Do people actually speak in Tongues (for real) anymore?

I do beleive in the baptism of the Holy Spirit upon a believer and it gives us power to witness, just as Acts 1.8 states.

I do to. The baptism of the HS is what cleanses us.

The annointing of the HS (the HS coming into you) is what gives us gifts.

Not everyone gets the gift of tongues or any gift. The HS only gives those to select people. and only for select purposes.

why would I want him to speak spanish through me? Or german. Or hebrew? What purpose would that serve (unless no one spoke that particular language and God needed him to hear the truth then)

I would rather God give me a gift he can actually use.. not one that there is no need of.

There is dual working of the holy spirit on the believer within and upon.

Within is for character/fruit and upon is for power/gifts/service.

Tell you about an event I witnessed. The preacher where I got saved came to visit another church I attended one sunday evening.
There were no foreigners, no folks that couldn't speak english, just a bunch of ole dumb Americans. And this preacher proceeded to stand up and babble nonsense to the congregation. And then he "interpreted" what he said.
Friend, do you really think that if God has a message for you He delivers it in such a convoluted manner? Ridiculous. I didn't get saved in that preachers church because he saved me, I got saved because God had burdened me and I just so happened to be in that place when I repented. I would have been saved, under the same circumstances, in a bar.

I have seen this time and time again and it serves NO purpose.
"Let all things be done to edifying"....."tongues" or babbling, edifies no one. It is not of God as it is practiced today.

You think things don't change? You think God brought the new testament in vain, that the old was good enough? You think that God doesn't have a purpose for things, and when that purpose is served they can't be phased out?

Never been on the mission field eh bro?

I was in Russia at a Russian meeting once and starting speaking in what you and your posse call babbling, but the people in the meeting who knew no English only heard me preaching to them in Russian and many were saved, healed and delivered.

It would appear you like to work for God and others work unto him.

Hey, don't sweat it, at least you got a bunch of green hash marks.

it is obvious you are blind and do not listen to a word I have said.

Not saying you did not do it. But if that really happened. then praise God. for that is the ONLY way it should happen.

I am speaking against the crap we see in holy roller churches. That is not from God.

I think you need an attitude check there my friend.

The word disagrees with you.

1 Cor 14.4 says:
[SUP]4 [/SUP]He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

So you see tongues does edify someone.

You seem to be giving the devil credit all the time and also have no idea what the Bible says about tongues, otherwise you would not have said that tongues serves to edify nobody.

You will find that as long as you keep that sword on the belt of truth, you will never know how to wield against it the devil

Dude you need an attitude check. Your making a fool of yourself. Green hash marks dont mean a thing. people have them that are not very smart.

I said, If God needs to use them, he will,

I then said if God needed me to speak in spanish or any language he would.

Then you came back and bashed me with a remark he spoke through you in Russia. and started attacking me.

Since i said, God would do what he supposedly did through you he would. You made your self look foolish by attacking me with your remarks. Because you did not read a word I said.

Grow up some won't you? Stop thinking everyone is out to get you and actually listen to what they say, and you will not have to act like a child!
