Hello @peldom10
There are 2 Greek words for “Hell”....
Hades = prison for departed spirits
Gehenna = Lake of Fire
We know that we will perish without believing in and receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
John 3:16 tells us this Truth...
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

We also know that Jesus Christ preached to the spirits that were in prison...
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also
He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.

And we know there is a great gulf/chasm that no one can cross between Heaven and Hell....
So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in
Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this,
between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

However, Jesus Christ has been given the keys to Death and Hades....
I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And
I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
Revelation 1:18 -

Jesus Christ CAN cross the great gulf/chasm and preach to lost souls in Hades and if they choose to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, He can open the prison door and get them out of Hades “Hell”.
Souls do NOT perish in Hades because at the Great White Throne of Judgment, Death and Hades gives up their lost souls and they are rejoined to their physical body and have to appear before the Great White Throne of Judgment....this is the FINAL Judgment.
Afterwards, BOTH their physical body and soul are cast into Gehenna- The Lake of Fire which is where they finally perish.
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and
Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Hades is a prison and is full of horrible torment where souls wail and gnash their teeth but, do not perish.
In Hades, I believe they still have a last chance to be saved....ONLY by Jesus Christ, amen.
