The Bible does not specifically answer that question, but a baby is incapable understanding the gospel. It is my belief that God is righteous and merciful and will make an exception for babies or people who can't mentally understand.

Jesus said this in John 9:41:
41Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Maybe this is a clue to answering your question.
David and Bathsheba's baby died, but David said by the Holy Spirit that "he would go to him, but he will never return to me." David had knowledge that the unfortunate infant that died was in Heaven.

John the Baptist recognized the presence of Jesus while both were still being carried in the wombs of their mothers.

ONLY Jesus Christ CAN cross the great chasm between Heaven and Hell.

ONLY Jesus Christ CAN save.

ONLY Jesus Christ has the keys to Death and Hades (Hell).

Just consider the MAGNITUDE of God's Presence and His great Love.......

Psalm 139:7-9 King James Version (KJV)
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Mercy triumphs over judgment....God would rather forgive than to condemn....However, AFTER the Great White Throne of Judgment....it's OVER, no more mercy...Judgment is FINAL.

There is a chance for lost souls in Hell to encounter the Presence of Jesus Christ and be saved.
Your claim souls in hell can be saved in the afterlife is false, and heretical in the opinion of many.

Scripture clearly teaches man will be judged according to things done in his human body, once this body dies, the fate of the soul is sealed.

Your doctrine Appears to be closely related to the RCC purgatory, are you Roman Catholic by chance?

2 Corinthians 5:10KJV
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

It is possible that the day of salvation could happen even in Hell....Jesus Christ has the keys of Death and Hades (Hell).
Your claim is false, a person must be in a human body and have a physical mouth for confession to salvation.

Romans 10:9-9KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 Peter 4:17-18KJV
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

I see the problem you have created, yes, and part of it is you thinking I must look at things the way you do. You ignore that Jesus taught through parables. You ignore that this is pre-crucifixion. You ignore that nobody was in heaven yet. Do you really want to say that dead people can change their hearts and minds about God? I suppose you can if you want. It is a very liberal, non-Biblical view. According to you, apparently Jesus was mistaken to say a great chasm that has been fixed between two groups of people, so that even those who wish cannot cross from one side to another.
I get a lot of my ideas from an ancient text the Odes of Solomon. It's neither modern, nor trendy but Jewish from about 100AD haha
In it Christ enters hell and saves
The idea of a great chasm does rely on a literal understanding of the Lazarus story being correct, I get very wary when something is stated as being 'pre-Crucifixion' so should be ignored (so Lazarus would be condemned post-Crucifixion for not knowing Jesus?), yet we are supposed to take literally and not ignore other things. I find this very confusing so i try and find a way not to be confused that is where the Odes came in. They took away my confusion without spelling out exactly how it all works - Jesus doesn't do that ? :) ! They just gave me a little bit of hope

Anyway the Odes put it like this, when I read them i thought yes these are inspired writings

Sheol saw me and was shattered, and Death ejected me and many with me.
I have been vinegar and bitterness to it, and I went down with it as far as its depth.
Then the feet and the head it released, because it was not able to endure my face.
And I made a congregation of living among his dead; and I spoke with them by living lips; in order that my word may not be unprofitable.
And those who had died ran towards me; and they cried out and said, Son of God, have pity on us.
And deal with us according to Your kindness, and bring us out from the bonds of darkness.
And open for us the door by which we may come out to You; for we perceive that our death does not touch You.
May we also be saved with You, because You are our Savior.
Then I heard their voice, and placed their faith in my heart.
And I placed my name upon their head, because they are free and they are mine

What do you think these verses mean?
The verses I cited from Genesis?

I'll put them here.

Genesis 28:20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

This is what I think they mean (take with a grain of salt.)

Notice Jacob makes the vow? Yet read the word "if" and then God performing the following requirements. All hinges on "if" God will perform the vow. So, basically, this is talking about "the root" and "abiding in the root."

So, if God will be with me (indwell) and will keep me on this way that I go (direct my steps) and will give me bread to eat (spiritual food, knowledge, understanding and wisdom) and raiment to put on (covering for sins)

so that I come again to my father's house in peace (returning to God in peace and not fall under wrath) then shall the LORD be my God.

If God doesn't do these things for us, then he's not our God and we're not his sons.

That is my interpretation.

Hmmm...."in the OPINION of many"....... Opinions are not FACT......just saying...lol! :giggle:

Scripture clearly teaches man will be judged according to things done in his human body, once this body dies, the fate of the soul is sealed.

Hmmm.....your statement has some Truth mixed with some OPINIONS.....:giggle:

First, the scriptures do NOT teach us; the Holy Spirit teaches us the scriptures. We'll read that Holy Bible and think we know everything....:giggle: But, really we know NOTHING unless the Holy Spirit teaches us by giving us understanding of the scriptures.:love:(y)

Second, it is true that the scriptures plainly state that man will be judged according to ALL things done in his human body - good and bad.

2 Corinthians 5:10KJV
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

HOWEVER, the scriptures NEVER state that the fate of the soul is sealed upon death of the body. Instead, the FINAL Judgment is the Lake of Fire, NOT Hades (Hell).

