ok, here's a little something different than my other threads. what's everyone's stand on creamation and organ donation? and is there anything in the bible that might touch on these subjects. i ask because, well, both my parents were creamated. my mom passed over 5 years ago and at the time we werent financially able to give my mom a regular burial and it bothered me quite qa bit because that was one of my mom's specific requests was NOT to be creamated. she was a devout catholic and i guess she did not believe in it. I had no say in the matter as my dad made the decision to do so, but when my dad passed 6 months later, i was faced with the same problem (financially) and had him creamated as well.
and as for the other subject of organ donation is something i wondered about as i have requested to be a donor on my driver's license . i just feel that if i can save someone else's life that there should be no problem with that. why be selfish? you won't need your body part after death and you sure wont be taking them to heaven, but anyway, what's your thoughts?

I see nothing wrong with organ transplants, especially if it saves a life.

On Cremation, some Christians do have issues with it. They claim it is a pagan practice but the bible does not dictate how we are to be buried. There is a new type of cremation I find disgusting. It is called water cremation.

Water cremation sounds great, but it is disgusting and treats the body in an undignified manner. Basically, the body is dissolved in a hot lye solution, except the bones remain. Then the dissolved body is simply flushed out down the drain and flows into the sewer. The bones are then crushed and given to the family. Water cremation is a new thing and in many states is not yet legal. They claim it is an environmentally green way of dealing with the body and is very affordable.

These are not a complete list of scriptures that can help you with it. You have to read more on your own, to find them.

1 Corinthians 15:35-37

King James Version (KJV)

35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:..

So the body placed in the ground, is not, that Body that will be, but they will have a new, body . Read all of 1 Corinthians 15.

All these bodies are, is dirt at the end of the day :

Genesis 3:19

King James Version (KJV)

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.....

Once your done with it, that's it. You have a far better body waiting for you.

Everyone has these bodies, sinner or saint . Because all must go before the Judgment seat of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:10

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

As far as Organ donation. I think it can be okay? But I would not donate my heart. Its like a little odd to me. Like over board. That is my opinion. .Anyway anyone who got my organs, will not be any better off. :)

I'm planning on be cremated myself. It's cheaper , most families can't afford to do it the other way. There's nothing wrong with it. It's returns to dirt.

All for cremation! And I need to select to be a donor too!

My decision for cremation has nothing to do with my faith because I haven't heard anything to say that it's bad or goes against God. Personally it's more about $ and the thought of being buried. Yeah, I know ... not like I would feel it, but still. And as far as being a donor, I think everyone should be. I need to update that ASAP.

God Bless...

It is written come the resurrection the deep will give up her dead, and so the dust. Man is made from the earth, dust, adam in Hebrew, and those who die will return to the dust. Cremation is only a matter of speeding up the return to dust.

My favorite theme, believe or do not believe, but do not cast doubts. The faithful will not be moved by such because we are within the sanctity of the Blood of the Lamb.

Our Father will say the Word when it is His time, and those who sleep in the dust will rise first then those who are yet alive will be taken up to meet our Lord, Jesus, in the clouds. No creature is capable of hiding his life from the Maker of all that is. Even human science states that matter is never destroyed simply converted to energy, but this is human thinking. Faith states loudly there is no limit to our Fathers capability, and calling the dead from the dust is a no-brainer for Him. Praise our Maker, He is worthy, we are not, yet we are counted such by the blessed sacrifice for our imperfections, Jesus Christ, Yeshua.....amen.

Yep.

They put the body in a stainless steel pressure cooker (for lack of a better term) then heat the sodium hydroxide to very high temps. Then the solution is sprayed on the body at high velocity and the body turns into a brown smelly liquid which is simply flushed into the sewer. Only the bones remain but they weakened.

The Catholic Church has recently approved this for Catholics and many states are considering legislation to approve this. It's cheaper than cremation and will be probably be common in the near future.

I find it to be very repulsive. The fact that most of the body is simply flushed into the sewer seems disrespectful. Bewlow is a picture of the equipment they use for water cremation.

That's disgusting!!!

I wouldn't want dead human juice floating around sewers everywhere. What if it becomes drinking water again somewhere down the line?

O.O The horror...

Organ donation sounds very generous. You'll be helping someone else with your leftover body squishies. If I'm not using em anymore, take em. :)

You do know that in regular cremation they grind up your bones too right? Water cremation reminds me of the matrix where they liquify the dead to feed to the living
