I hate to hear you say that sister. I enjoyed reading your testimony earlier, though you suffered much, God is glorified.

I do hold to the assurance of salvation, or OSAS. I believe the devil has as much reason to fight against us once we are saved as he did trying to destroy us before we got saved.

We try and do what is right because we are children of God. In His service here.

Quantrill
I am not sure, but i think many think the fight for OSAS is a fight for calvanism, and sadly, it leads people from realising the truth of Gods promises.

Thats why I actually have come to HATE the term. Istead of saying OSAS (a calvin term) I would rather say eternal security, or use Gods own words, eternal life.

But if we were osas then giving us doubt and trying toto make us leave God wouldnt make any sense.
I dont believe it is easy to loose salvation. But it is nowhere impossible.
Looking where Jesus told people he doesnt know them, eventhough they even did miracles in his name is a good example of how cautious we have to be. They said Lord Lord so they believed they were his. Yet they werent
can I ask you a question.

if it is IMPOSSIBLE to earn the right to be saved, How could it ever be possible to un-earn the right to continue to be saved. Would that not make it possible to EARN the right to be saved?

Love you sis, not trying to be mean or judge you. just trying to converse.

I am not twisting anything,

If you do not believe in eternal security, You believe life is conditional, not eternal, thus Everything I said is true.
U twisted it very well. I never said that if someone stays safe that they wont make, it to heaven. I just pointed out that u can loose ur salvation.

I never said it is impossible to be amd stay saved and inherit the kingdom of God. But by free will someone can give up their salavation due to free will. Or even being lukea warm

Then Sadly, you are in fact saying what I said.

that eternal life (which God says we have) is not eternal, thus it is meaningless (how cna you lose eternal life, if you can, ITS NOT ETERNAL is it?)

That salvation and justification (which God says is a gift) is nonsense, because it must be earned, or else it may be lost

and that the assurance of God is nonsense, because God assures us eternal life, his promises based on HIS work, not ours.. thus he is untrustworthy

I do not see any other way of interpreting you

If I have to not be lukewarm, or by my power continue to believe. Then I must earn salvation by doing these things.

So How can one claim salvation is a gift?

Demi, remind me... do you believe that Jesus is God?

Because if you do not accept basics of Christian faith, of course you will have problem with OSAS etc.

Do you guys believe in once saved always saved doctrine? I think this is ridiculous. There is no where in scripture that says this. Where are these Christians getting this from? I would like to know your thoughts about this.
Succinctly? Yes I believe the Gospel.

There are many who believe Jesus is God but believe you can lose your salvation. They are still Christian.

When she said salvation can be lost. It is the same as saying that. She has to explain why I am wrong in what I said, she can not just say she did not say that. Because by interpretation. That is exactly what she (and every who denies eternal security) believes.

How?

What makes them any different than the jews who rejected the grace of God and taught a different gospel?

How can we claim we have faith in God. Then turn that faith back to self. And claim we have to meet some standard, or God will not keep his promise to us?

I will make one post in this thread and after that good luck if you believe salvation can be lost.....

It is MORE absurd and IGNORANT to believe salvation can be lost based upon the following truths, promises and words that MUST BE REJECTED, DENIED, TWISTED or TRAMPLED UNDER FOOT......FOR salvation to be lost the following MUST be false.

