not be able to partake in his feasts, and it is done by the hand of our rabbi in heaven with the scalpel of truth. and when it is done u will be free from sin and death, so ask our Lord in heaven to circumcise your heart today.

It's interesting that while physical circumcision can only be done on males, it also seemed to be through Adam (and males) that the sinful nature was passed on.

we are never worthy no matter what we do

we enter ONLY through the blood of Christ

God in the OT says to His people that He will circumcise their hearts and the hearts of their children so that they will stop their stubbornness (sin) and follow Him but in Jeremiah the prophet tells them to circumcise their own hearts or God's wrath will burn against them (Jeremiah 4)

and Paul in the NT goes into it at some length (Romans)

we cannot follow the law to please God as is made plain the in NT and actually understood in the old

only the blood of Christ shed on our behalf ensures our being able to enter in and be accepted by God

the rest is vain efforts if we do not understand that only Jesus is without sin

this thread is from a year ago but it seems the topic of whether or not Christians need to follow the law etc has reared its ugly head again in the forums

It seems you have not heard of female circumcision? Known as FGM. Please look it up...

The grace given us should be more than adequate in insilling a strong desire to please the One Whois our Teacher, Who explains the law under grace and Who has made most of them invalid due to His own fulfilling of them. Yes, so many todya are not aware of the laws which make up love, that is which make up the two great laws of love for they do not know the law.

It seems those who say the law is no more valid are those most under the law for they live in fear of what Jesus teaches us about it.

Oops. I saw that the post was February, but did not realise it was February last year.

Yeah I have. But I disagree that female genital mutilation should be called circumcision. Female genital mutilation removes the clitoris, which is essential to female feeling during making love. Although some claim FGM is equivalent to circumcision, circumcision only removes excess skin from the male member, doesn't inhibit any function, and is beneficial from a health/hygiene perspective. FGM removes essential sexual tissue from a female, destroys her ability to have a healthy sexual relationship, and causes so many health issues for her. The comparison of the two is like comparing a haircut to a guillotining. So I still hold that females can't be circumcised - mutilated, I accept (with revulsion), but circumcised, I don't.

hey ~

you have someone else's concern attached to my post...I did not bring up the subject

I don't think female genital mutilation is correctly referred to as circumcision anyway

most women cannot function properly after the hideous procedure is perfomed

male circumcision does not (for almost 100% if done correctly) render a man in constant pain and unable to (ahem) perform

I agree that it does not belong in this thread and is a subject unto itself

Well, that's interesting. It is supposed to be a way of replying to multiple people in the one post to stop the threads getting littered with posts from a single user, but it seems that maybe in your case, you aren't able to see the split up. In case it still isn't clear, my response to you was "Oops. I saw that the post was February, but did not realise it was February last year." The rest was to someone called Magenta.

You're right. I just felt that it had to be said that FGM was very different to circumcision, as if the two are confused with each other (which I think some people deliberately try to do these days), one may have a very wrong perspective of circumcision of the heart.

Yes. The Holy Spirit declares the first born of the brethren. The sign of circumcision a sign to the world.

The metaphor bloody husband referring to Christ gives us some understanding of the ceremonial law. A law of remembrance.

The sign of our bloody husband as the Spirit of Christ working in the old testament saints. Our bloody husband the first born suffering before hand and the glory that followed. The time of 1st century reformation these last days .

1 Peter 1:11Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

A parable in Exodus 4 as a warning to the rebels or mankind that refused to believe prophecy "the word of God" They followed after a legion of gods. The time of 400 years spoken to Abraham had come . The sign of the first born that. . . . moved the Pharaohs hand to let his people enter his sabbath in their journey to a promised land used to represent the eternal unseen land . . Egypt to represent the world losing all their first born of the paganism.

In the parable he uses the sign of a bloody suffering savior against the rebels to show his powerful hand by first refusing to give their hearts rest as trust in the unseen. His heart remined hard and became evidenced by death to all the first born of unbelievers. It was like our God was blotting out their name casting it into the Sea of judgment .

In the parable it appears our Father in heaven who is typified by Moses uses Moses's first born "Gershom" meaning ;"I have become an alien in a foreign land.” In order to demonstrate his wrath. Zipporah a gentile acted as a mediator. Again called Gershom "I have become an alien in a foreign land.To represent her bloody husband .The bloody husband not referring to Moses who is typified as our father not seen in that context. .

Mentioning a bloody husband twice in one context seems commonly used in the Bible to represent the two witnesses of God. Or established by God. The Law and the Prophets .(sola scriptura)

The metaphor "bloody husband" is used to represent what 1 Peter 1:11 seems to be saying that I offered above.. The Spirit of Christ, Emanuel worked in Zipporah (meaning, female bird, or a small like a dove.) to both will and do His good pleasure. A sign against those who do walk by sight.

And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn. And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.21-26

Because of the circumcision. = The suffering before hand.

no worries...I just wanted to make it clear I did not bring up the subject cause, IMO, I don't think it has a single thing to do with the op and is not related...torture might be a better thread for it

there are many cultures in Africa that have 'rites' that make us here in North America just shiver and they have been going on since forever

it's all good ;):)

I agree. FGM is an evil practice which is up there with castration.

On a similar note, however, circumcision of the heart is a positive thing, so I certainly disagree with Christians who equate FGM with male circumcision (i.e. if the physical metaphor is bad, how can the spiritual be good?) For the same reasons, I'm not sure that I even agree with those who say physical circumcision is bad, in and of itself. I agree it's not necessary for salvation, but it's still the symbol for what occurs in our hearts.

John the Baptist proclaimed:
Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptise you with the Holy Spirit:
(NOTE: John Baptized with water. The coming Messiah will Baptise with the Holy Spirit)

Matt 3:11 & Luke 3:16: The baptism into Christ's body via the Holy Spirit. Is a covenant of spiritual circumcision. Done by Christ & ONLY Christ. It's a "Spiritual" circumcision done without hands & without water.

Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision "made without hands", in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
(NOTE: A circumcision "made without hands")

Deut 30:6 (A) The LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart

A point to anyone entering into a Temple:

1 Corinthians 6:19 (A) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
(NOTE Believers are the Temple)

Revelation 21:
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Circumcision, a first born ceremonial law . A parable using the things seen that speaks of our suffering bloody husband before hand and the glory that did follow the reformation.

The physical metaphor in that case must of been male to represent the husband of the church (the wife.). Male and female represent the bride, the spiritual house made up of many livery stones that build up the unseen church . The new creature. The two will literally become one as before the fall.

It would seem we can see as we are informed in 1 Peter 1:11 the Spirit of Christ working in Zipporah a gentile as a sign of circumcision cutting off the fore flesh of her son Gershom (name meaning an alien ) as a metaphor to represent the Son of man, Jesus.

And the Lord said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life. And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand. And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn. And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision. Exodus 4 :19-25

Zipporah the prophetess was used to represent one that was moved to save the incorruptible seed, Christ, from mingling with the seeds of mankind corrupted flesh and blood. Same kind of parable with Abraham and Isaac according to that parable or figure used to reveal the unseen preservation of the seed (Christ) . Or with Ruth another gentile woman that was used mightily used to represent the church that holds out the good news gospel as the shield of our new faith .

They who were blessed with the faith of Christ .(as it is written) receiving daily the end of it from the beginning .All of those woman searched as the Spirit of Christ for what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. The sign gave them a look as a living hope. . . ahead .It gives us a look back to the same glory .Ressurection gates were opened as they are today.

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Receiving the end of your
faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 1 Peter 1:8-11
