How many of you think the schools should include condoms in sex education or should it be abstinence only?

Even gov't and secular society can recognize the moral decay our society/world is experiencing. I say Abstinence all the way.

I think they should teach both, teens need to be informed of sex, its risks, and what measures to take to minimize them.

What don't y'all understand about the concept of FORNICATION?? It is an abomination unto the Lord. ABSTAINENCE IS KEY to healthy living.
Physical and spiritual.

Alright, you can teach your children just abstinence.

I would much rather educate my child in BOTH areas.

and um who said we didn't understand the concept of fornication??

"But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people." -Ephesians 5:3.

Sadly, in the school system, teach them abstinence without providing any condoms or birth control, and you'll have them going to bed without, thus having even more pregnant teens and STDs.

But the problem they come across is supplying the protection without the full education, therefore having the the same results. The whole "no questions asked" approach that many counselors and clinics take bring more difficulties.

So I stand with AliceofLegend. Teach both. You can't make the decision for them, but laying down all the options and all the consequences are the best approach to getting people acting out of heartfelt obedience rather than heartfelt rebellion.

The OP asked about the school system. You can take the scriptural route with your children as I will, but to unbelievers that does diddly-squat.

Jesus taught abstinence, did he not (Mark 7:21-23, Matthew 5:28)?

Unchastity is addictive. You might start out with condoms, but your desire will grow and grow, and sooner or later you will likely have sex without condoms.

Don’t feed the addiction—be abstinent until you marry.

I think if abstinence only programs worked it would be good. But too many young people are having sex before marriage. So I say teach both and hope they'll wait for marriage.

I say, don’t feed their sexual addictions by giving them condoms.

Quote: "Alright, you can teach your children just abstinence.

and um who said we didn't understand the concept of fornication?? " Teaching your kids about 'safe sex' is simply teaching them that fornication is OK. And it is NOT. And if you don't understand that fornication is NOT OK, with God, then you don't understand it...physically, spiritually, emotionally or mentally, what it does do a person.
There is only ONE way and that way is JESUS and He said "No" to fornication...that any who participate in it will Not go to heaven, for they are not born of God.

I think you guys are forgetting... the OP asked about the school system. Yes we all have our own convictions about how to approach the issue with our own kids, but the school system is different, and you can't approach an auditorium of teens in a public school with scripture alone. You just don't get very far with that IF you are allowed to do so.

It should be abstinence only, but you are dealing with a secular school system, that took prayer out of school, and is immoral,so they will push the condoms instead of pushing the idea of delaying sex at least until they are 18,seeing it is their society that won't push for no sex until marriage.

They know they can't stop the kids from having sex so they are trying to keep them from getting pregnant, which their thinking is at least is somewhat safe seeing they can't stop them, although they might stop a few.

We are living in a society that is at the last days who will lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God,how much more immoral will the people who do not claim God act. They will be despisers of those that are good.

There are very few people in their society that want to do good.At least it isn't as bad a the free love in the 1960's.

Knowing the attitude of the people in society,I suppose the best they can do is offer condoms,so it as least a benefit although not perfect.

In Australia they have churches that give out needles to drug users and help out any way they can to make things safer for them so why not hand out condoms? They could give out drugs as well, to keep crime down.

Years ago my grandma was dieing in the hospital and was very uncomfortable and told me she felt like dieing and getting it over with and is this such a sin? And I told her I couldn't point fingers because I felt like that before and I could see why she wanted to get it over with being so old and all and she was going to die soon anyway. What I told her was if they did it (killed her) for her then they would start doing it to anyone and everyone. In other words "in for a dime, in for a dollar".

Wrong is wrong no matter the degree.

Unchastity is addictive. By giving out condoms you feed the addiction and make the problem worse.

Jesus told us to be chaste. He didn’t say to hand out condoms, or anything like that, did he?

Yes, sex is just as addictive as drugs. it's insane the schools giving the kids the option of sex, I keep thinking they should hand the kids car keys as well. (or keys to the bus)
