You seem to have one verse to support your claim.

I will raise you with the following verses, that say that Jesus rose on the third day and not after the third day.
It doesn't work like that. One verse is more than enough and all the verses are true anyways. You seem to deny one scripture inspired by the Holy Spirit.

First time I have ever heard that explanation.

It appears in the text that Jesus was dead in the afternoon and buried before the sabbath began.

Luke 23:53-54
And he took it down and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid Him in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had ever lain. It was a preparation day, and a Sabbath was about to begin.

John 19:31
Now then, since it was the day of preparation, to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews requested of Pilate that their legs be broken, and the bodies be taken away.

But somehow, you have Jesus dead on the preparation day but buried the next day???
Yes. He died on a prep day and was sealed in the tomb just as it became the next day. Everything about his burial and resurrection are absolutely perfect timing wise. That's how rising the third day and after three days is possible.

"After three days" and "on the third day" are the SAME in Matt. 27:62-64. "After three days" counted from the crucifixion day, which was preparation day; "on the third day" coutned from the following day, which was specifically pointed out in 27:62.

You cannot say that Mary arrived at the tomb in the dark, as a matter of fact.

Here read Mark's gospel.

Mark 16:2
And very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

We do not know the precise timing of Mary's arrival at the tomb, because we have two different accounts.

Yet, it is not important because the first day began after sunset on the previous day (the sabbath day).

As I have said before, the time Jesus rose is unknown.

We only have the day on which Jesus was observed to have risen and that was the day after the sabbath.

Matthew 17:23
And they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.

Matthew 16:21
...and to be killed, and to be raised up on the third day.

Matthew 20:19
And they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and flog and crucify, and on the third day He will be raised up.

To say that Jesus rose after the third day and night, is in direct conflict with so many verses.
No matter which book you read it still says that Jesus had already risen. Jesus didn't rise Easter Sunday Morning! Certain books explain in more detail, but let's read In Mark 16: 1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. 3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? 4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. 5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. 6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

Mary Magdalene came very earl in the morning the first day of the week and guess what; Jesus was gone. In John it says
The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. (2) Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

So John let us know the Mary came in the beginning of Sunday, because the days starts in the evening.

Look, his DISappearance doesn’t prove that he is risen, his APPEARANCE proves that he is risen. You quoted Mary’s word, what was her initial reaction - to the empty tomb? “They have taken his body.” Resurrection was verified by eye witness accounts, NOT empty tomb. And don’t take my word for it, take Paul’s word for it in 1 Cor 15.

Mark 16:9

Mark tells us Jesus rose Sunday morning.

Jesus was observed to have risen on Sunday by the apostles, Mary, and other disciples.

No one saw Jesus risen on the Sabbath.

Tradition says that Jesus rose on Sunday.

The apostle Paul says that Jesus rose on the third day, Sunday.

You are in denial of the simple truth, crucified on the preparation day for the Sabbath. In the tomb on the sabbath.
Rose early Sunday morning.

There is not one verse that states Jesus rose on the sabbath. Inference is all you have, and no hard evidence from the scripture.

It's always inferred but not written.

What?

If the tomb is empty, He has risen.

The eye witness accounts testify that Jesus was risen on Sunday. Zero eye witness accounts for a Sabbath resurrection.

Jesus rose on the third day (Sunday) and that is what we were taught.

There is no debate.

Hindsight is always 20/20. We could all say that, of course, but put your feet in Mary's and those disciples' shoes, nobody belived He had risen - until they saw him with their own eyes. I'm not rebuking you, we're on the same side. What I'm saying is that he could've disappeared earlier, but that doesn't matter, what matters is eye witness account on sunday morning, exactly as you said.

So to cause unnecessary confusion you skip to verse 9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

This is after the fact. But we see from Mark 16, starting from the beginning, Jesus was gone way before Sunday Morning. Can't use Sunday, Jesus was gone. You still have to use three days and three nights, and start your count right from the prophet Daniel.

Jesus couldn't rise just any day, it had to be the seventh day which is Saturday today. Sunday represent the first fruit, Jesus had ascend to the Father for waving of the first fruit, that's why Jesus told Mary in John 20: 16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. 17Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Paul also talks this in 1 Corinthians 15: 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

But now the Sabbath day also carries it own meaning and future prophecy. The Sabbath represent the end flesh and or man kind. Also the Sabbath day represent the time Jesus will reign on earth for thousand years, which is 7000 yrs starting from Adam. Because in 2 Peter 3: 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Keeping the weekly Sabbath day on the seventh day of the week represent this time period and coming up in the first resurrection. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. (Revelation 20: 4, 5)

All of this connect, but most people are taught so they just posting without knowledge, and it's much more to all this.

