I did not say at anytime that Jesus was making money. What I am saying is people are taking a story and running.
God and Jesus may not have made money but the story does . I think God rested after creating everything do not think he has worked since.
Hey maybe he started social security/welfare system so I am wrong we do have something to thank him for.
And if you think that churches are not making money get the log out of your eye.

I always minister online to atheists and non Christians and this question frequently pops up in the forums. I find it a very interesting topic and find I learn more from the bible by sifting through each supposed contradiction.
(for the record I personally don't think the bible has any contradictions)
But what I find shocking is that I hear some christians agree that the bible has contradictions. They say that the bible is man made and full of error, and that one has to look through the 'lens of the tradition' in order to understand the concept of the bible.
So my question is, do you believe the bible has contradictions or not and why?
If you believe the bible has contradictions how would you respond to an atheist or non christian who uses that as evidence that christianity is false?
Why would God allow a contradictory bible into our hands?

Maybe I am wrong here but numbering and counting are the same thing. So who ever told him to do this both told him the same thing.
And I think it is time God or Satan did their own dirty work. And why should David be punished if he did not know the consequence of the order in the first place.
How many people have died because of religious wars I wonder I do not know the answer. But WOW

Cobus let me give you a fact: Talk and words are very cheap. Bottom line is when a person is faced with fact and has to stand up and be counted. WHAT WILL HE DO you will not know till it happens because everyone will swear to the fact they stand true.

I am fine I refer to others who come in some with genuine problems, marriage breakups etc (thought that would have been a joyful cry unto the Lord) and instead of getting any constructive advice.........
They get a whole heap of scripture. When all they really need is a shoulder to cry on. To just pour out their problems. Tell somebody what their needs are. Someone to take an interest in THEM

Do not have the slightest idea what a prayer is, never mind how to say one ?
Take the time to find out who and what these people are what they are looking for.

If your a salesperson you go to someones house. If you are showing products a good salesperson does not drop everything at the buyers feet and start spouting the virtues of their product.
They will try to find out the persons interests. If the person is gardening they will converse about the plants the flowers.
They will try to find out what the person could be interested in from their product. What the person will achieve from buying it. Remember people are only interested in what is in it for them. How will they benefit from it.
They build that persons trust in what they are selling. If they came in opened a manual and started spouting from it they would lose their customer and a sale is not made
Does not matter what you people think or like. Religion is a sales gimmick it is used to sell the church through faith.
It is to convert people.
All you guys are doing is putting people off side. Your not taking any interest in the person your just shoving God down their throat. YOUR NOT MAKING A SALE YOUR ONLY PREACHING TO EACH OTHER. YOUR PREACHING TO THE CONVERTED LOL

I voted "yes". I *think* it has contradictions. Perhaps I'm just misunderstanding, but almost every time I read the bible, I see words that seem to go opposite other words I've read in the past. Even on this site, I see people in heated debates quoting different scriptures that support somewhat opposite views. No one can even agree on a meaning sometimes, because everyone thinks their own interpretations are the correct ones to be emphasized.

You see my friend the only reason you talk bad about God like doing His OWN DIRTY WORK, you actually depict God. That is EXACTLY what god does.... Only thing is it is not dirty work.... There is a song we sing... What a friend we have in Jesus, He that wants to take my place... AND HE DOES.
God did not create Adam to be sinner, it was his choice. Just like you and me, we were not BORN SINNERS, we chose to become sinners. The fact that you hate liers is already a gift of God to you. If you do hate them as you say,, you have to be quite a honost person. Or you are a hypocrate yourself.
The fact is God also hates lies and murder and adultery.. and all the bad things... Do you know why? All these things hurt people! That is why. God loves and God loves people who love... There is no sin in love and no love in sin. Sin ALWAYS hurts somebody.
I do not say you should stop sinning, I say love enough not to hurt any person... You do not have to believe in any God, to be a considerate person, but you will only be a holy person, when god makes you so. There is only ONE LEVEL of holiness, and that is God's Holiness.
I look at Jesus and I see the person that god wants me to be. As holy, as loving and as powerful in Word and action. You say you loved mother Theresa, I did not like her much. Do not ask why, I have my reasons. My human man I like to qoute is Paul, but then Paul did not teach what HE WANTED, he taught what God wanted... Paul was only the vessel, God was the inside! The CARGO in the vessel was God and His message....

Perhaps you should stop reading your bible 24/7 and learn to read people. If you cannot do that my friend you have lost before you even start. How can you expect to sell if you do not know your market?
To try to make something of me? please do not worry I am a law unto myself.

Do I wish to discuss the contradictions in the bible I threw that out years ago I talk from memory of what was shoved down my throat by people who could not even give a damn if I lived or died.
So trust me I have no wish to discuss the bible that much in depth. But if you insist I will have no trouble in rising to the occasion.
One of the reasons I come in I am hoping maybe to find some thinking people, those who can think and work things out for themselves you know ordinary people maybe you may have read about these kind. Those that can take it as well as just give it out in copy and paste. People who have seen the real Gods world full of cruelty and inhuman treatment.
Maybe you do I do not know you either, your someone behind a computer screen. But do you ever go out in the city where you live talk to some of the people sleeping in parks no food not even know where their next meal is coming from.

In the old days the poor the helpless the ones who were crippled were thrown into mental hospitals. Or worse still homes run by the church. Tell me have you ever seen one of those.
Women and children were separated from their husbands and fathers. While the children were in school the women were made to walk the street till a certain time in the evening. These places were half for women and children the other half for the mentally ill.
Children going to school in the snow clad in rags. Then we read in the bible how God loves his children.
Here is one from the bible " The Lords my Shepherd I'll not want" 23rd psalm I believe. tell that one to the poor.
Here is another one. "God so loved the world he gave his only son" he took him straight back he is not here is he?
So where is he. Please do not say " He gave his son to die on the cross" bottom line he took him back.
Another one: The bible does not believe in re-incarnation. So why are we to blame for his death we were not there he did not die for me. You cannot have it both ways we were either there or we were not.
Another one: We are paying for the sins of our fathers. Why? we are not responsible for what our fathers did. JUSTICE?
But then why believe me you have your bible with Jesus holding little children. And big signs saying suffer little children to come unto me. We will not even touch on that one will we.
I take it your from the States Please could you explain to me I would love to know and I am sure every thinking Christian would too. Why in some parts of the States People not white were not allowed in the same church as the white man. Or were there two different Gods one black and one white?
Why were these people made slaves. I know they were transported to the States by the Dutch but why was it allowed.
Was this the Christian thing to do. I could never treat another human in that way and I am the heathen here.

But I will tell you this I would love to see religion held accountable for what it has done to the world and one day maybe not in my life time I think it will. People are starting to turn.

I am afraid I should not use the word hate I do not like it. But I give you my word I cannot handle a liar.
Liars are thieves they take away the right of a person to make a fair and right decision by lying to them.
You cannot fight a liar people will believe a lie before the truth.
They hurt a persons soul actually a liar can murder a persons soul depending on the lie that has been told.