a. I will NEVER leave thee nor FORSAKE THEE
b. We are SAVED to the UTTERMOST
c. WE are KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD THROUGH FAITH
d. IF WE believe NOT (AFTER FAITH) HE abides faithful because HE CANNOT DENY HIMSELF
e. We are in the SON'S HAND<-NO MAN can yank us away
f. We are in the FATHER's HAND<-NO man can YANK us away
g. We are sealed with the HOLY SPIRIT of PROMISE UNTO the DAY of REDEMPTION
h. WE are born of INCORRUPTIBLE SEED by the HOLY SPIRIT from ABOVE
I. THE GIFTS of GOD are IRREVOCABLE
J. SALVATION IS A FREE GIFT
k. WE are given ETERNAL LIFE <-NOT temporal based upon performance
l. OUR freely given LIFE is EVERLASTING <-NOT temporal based upon performance
m. NOTHING shall separate us from the LOVE OF GOD
n. JESUS said he will LOSE NOTHING but will RAISE IT UP THE LAST DAY
o. WHATSOEVER GOD does is EVERLASTING <- including SAVING US
p. HE that believes on the SON IS HAVING EVERLASTING LIFE
q. THESE things are written that YOU MAY KNOW YOU HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE
r. WE ARE JUSTIFIED ETERNALLY by the BLOOD of CHRIST dia FAITH
s. WE are Sanctified in Christ positionally and ETERNALLY <--SEE HEBREWS
t. JESUS will leave the 99 to FIND US if we walk AWAY
u. WE are chastened for disobedience NOT CAST AWAY
v. SOME have works of wood, hay and stubble yet are SAVED SO A BY FIRE
w. THE prodigal was a SON and ALIVE throughout the WHOLE PROCESS and only PERCEIVED as dead and still received as a SON
x. IF we are in Christ we are NOT CONDEMNED <-John and Romans
y. SALVATION is spoken of in ALL THREE verb tenses and a PERFECT TENSE VERB = PRESENT continuing result from a past completed action

AND ON and ON and ON and ON.........EVERY ONE of the above truths must be denied, rejected or twisted out of context to believe the drivel that salvation can be lost and this is just off the top of my head at 8 am with no coffee yet......There are NO verses IN context that teach a salvation that can be lost like a coin at the local park.....and those who peddle such are akin to a street organ player with a dancing monkey in Calcutta playing and dancing for said COIN......

It must be tragic to serve such a weak, inept god that cannot keep you saved or one that needs help to maintain that which already IS by faith..........

Again, that is the way you are interpreting. But, again, that is not what she said. And, it seems to me, that your interpretation carried with it a different attitude then hers also.

As I mentioned in another post, there are plenty of Christians who believe you can lose your salvation. And many are very Godly people.

Because they have placed faith in Jesus Christ.

Because they have not rejected the grace of God. They have not believed or taught another gospel.

Seems odd. Are you trying to say one who has placed faith in Christ, didn't place faith in Christ unless they believed you can't lose your salvation?

And where did I say that?

What does God require for us to be saved? Do I have to believe one way or another concerning eternal security? Do I have to believe one way or another concerning the Millennium? Do I have to believe one way or another concerning the Trinity?

Because they have placed faith in Jesus Christ.
They have? Then why do they Not have faith God will keep his promises?

Because they have not rejected the grace of God.
I disagree, they are spitting on grace of God. saying it is no sufficient, That the gift we recieve by grace can be lost (whatever means that grace is lost does not matter)

They have not believed or taught another gospel.
Again, yes they have, they do not teach the same gospel I teach. we both can not be right.

Seems odd. Are you trying to say one who has placed faith in Christ, didn't place faith in Christ unless they believed you can't lose your salvation?

Jesus said he will never lose us, That whoever has faith in him will NEVER die Live FOREVER, HAS eternal life, has passed from death to life, WILL be risen on the last day and as long as jesus lives, they will live also. God said he has perfected FOREVER those who are BEING sanctified. Paul said we have eternal life the moment we believed, not only this but the seal f the spirit as a pledge. He also said we have been given EVERY spiitual blessing which is in Christ, that we have been justified completly. John said we can KNOW we have eternal life (not might have) and by this FACT continue to believe. That once we are adopted. we can no longer live in sin (unbelief is a sin, continuing in unbelief is living in sin) and that those who once procliamed to be part of the church, and now of their free will all of a sudden deny Christ, they were never saved to being with. that those who have true faith would NEVER chose to freely leave (why would they?)

How can we claim to have faith in God. yet not believe these things are facts?

I can not get how you can say they do