Your doctrine Appears to be closely related to the RCC purgatory, are you Roman Catholic by chance?
It's not my doctrine. I never called it "my doctrine.":giggle: I simply stated that I believe it is possible for Jesus Christ to save a lost soul from the pit of Hell because He is the ONLY Savior, He has been given the keys to Death and Hades (Hell), and no lost souls perish in Hell - lost souls perish in the Lake of Fire.

I am not Roman Catholic, never have been.:giggle::love:

Your claim is false, a person must be in a human body and have a physical mouth for confession to salvation.

Romans 10:9-9KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Hmmm.....aren't the lost souls in Hell wailing and gnashing their teeth..... and didn't Jesus tell the parable about the rich man in Hades speaking to Abraham about Lazarus.....in Luke 16......

The lost souls in Hell do have a mouth and do speak according to Jesus Christ's own words.

1 Peter 4:17-18KJV
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
The gospel of God is the saving faith revealed by the Holy Spirit that it is absolute Truth that Jesus Christ is the One and Only Savior for all of mankind - Jew and Gentile. All mankind is lost and can only be saved by receiving the gift of salvation by receiving the Blood and Body of Jesus Christ. There is absolutely no other way to be saved.

Judgment begins at the house of God yet, the FINAL Judgment is NOT until the Lake of Fire, then all lost souls have sealed their fate.

I think there should be clarification when saying the Holy Spirit teaches us and we fail to say what Jesus said about the Holy Spirit
in John chapter 14 to 16.

He will teach you and lead you into all Truth. And bring into remembrance everything I( Jesus ) have said.

When Jesus is speaking HE is always the supreme authority in scripture. If there is a perceived contradiction between Jesus and Paul that it solely with the one own understanding Be cause Paul never did.

BUT IF that is the outlook then Jesus is to be obeyed over what Paul said every time.

Jesus said those who didn't believe in the Only Begotten of the FATHER are CONDEMNED ALREADY.

Jesus said In John chapter 3:18-21

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

Jesus said Matthew 10:28

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell..

I'm curious, then whose doctrine is it?

@Lafftur , Going back to the rich man and Lazarus, we see this truth...

And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ Luke 16:26

Regarding the word 'fixed', the ALGNT Greek dictionary states..."literally, as setting up something so that it remains immovable fix (firmly), establish, support (LU 16.26);

The CWSB commenting on this verse and word...(I) In the perf. pass., estḗriktai (Luke 16:26, meaning is set fast, established permanently, stands fixed; Sept. Gen. 28:12).

Heck we don't need Greek Lexicons as the verse plainly states A GREAT CHASM has been FIXED and there is NO CROSSING from where the rich man is to where Abraham is.

You have stated 'it is possible'

Jesus made it quite clear it is NOT POSSIBLE. Are you sure you want to push this 'iffy' 'doctrine that (is not?) yours?

Hello @CS1

Every lost soul on Earth or in Hell is condemned already BUT, if they call on the Name of Jesus Christ the ONLY Savior and believe in Him, then they shall be saved.

In Matthew 10:28 the Greek word for hell is Gehenna which refers to the Lake of Fire which is the FINAL Judgment. The BODY and the SOUL is thrown in the Lake of Fire.

The bodies buried on Earth that belong to the lost souls in Hades (Hell) are resurrected at the Second Resurrection and reunited with their lost soul in Hades (Hell) and have to appear before the Great White Throne of Judgment. Together Body and Soul are thrown into the Lake of Fire.

I understand the Greek terminology and the systematic range of means too.

So a person's soul in hell of one who has
physically died can still be saved if they call on Jesus?
I do not want to read into what I think you are saying. Do you believe that? A simple yes or no will suffice.

Thank you.

LOl ok,

but I'm sorry to tell you there is no second chance of salvation after one dies without coming to Christ before. After the resurrection of Jesus, there is no example of anyone in the word of God saved after they died. Only in the context of past patriarchs we see this possible.

On the day of Pentacost, it was asked of Peter Acts 2:37

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

Peter said :

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”

Then those who gladly received his word were baptized, and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

This was all said to those who were alive no one was dead or was the message for those who are dead already.

it is possible for Jesus Christ because ONLY Jesus Christ has been given the keys of Death and Hades (Hell).
So Abraham lied when he said it is not possible? He's been with Jesus some 1000 years (at the time of the story), you'd think he'd know better than us by then.

I really don't understand why you are calling it a "doctrine"...... it's just something I see and understand as possible ONLY with Jesus Christ.
A rose by any other name is still a rose. Call it what you want. Is it your teaching or did someone share it with you?

It gives me hope for loved ones that left this Earth without knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
It gives me hope for all people that have died without knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
It shows me how GREAT God's Saving Arm is......It can reach all the way into the lowest hell and save!
A person could say the same sort of thing for Universalism, but we shouldn't base teachings of Scripture as true because they make us 'feel' good.

God's Love is soooooo AMAZING!!! I'm in total AWE of God's Love for all of humanity....(y)

He's done absolutely EVERYTHING possible to save us! At the Great White Throne Judgment, it will be over - FINAL.
His love is amazing but it ought be communicated accurately...

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

Can Jesus Christ go into Hades (Hell) and preach to the spirits that are in prison?

FYI he already did that LOL.

Jesus can do all things but go against His word or the will of the Father.
