Do you believe that it is biblically acceptable to have women in church teaching men in an authority position. If you do, please support your belief with scripture giving examples and make your defense of the passages which seem to be in opposition to your belief.

And please, try to keep it civil. :)

God is the husband, and the church(zion) is his woman
the church can never be above God, he always be the boss.can not turn things upside
down??

I was reading through Deuteronomy (wow, got it right from memory :) ) the other day and I was struck by how much of the "law" was just plain old common sense. Just one example. In chapter 23, verses 9 through 13, God discusses how to keep war camps "clean". "When you are encamped against your enemies, keep away from everything impure. ... Designate a place outside the camp where you can go to relieve yourself. As part of your equipment have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement." What the Israelites regarded as "law", we see as simple basic hygiene.

I think that most of the biblical attitude toward women can be summed up by the following. "A woman's place is in the home." Chauvinistic? Radical? Unfair? Not if you believe many modern day observers of society. Evidence is mounting that proves that the decline of America can be traced directly to the breakdown of the traditional family. Thank you feminist movement. (I don't dignify it with capitalization.)

Therefore, based on Biblical reasoning, women couldn't be officials in the church because they were supposed to be at home, minding the hearth fires. This role was not demeaned in any way. Read Proverbs' description of the "noble wife". However, it was incompatible with any other tasks which might take precedence over her primary wifely duties.

So, I guess that the most reasonable answer to the question "Can women be pastors?" would be "only if they are not married, nor have any other familial responsibilities".

ah i see a disagreement. it is a matter of discernment, but the only scripture that come to mind in response is Proverbs?? i dont remember exactly but it talks about: To every thing there is a season.

Proverbs 3
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.

therefore I do not seek to be wise in my own eyes, i seek to do the will of My Father who art in Heaven. He just hasn't told me which way to go yet.

Proverbs 15

1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly,
But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place,
Keeping watch on the evil and the good.
4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

I think Jesus had women play roles inside the church. let me do some more research and post it from Acts

New Testament mentioning of women:

Matthew 27:55
And many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there looking on from afar,

Mark 15:40
There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome,

Mark 15:41
who also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.

Luke 8:2
and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons

Luke 23:49
But all His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

Luke 24:10
It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.

Luke 24:22
Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us.

Acts 13:50
But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.

Acts 17:4
And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas.

Acts 17:12
Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.

1 Corinthians 14:34
Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says.

1 Corinthians 14:35
And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.

Philippians 4:2-4 (New King James Version)

Be United, Joyful, and in Prayer

2 I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 And[a] I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

there you go WOMEN who labored as missionaries with Paul. Biblical basis. I'm firmly rooted in the Bible, there are things I don't understand but women have more roles to play in the world then just being barefooted and pregnant at home. the BIBLE tells us this, who is MAN to tell us differently?

question:

If we are to come to the Kingdom of God as little children and children are entrusted to the teachings of women, then why can't they be teachers? I'm not talking about power over men in the church (though GOD should have all power, but I'll let the Holy Spirit take care of that one) I"m talking about teaching and edification. Just a thought.

I really did not read that many posts so i will post for this........

Now when Paul was talking about women not able to speak in churches....he wasn't talking to us.....it was his response to them and he wasn't happy with that....lets read....because this is were people get misinterpretations of this scriptures....

1 Corinthians 14:34-36

34Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

see if you read the part after paul was responding to what they were doing in there churches.......not telling people "hey you cannot let women speak"......
you see Paul was talking to the church of corinthians and they were practicing this sexist act and paul simply responded

again i did not read many posts so if i repeated some else forgive me trying to show the understanding of this :)

I believe in the last days God will use female minister too...

Consider this prophecy... Also preached by Peter

Joel 2:28-32
28 “And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
29 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
30 I will show wonders in the heavens
and on the earth,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
31 The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.
32 And everyone who calls
on the name of the LORD will be saved;
for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
there will be deliverance,
as the LORD has said,
even among the survivors
whom the LORD calls.

In the case of Paul's instruction - it is actually a cultural considerations...

The first person to speak the Gospel was a woman,,, when she came back from the grave and said He is Risen!!!! God speaks to woman just as he does men. To say that woman cant preach the gospel is alie straight from the pits of hell

yes I do support

yes I do

We all know and believe women are capable of giving spiritual teaching. We know it.
Does God tell me this is ok? Yes.
Jesus told me to pray for myself.
Jesus said the priests of his day were like old mens bones in whitewash tombs...so why are we STILL listening to what the priests of his day say? Jesus message was to question the Koran and not to take it all literally. He taught us that the priests wanted to own our religion but Jesus wanted us to be able to have our own personal connection to God. Jesus took a disabled man and lowered him down into a church when the priests believed disabled people were spiritually unclean! he didn't want us to be imprisoned by the priests and teachings of the day, and he gave us just one example of how to pray for ourselves...our father who art in heaven. He was trying to tell us to think for ourselves!!

