The Ten Commandments Moses summoned all Israel and said: Hear, O Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them. The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. It was not with our fathers that the Lord made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today. The Lord spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. (At that time I stood between the Lord and you to declare to you the word of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever! “Go, tell them to return to their tents. But you stay here with me so that I may give you all the commands, decrees and laws you are to teach them to follow in the land I am giving them to possess.” So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:1-6,29-33

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. Romans 13:1-5

Rejecting God's laws and commandments is rejection of His words.

There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” John 12:48-50

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? Hebrews 12:25

Walk in Love.

Love is the fulfilment of the law.

So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” Luke 17:10

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
This is great, But we also have to put everything about this law

Deuteronomy 27:26
Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’ ”

This is the requirement, As written by inspiration of God.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Hey wokinluv,

I the following verses finish the thought of the verse you cited and the theme of this thread;

Joh 14:21 KJV He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Exo 20:6 KJV And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Mar 12:30 KJV And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

These are the beginning of Love.

And complimentary verses;

Mat 7:21-23 KJV Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The very last word "iniquity" in the verses above is Greek word "anomia". a-without, nomia/nomos- the Law.

When I reread the verse by replacing the word "iniquity" with it's basic Greek form "without the Law" it opens up verse to mean that Yahshua in the last days declares to those who do good works without the Law are strangers to Him, because they sidestepped the only way in the Word to "Love" Him and to "know" Him.

Bless YHWH! Know and Keep.

So what does that mean? (Remembering that Moses demand of perfection still stands)

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

The problem is

1. True children of God are obedient, Because they have faith (there is no IF in the equation) We love to serve God and love to learn to love, thats WHY we are obedient. (It is not from our power)

2. Without law. Just because you see the word law does not alway mean mosaic. You can not get moses out of your vision. And because of this, you will never see

For "the demand of perfection to still stand", we would need to be living in the year 33ad approx. or before Jesus died, as He set us free from the bondage of following that old law perfectly. Not only did He set us free from being perfect, if we break the law, we repent, we are washed clean. That is what having the spirit within you does. Your are a partaker of all the gifts. The spirit dwells within, leading and guiding you.

If Israel would have had faith, the law would have been to them righteousness. We have faith, WE have received the spirit, and love, THE freedom from the bondage of the OLD way, we don't even have a fear of death. The spirit within us, makes breaking the law hard. It goes against nature of the new creature we have become. We crucify our flesh, we died in the flesh with the Lord, rose in the spirit. Our flesh is no longer in charge, we live in the spirit. They laws are no burden, they are like "air" in our spiritual lives. The sinful nature of the flesh loses power more and more everyday, it is no longer our nature. Obedience for the love of God, doesn't feel like obedience at all.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me. “Come now; let us leave. John 14:27-31

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother. 1 John 4:18,20-21

Walk in Love and God bless.

What is the one thing God can not do? He can not make someone truly love Him. Love has got to be generated from within, to come freely from within the "entity", all on its own or it is not "true", it is created or coerced. God wants our love. Something He must allow each of us to choose on our own. Hence the FREE will. Choose Life. or choose death. it is up to us. He tells us "this is the way to life" and "this is the way to death". If He did it all for us, it would not be us choosing to love Him. It would be Him choosing for us.

In what way was the law weak? It could "expose" your sin, but it could not condemn sin, it could not cast it out, it couldn't 'put' someone in obeyance of it.. It could not forgive the breaking of it, no matter how moral it is. To fix it, would take the work of the Christ. Without Christ, we stand no more of a chance today, as they did then. We truly are so blessed to be living it so easy. I think about all that had to take place to have "sin" forgiven. How very few moments of life were spent "sin" free. And sin feels nasty crawling all over you. I can't imagine only having forgiveness ONCE a year. There are times once a day isn't quick enough

What a blessing that "the Lamb of God" that Perfect Son, who shed His blood, paid the penalty for me, and within an instant of repentance, I am washed clean once again. No waiting, no animal sacrifice, no priest to talk to God for me. Every sin I have acknowledged, blotted out of the book, oh, thank you Lord.

Sorry

But perfection still stands

You either obey perfectly the law.

Or you have to bow and receive christ, those are you only two options.

Yep.

It is not the law of moses which makes us righteous and holy and morally good people. it is the law of Love, We love because God loved us first. It is his power within us that causes us to love, which causes us to walk in a way which is christlike.

The law never could do this, and it can not today

Once again

WE LOVE, BECAUSE GOD LOVED US

We do not conjure up love by our own power. We love based on the fact we have been SAVED by his son.

Not sure what your thinking

When moses said cursed is everyone who does not confirm and OBEY every word of the law given. He meant what he said, The law not only CONDEMNED sin, it CONDEMNED the sinner.

One is imputed, One is carried out (or lived)

One is given BECAUSE we have failed

The other is a lifestyle of those who have been made righteous

I am thinking that is the covenant that no longer is. Yes he meant it, but only for THEN.
Let me ask you something. Where is the law of Moses right now, and what sort of influence does it have on us?

Jesus said until this heaven and earth passes away, not one jot or tittle of the law shall fade away, I tend to agree with jesus

On me? Nothing, except that it confirms my faith in Jesus.

As far as how I live my christian life and become more christlike. It has no bearing whatsoever. It can not teach me how to be a morally upright person who lives like jesus did. That was never its purpose, It completed its job in my life the moment I became like the tax collector and got on my knees.