How could you claim Jesus had ascended to the father when Jesus clearly said that I am NOT YET ascended to my father? Paul talked about Jesus as the First Fruit because He rose on First Fruit, which was sunday. He fulfilled Passover, Unleavened Bread and First Fruit, then the Church fulfilled Pentecost, and the second coming will fulfill the last three fall feasts. Yes, he couldn't rise on any day, He must rise on sunday, not just because that was first fruit, but also because that was the third day counting from the day after crucifixion - Friday, Saturday, then Sunday morning.

Mary arrived at the tomb at sunrise on Sunday morning. That is 12 hours after Sunday had started. The guards were frozen in terror when Mary arrived. I can assure you that the guards were not frozen in terror for 12 hours or more. Jesus must have risen just before sunrise.

Jesus was never witnessed to have risen before Sunday. That is the crucial point. That is what you blatantly choose to ignore. We are bound by the witness of the disciples. Once again, the exact time of the resurrection is unknown.

You need a verse that states that Jesus had risen after the third day. I have thirteen that state that Jesus had risen on the third day, not after the third day. Your attempt at getting Jesus risen after the third day is based on a figure of speech.

It is really that simple, Jesus rose on the third day, fact!

Your trying to create division within the church.

That is a dangerous pursuit to undertake.

You lack the hard evidence from the scripture to support your sabbath resurrection.

You also lack the witness of the disciples for a sabbath resurrection.

Finally, you also lack the tradition of the early church.

Jesus rose on the third day and not after the third day.

Not one verse states that Jesus rose on the Jewish sabbath day.

Both the Passover and the first day of Unleavened Bread are not even called sabbaths in Leviticus 23.

None of the gospels mention that there were two sabbath days in the week, when Jesus was crucified.

You have nothing to work with, an empty tool box, no evidence, but a figure of speech in Matthew 12:40.

I am not under the law and the sabbath day is meaningless to me, the sabbath day is merely a shadow of the rest we have in Christ.

Your interpretation of the scripture is erroneous and dangerous.

Jesus was crucified and buried on the preparation day (Friday) for the sabbath (Saturday).

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Jesus rose on the third day!

The scripture is solid on this chronology.

None of the gospels mention that there were two sabbath days in the week, when Jesus was crucified.
Leviticus 23:6-8 states the following:

And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. But you shall present a food offering to the Lord for seven days. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. (Leviticus 23:6-8, ESV)

John 19:30 states:

Since it was the day of Preparation, and so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away. (John 19:31, ESV)

The texts from Leviticus and John are evidence that a special High Sabbath was commanded by the Lord during special times, both in the Old Testament and continuing to the time of Jesus and beyond. This special Sabbath is in addition to the weekly Sabbath, and is referred to as a holy convocation or a High Holy Day. It is associated with the celebration of the various Feasts of the Lord to emphasize their solemnity. On that day, no ordinary work was permitted. The first day of the seven-day celebration of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is one such High Holy Day (Sabbath), beginning on Nisan 15.

Wrong. You have 2 partial days, one full day and only two nights. Christ was in the tomb 3 nights so Thursday in the tomb is needed to be scripturally accurate.

Correct. He died on Wednesday close to the start of the next day. That Thursday was a High Sabbath separate from the "low" or common weekly Sabbath on Saturday. That had to get him in the tomb at a precise time so that first day could count to the full three days and nights.

That's correct, Magenta. The first day of Unleavened Bread is not called a Sabbath day in Leviticus 23. No mention of a Sabbath, or even a preparation day for that Sabbath. No mention of a complete rest either. Stick with the text and you cannot go wrong.

Incorrect again, Magenta.

The only reason that the Sabbath is called a high day is because the first day of U.B, occurred on that Sabbath day.

The text states that Jesus was crucified and entombed on the preparation day.

"Since it was the day of Preparation, and so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath"

Notice please, that John simply says, "the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath".

John does not say, the bodies would not remain on the cross on the first day of U.B.

John makes no mention of a mid-week sabbath.

Nor does John state that there were two sabbaths that week.

There is nothing in any of the gospels to support your idea.

Not one gospel author says anything about a midweek sabbath or two sabbath days.

Do you find it odd, that no author mentions these two sabbath days?

Your building your case on a misunderstanding of John 19:31.

Your interpretation cannot be supported from the scripture.
