i wouldn't have stoned him, I would have asked God why and if He punished me for questioning Him I would have taken it, because I believe that God is a just and loving God and the Bible says we are His children. Who would punish their kids for asking a simple question out of compassion for the man?
So if you lived back then would you have stopped all those people from killing for GOD? What would you have done to protect those lives from being ended by humans in the name of GOD? If you really believed in GOD why would you question GOD? If you trust that GOD is all knowing, why question? Should we be upset that the Israeli's killed the Hittites, and the Girga****es, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites without showing mercy to them? When should we kill for GOD? Always? Never? Or only when we feel it is right in our hearts?

Deuteronomy 7

7:1 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girga****es, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
7:2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:

One has put it this way: The root of all schwarmerei/excessive enthusiasm is to confuse one's own thoughts with God's thoughts. Sobriety is urgently needed as it can become downright dangerous..

So with the new convenant we don't have to kill for GOD anymore? So I should tell my friend that only people back then should kill for GOD and now in the present time if GOD told you to kill someone you shouldn't?
Kill and murder are two different things, when you are in a war, you kill others, when you are defending yourself from an attacker that is killing not murder, In the fox's book of martyrs a group of Christians had to fight back and many Catholics had to die and that was not murder. Capital punishment is not murder.

God doesn't tell people to murder others.

Your just arguing semantics. Let me rephrase my question then. If GOD instructed you to kill someone else, would you do it?

Nope and Id be heading to the doctors to get some anti-psychotics if he did :)
there you go out the mouths of 14 year olds.

IF God wanted them DEAD then He could strike them down, get your friend some help.

does he have a grudge against these people? has he practiced witchcraft or sorcery? Is he Christian? Does he go to church?

you should talk to the pastor if he is Christain and goes to church.

Be careful people who talk about killing others might turn and try and hurt you. I meet a guy who bought a knife every time he made a new "friend" just in case he had to kill them. He also told me he was half demon sometimes...

Personally I lost contact with that person quickly after finding that out.

you shouldn't care if others would or wouldn't but what GOD tells you about it. Read the BIBLE. It tells you that there is a new covenant and we are to bless those who curse us and give freely to all as God does.

not on the order of shifting an entire sea at a command or opening the earth up on command, no I haven't seen that lately.
So since you have not seen that lately, then you would not be inclined to do GODs will since you are unconvinced of his existence due to lack of blatant miracles?

GOD wanted the man collecting sticks dead. GOD did not strike that man down, GOD instructed his followers to kill for GOD. My friend thinks that he is a loyal follower who goes to church with me every Sunday. If you lived back then you would kill for GOD, but not today?

Coaster this is a logical fallacy: hypothesis contrary to fact. However, the bible tells us that God cannot lie and God cannot sin. Therefore God would never command a person to murder someone. The conclusion is inevitable.

We must be very suspicious when it comes to such blatantly dubious claims. Love your God with all your mind it says.

Are you insinuating that he is crazy? Would you have thought that Abraham was crazy if you lived back then with him?
I likely would have thought Abraham was more than crazy, risking so much not ever having a son again, how many 90 something year old women have children?

No, you shouldn't let him do it. If he starts planning it, call the police. If the thoughts persist, he needs to see a doctor or psychiatrist.

Jesus' message is to love your neighbour, not kill them.

If I told you and a million other people earth shaking things and every single one of them came true, and then I said "don't pick up sticks or you will get stoned" who in there right mind would pick up sticks?

So lets say your 90 year old wife bears you a son. Then a voice in your head tells you to kill your son. Do you do it?

What is more trustworthy? My sense perception or the Word of God?

GOD tells us not to do things even in the present day. The majority of humans disobey GOD on a daily basis. If GOD told you to kill them, would you do it?

GOD obviously. That's why I'm asking if the word of GOD was to kill somebody, why would you disobey?

Hearing God's voice is not allways cut and dry, if it were it would be much more easier but it wouldn't be based on faith. we hear what we hear and few listen thus not everything God tells us we do. some listen more some listen less.
