Do agnostics go to hell?
Some do and some don't. The ignorant can be forgiven by their heavy conscience, which may assault them in their sin and weakness all their lives. Nobody goes to Hell only for their ignorance. The Gospel Testimony is designed by God to free men here and now. Those who weren't able to hear the Gospel won't be condemned for their ignorance.

Sometimes people are witnessed to, but don't believe because the testimony is inadequate for their need and for their background. They may have been damaged by religious people, or damaged in paganism. A special testimony designed just for them is sometimes necessary to reject them. If they reject a genuine testimonial to Christ, it may be only because they remain "damaged," and they will not go to Hell for that.

Would people of little faith or unsure about Jesus, like the disciples or Jesus' own family (prior to the resurrection), go to Heaven? I believe a lot of people fall in this camp.

John
3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Pretty much rules out any middle group or camp. Coming to the light is not on option. All are called. All are without excuse. I don't understand all the details of how the Spirit convicts each individual either. I just believe what the Bible says...

Romans
1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

I would be sorry too if I thought there was no second chance of salvation after one dies BUT, I will now ask you a question.....

Can Jesus Christ go into Hades (Hell) and preach to the spirits that are in prison?

A simple yes or no will suffice. :giggle::love:
God is all knowing and all powerful He can go where, when He wishes and stay as short or as long as He wishes.
But people in hell are lost.
where did you find scripture that there is a second chance for the lost?...please share it.
What you have posted so far does not validate your thinking.

Many people did not even have a "first chance". I believe these people will get their chance, in ways unknown to us.

Hello @peldom10

There are 2 Greek words for “Hell”....

Hades = prison for departed spirits
Gehenna = Lake of Fire

We know that we will perish without believing in and receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

John 3:16 tells us this Truth...

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=John 3:16&version=NKJV

We also know that Jesus Christ preached to the spirits that were in prison...

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
1 Peter 3:18-20 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1 Peter 3:18-20&version=NKJV

And we know there is a great gulf/chasm that no one can cross between Heaven and Hell....

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’
Luke 16:22-26 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Luke 16:22-26&version=NKJV

However, Jesus Christ has been given the keys to Death and Hades....

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
Revelation 1:18 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Revelation 1:18&version=NKJV

Jesus Christ CAN cross the great gulf/chasm and preach to lost souls in Hades and if they choose to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, He can open the prison door and get them out of Hades “Hell”.

Souls do NOT perish in Hades because at the Great White Throne of Judgment, Death and Hades gives up their lost souls and they are rejoined to their physical body and have to appear before the Great White Throne of Judgment....this is the FINAL Judgment.

Afterwards, BOTH their physical body and soul are cast into Gehenna- The Lake of Fire which is where they finally perish.

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:11-15 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Revelation 20:11-15&version=NKJV

Hades is a prison and is full of horrible torment where souls wail and gnash their teeth but, do not perish.

In Hades, I believe they still have a last chance to be saved....ONLY by Jesus Christ, amen.(y)

Hello crossnote,

Crossing the GREAT CHASM between Heaven and Hades (Hell) is NOT POSSIBLE for Abraham or Lazarus BUT....
it is possible for Jesus Christ because ONLY Jesus Christ has been given the keys of Death and Hades (Hell).(y)

I really don't understand why you are calling it a "doctrine"...... it's just something I see and understand as possible ONLY with Jesus Christ.

It gives me hope for loved ones that left this Earth without knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
It gives me hope for all people that have died without knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
It shows me how GREAT God's Saving Arm is......It can reach all the way into the lowest hell and save!

God's Love is soooooo AMAZING!!! I'm in total AWE of God's Love for all of humanity....(y)

He's done absolutely EVERYTHING possible to save us! At the Great White Throne Judgment, it will be over - FINAL.
Hi Lafftur you have a nice outlook.

I totally believe in what is called "the wider mercy" what folks find difficult is matching it up with scripture, "we must have scripture" they cry and they are right.

I believe I identified the problem when I looked into Millennialism, the 1, 000 year reign of Christ on earth with His saints.

The church abandoned this doctrine in the 4th century. But if we think the great white throne or last judgement comes AFTER the 1, 000 years. Then the church will have been raptured a 1, 000 years before, totally passed over from judgement and are in their eternal inheritance. Paul says when He comes to judge God will bring us with Him. Therefore ....

Therefore there is no way those righteous sheeps who do receive commendation and reward can be the church, in fact they are commended because they ministered to the church. So ...

So we have the church which is saved plus all these righteous sheeps ... that make a much wider mercy than evangelicals generally preach.

People forget the "the meek shall inherit the earth"

Yes...God provides ..."wider mercy"....as part of His plan for mankind (just don't interpret that so wide that you change the meaning of His word....Rev 22;18,19, et al.);

1) He sacrificed His son...Jesus Christ to establish.... grace...the umbrella for forgiveness.

3) He gave us unlimited times of forgiveness of sins.

4, etc, etc.

That is very.....wide mercy...don't you think?

God said He desires everyone to be saved. Not everyone knows Jesus/Gospel or had an opportunity to know Jesus/Gospel when they pass away (let me know if you disagree with this). Many people may have heard the name of Jesus but they do not comprehend the Gospel. I believe God will give everyone AT LEAST a first chance for people who did not know Jesus, as He desires everyone to be saved, in ways unknown to us.

how many billions have lived and died without ever hearing the gospel? I do believe the wicked will go into eternal punishment, why should they not? believing the wider mercy releases me to give fair and proper warning.

I never judge who shall be saved or who will be damned in that simplistic way so many evangelicals preach hell fire and brimstone.

I preach that God will judge everybody with perfect fairness ... that is the correct bible balance.

With regard to Revs 22. it is clear this is the final resurrection and judgement as portrayed in Matt. 25. it occurs 1, 000 years after the rapture "..... so shall we ever be with the Lord" so I repeat there is no way the church is being represented as subject to that judgement, it's impossible. And yet we see that there are those who do receive mercy and an inheritance.

Why should we think that the sheeps are just a few straggly forlorn bunch? why may they not be the majority? they receive an inheritance. I don't believe they are heaven bound ... they are the meek who shall inherit the earth.

That is not changing any scripture.

Peter says that after He was risen He went into the spirit world to preach the gospel to those who perished before the flood, that kind of backs up what you are saying.

WOW...do you realize you are questioning God's fairness of His plan for mankind. Do you not understand that God knows the many and sundry elements and conditions under which humans will exist on earth? There are many things we need to concentrate on before questioning His fairness in application of His plan. Further, I wish not to be considered as one who does that.

We must concentrate on witnessing for Christ and addressing His word for the lost.

The Judgement of God bows to the MERCY of God.....;)(y)

The crossing of the Jordan River with the Ark of the Covenant (which is The Mercy Seat and Jordan means Judgment) is a perfect example of how we enter the Promised Land....by the Mercy of God, NOT by the Judgment of God.......just saying......;)
