If God wanted you with filed nails I'm sure He would have made you that way.

Works for everything, you said.

Nope you are taking. God has your finger nails growing. So by you filing them you are taking away from his creation.

Although you seem to belive that I am an Angel - you are mistaken.
I file my nails - its called maintanence - also - if you can tell me where about in the bible it says I can not cut/file my nails - I would be very happy to hear it so I can mend my ways

Where in Christian Tradition is there anything against piercings, tattoos, make up or dyed hair?

I've got another question. What about clothing?

And another. What about camouflage cream for soldiers?

Thank you. I was going to ask about the tattoos and piercings myself. You can't say that it is harming the temple of God either, cause it isn't. I have had that one pulled on me before, yet it isn't harming the temple of God, it is decorating it :)

Honestly, there are so many more important things in my heart that God wants me to work out. I frankly think it makes Him happy that a little extra color might brighten my day when I look in the mirror. Just one of those little things that makes me smile and boosts my confidence a bit. Therefore, I'm not thinking about hair, I'm thinking about what I need to be thinking about.)

I have a tattoo and a septum piercing from my rebel days. Don't regret them, they're kind of a reminder why I turned away from sin.

It don't matter. but its about motives i suppose. expression is good, and can be used artistically in clothes, hair, makeup etc. but on the other hand when things are done to impress, because of fear of rejection or rebellion or some other need based motive then its just a fruit of an unwholeness. We need to be healed, thats the deeper issue, and God is well able, if we are honestly pursueing Him, and have a clean conscience, to reveal aywhere that we need healing and that He wants to touch. ultimately God looks at the heart and if you honestly believe you are righteous in what you do then thas fine. Let God be the Judge and be pen to change :D

Hi honey, my name is Helen and i'm new to this chat room, so i hope i don't make any mistakes. But I think that the reson that people dye thier hair and do all the vain things to make themselves to be/ or look like someone else is because they DON'T have the Love of GOD or EVEN GOD/JESUS in their lives. when self rules their lives, it's really the devil in control. A lot of the population don't no nor understand this, but we that no and LOVE JESUS do and it's up to us "by GOD'S grace" to tell them. I can see that ur mum has brought you up to Love JESUS and HIS Father and that is just wonderful, I pray that you keep on walking with THEM both. May GOD bless you and your family.:)

Yes GOD does look upon the heart, and what did JESUS say to the people about who His family is " it's those people that walk like HIM, as in self denial of ALL WORLDLY attractions" as this is SATAN'S world but we look and strive for the world to come. Not I LORD, but THEE in me. HE say's that HE wishes that we are hot and not luke warm, for if we are luke warm HE will spue us out of HIS mouth. We are to have confidence in HIM not our selves, for if we have confidence in HIM we will never be UN-confident

If you dye your hair and your mum or dad said not to, that's a sin.

I understand where you are coming from. But, in some cases what your parents say isn't always what you should follow. For instance, I realise that the bible says to obey your parents, well what if your parents tell you to go steal your lunch? What would be considered the sin? Stealing your lunch? Or disobeying your parents?

The difference here is that there is nothing sinful about not dying your hair, but there is about theft.

I think such an extreme example isn't a good one. We're talking about something "neutral": dying your hair. Not about something what is explicit wrong.
So, when your parents do prohibit something neutral (what is in the most of the cases not neutral for them), it should be better to obey and show your love to them. I realise this is in some situations very difficult!

I am giving an example, cause this is far from an unheard of case. I am being serious. what should the child do? Either way are they sinning? or no? And this wasn't even as extreme as I was going to say. I know a kid who just put another kid in the hospital with serious brain trauma because his parents told him that this kid needed to learn a lesson and that he should "teach" him. So I am being quite serious about my question.

I don't believe that honouring one's parents extends to following their illigitimate orders. We all have a duty to resist sin, no matter what our parents tell us to do. Sometimes allegiance to Christ will separate us from friends and family. Put simply, God trumps your parents.

I think that it is not true that you should listen to your parent in every situation. Jesus said in Matt 10:37: 37 "If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine;

Jesus asks us to show more radicality in following Him, then in obeying your parents. Of course Gods will is higher then people's...
