I make a simple statement about being careful not to put Christian words on worldly music. There is nothing in that statement that should offend a real Christian.

Let Christian music be played on the radio and let congregational hymn singing be done in the assembly of believers. Most Christian songs are hard to sing in a congregational setting. It ends up being a concert, imo.

Quite a few years back Satan came up with the plan to get people involved with the world, the flesh, and the Devil through music, in my younger days it was rock and roll(later they dropped the roll), at first it was just love songs but in a remarkably short time it became lewd and has mostly been that way ever since. Some folks really get into this kind of music, it is like a drug to them. In time it crept into the church under the guise that it would help bring in young folks. The problem is that worldly music appeals to the flesh nature, and the flesh and spirit are in opposition in the Christian. Trying to entertain the flesh nature while ministering to the spirit is totally ridiculous...the flesh and spirit are opposed to one another in the Christian.

Question: What do you look for in a good worship song? Biblical doctrinal truth or a good beat with emotional words?
Are they mutually exclusive? Why not aim high and obtain both?

I think these guys have done a great job with re-wording rock songs.

They have about 400 songs done this way. Click the You Tube logo to see more.

God does not copy the world, to be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God.

I guess you didn't know that some of the hymns you sing borrowed their melodies from barroom songs.

Before anyone goes nuts over this, it is an old joke that's been around for centuries. Although some hymnial melodies come from secular songs, the barroom thing has never been proven.

It is written, "Make a joyful noise to the Lord." Any music in reverence to God is quite fine.......even styles I just do not like. So I cannot use my dislike to prevent anyone from making joyful noise in any form......God ahead and I will join you, praising the Lord, amen.

Since you think music entertains the flesh than The same can be said about heat pumps, natural gas furnaces, waterheaters, cars, computers, electricity,,, you have no problem supporting these cushy things in life rather you think it's good or bad I doubt you will be moving to a cave anytime soon or attending a church set up in the woods, yet updated styles of music is worldly really?? Ok...

I have one of those questions that needs to be asked. If you do not like "high" church music here and now how will you feel in heaven? Do you really think that any of our modern music will be in heaven?

We will probably all be singing in Hebrew to our Eternal God.

For the cause of Christ

When you think about it, not a bit of what anyone living today considers to be "real Christian music" was ever heard by the people in Biblical times. So, it would stand to reason that whatever music exists for us after death will be relevant to each of us in our own esoteric appreciation.

I like most all music rather the high church type, or other types of styles, the key to understanding all this is to not place our own dislikes in other styles and place some kind of statement that implys "my style I like is the only true Christian music" out there. That's not logical at all, seems quite selfish IMO... you said the magic word (probably), could be just hymns or could be a lot of different styles. Your may rather have Hebrew hymns in Heaven yet another person maybe its rock n roll Christian style....

I see music like technology, lets say that mankind mostly still burned wood for heating and cooking, as the population grows so does the demand for wood, if technologies didn't improve than the whole earth would look like Easter island no trees barely any land animals and probably a extinct human race as well. Not saying technology can't be use for evil purposes like lust greed etc.. A lot can be use in the wrong ways, a simple rock can be used to kill another or a build shelter for another.

Hi BeyondET: In order to have meaningful dialog it is needful that we operate in integrity and not deceit. Your first statement was taken out of context and you know it, I did not say that music entertains the flesh, I said that WORDLY music appeals to the flesh nature(and it does). Also, your assertion that technology is the biblical world system, is ridiculous. Technology can be used for the glory of God(spreading the gospel) or to promote evil( ungodly entertainment). I have no problem with contemporary Christian music, however much of what is called Christian music today is simply worldly music with Christian words placed on it. There is this crazy idea out there that all music is neutral and it just depends on what words we chose to put with that music. This is just an attempt to satisfy the flesh without condemnation because it had Christian words with it.

you said it, trying to entertain the flesh, what ever dude that's deceitful by implying that, if that is not what you meant, let's not get so twisted shall we. That crap is bogus and you know it. Your against rock because you don't like it, that's ok by me no problem but don't throw down other people's styles they like just because you don't like it.
