Rebuke? I suppose it could be seen that way. More intended as an encouragement to common unity. Been on CC a long time reading everything, but rarely commenting. I created a new account since my old email account was compromised.
I posted a question following my original post in hopes of spurring on a Biblical discussion, but I think it kind of got lost in the shuffle. Here is what I posted...
"I am interested in discussing what the Bible has to say about how to handle/discuss theological or doctrinal differences from a Biblical perspective. Scripture quotes on the subject would be fantastic."
One of the greatest theological "debates" i had ever seen was between two good friends. They are both well know theologians, one Arminian one Reformed. They disagreed on a ceetain doctrine but the way they both spoke with humilty and love towards tge other made it a fun debate to watch. They were even joking as they debated.
When discussing theological subjects we should speak wifh humilty first because none of us know it all. Second with love because we should be concerned about each others salvation.
Though to love is the greatest commandment i feel humility should be first for, as mentioned, we are all being sanctified by the Holy Spirit and we all grow in our faith at different paces. If we try and force certain things on others we could cause disruption in the family.
Humility because we are not all at the same place in our growth. Love because we are to love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
We must understand that we only know what we know due to the teaching of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does not teach each of us in the same way or at the same pace.
I should also note that before we post anything we should be praying for the correct words to use. I often write something then pray before i post it. Because of this, not everything i write is posted. I try my best, im not perfect, to allow the Holy Spirit to direct my words in a way that is most glorifying to God.
Sorry for such a long post but this is the way i feel we should be "debating" upon any subject let alone things dealing with God.