We all know and believe women are very capable of delivering spiritual teaching.
Stop being afraid.
Jesus message was for positive change.

i was studying, our women's bible study this month is from Jennifer Kostyal's "Moving in Faith:Taking off the Robes"

This week the chapter is about Religion and Traditions. I just wanted to quote some things that I found interesting for my fellow women and children of God

(note men I'm excluding you because I don't want to be accused of teaching men or anything like that, but if you come and try and learn as a child as the Bible tells all believers to be then you are more then welcome to read the rest since she like me is but a mere woman striving to reach others with GOD's message)

"What you must remember is that Satan is a legalist and he will quickly remind you of your faults and failings. In fact the Bible describes him as the "accuser of our brethren" (Rev. 12.10) His number one objective is for you to doubt the WORD of God and God's love for you. He wants you to run FROM God instead of TO Him. But do not fall for it! WHen you mess up, turn in your Bible to 1 John 1:9

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

I will tell you what I like to tell my children: When you confess your sins its is like taking a bath with "holy Ghost super soap." you become as clean as if you had never missed it in the first place."

Ephesians 3:17-19

"May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love, that you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints (God's devoted people, the experieince of that love) what is the breadth and length and height and depth (of it) (that you may really come) to know (pratically through experience fro yourselves) the love of Christ, which far surpasses mer Knowledge (without experience)

therefore watch what you say and type and ask yourself if the words you speak really bring forth the glory of God or is it spoken just for contention?

All the women pastors I've met don't seek to teach MEN just CHILDREN of God. therefore what is the issue?

34 Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

Women obviously refers to wives. In my studies of the original Greek, speak is to talk without purpose, just talking, nothing to do with teaching, a woman is not supposed to submit to men, the bible does not say that but her own husband. So, in church she is not to dominate her husband claiming some spiritual authority in church. The bible specifically speaks of men as judges over Israel, yet Deborah was a judge. Records do show that females were pastors, it's just that men deny it & claim a different interpretation. Like when John writes to the lady & her church. There is reference to a female as a Bishop but most translators say, that is a mistaken translation.
Paul in the same letter speaks of when women stand up to pray or prophesy without her head covering (again this is related to marriage) so either he is confused or we are. He is writing about keeping order in the church & not having everyone talking the same time. He also writes that if men should be quiet if they have a tongue but no interpreter. Every passage Paul mentions women submitting you can see obvious reference to wives.
God prophesied that men & women, young & old will carry his message in Joel.

I support the women pastors , women have always been important to God and they understand a side of the father for example the woman with the issue she pushed the limits and touched his feet , the woman with the possed daughter she got a blessing before time . 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels(1 Corinthians 11:3,10).

Like the military, business, schools, and governments, and other organizations, they have a authority structure so things operate smoothly.

God has an authority structure for how things should operate on earth, with angels being last in the authority structure.

Angels are ministering spirits to those who shall inherit salvation, and the angels desire to look in to the salvation of the saints, for the saints will have a higher position in heaven than the angels, for they will have a glorified body like God's glorified body, and rule with Jesus on earth,a privilege the angels will never have.

The man to operate rightly in that position according to that authority structure, would mean to operate by the will of God,teaching the ways of God,loving their wives as Christ loves the Church, being an example of godly living.

That authority structure seems like it would not apply to the world, for they would not fit in,for they do not comply to the rules, being a rebellious world, children not even wanting to listen to parents, although God wants them to fit in,and the way it should be.

This is so things run smoothly without the bickering over who's in charge, not being productive.

A man and a woman are equal in the Lord, for there is no authority structure between them in the spiritual world, heaven,in which they belong to the kingdom right now,for Jesus said the kingdom of God is within you, which is the Holy Spirit.

The only thing the separates a man and a woman is the flesh, the spirit and soul are the same.

I dont know much. I know back in the biblical days it was more of that culture to have women be below men. But now in todays day and culture we are closer to equality than before.
(But farther in other ways)
So I chose the third choice but maybe I am wrong and the bible DOES support it.

Real quick here....just because someone preaches, or labors in, the gospel or ministers to another doesn't make them a PASTOR.

Now, with that said, let's return to what the ORIGINAL POST asked about.

Women as PASTORS.

Gods word is very clear on this. Many, many different roles a woman can have doing God's work. Evidence is all throughout scripture. A pastor of a Church isn't one of them!!! Either you believe God or you don't. God is the same yesterday, today, & tomorrow. He never changes. Just because people & times change means nothing to God, other than we are falling farther & farther away from Him into depravity. Most of the Worldly People of today want to follow their man made traditions & doctrines instead of The Words of God. Which category do you fall into?

How can this be? If God truly has NO respect of persons, then says that a woman can never be a pastor, how can this be for a God who does not change? If we are to take these as being LITERAL, then either this is a contradiction or this is not understood correctly.,
