Light can only travel so far then it will have an ending point, and then darkness.

And we know it is not always day, and it is not always night, and we do not see the sun during the night time.

So there would have to be a dividing point between the light and the dark.

Since the sun would always be above the earth, and always at the same distance above the earth, then the light would chase the darkness, and the darkness would chase the light, for it is the only way it can be, because there has to be a dividing point between the light and the dark.

For it is not always light, and it is not always dark, and the sun is always the same distance above the earth no matter where it is at over the earth.

The only thing that makes sense on a flat earth where there is a dividing point between light and dark, and the light will chase the darkness, and the darkness will chase the light because of that dividing point.

Is that when it is dark in our area, and it approaches morning we would see the light coming our way, but it would still be dark in our area, and then the light would pass through our area, and then we would see the darkness going away from us until it disappears, and all we see is light.

And when it is light in our area, and it approaches night we would see the darkness coming our way, but it is still light in our area, and then the darkness would pass through our area, and we would see the light going away from us until it disappears, and all we see is darkness.

But we do not observe it this way going from light to dark, and dark to light.

The way we observe it only makes sense on a round earth.

For when it is dark in our area, and it approaches morning when the sun comes up over the horizon boom, then it is light, and when it is light in our area, and it approaches night when the sun goes down over the horizon boom, then it is dark.

We do not observe the light chasing the dark, and the dark chasing the light, which we would observe on a flat earth, for there can be no other way, for the sun is the same distance over the earth at all areas, and does not go up or down.
Um... where are you getting your information?

Light keeps going until it is blocked by matter or otherwise modified.

I ran across a question that no flat-earther can answer: but it doesn't really belong here - I started a thread in the conspiracy section.

The shape of the world has no religious importance, but I've been thinking about it for a long time, that if there is an edge of the world I would love to see it. I know the Bible says there are four corners to the earth, that it is like a circle (or round?), that the skies are stretched and the world is suspended over nothing and laid on a secure immovable foundation. It also says that God is looking from above and we look like tiny grasshoppers to him! :giggle:

I'm sure the Bible is correct, but do all these verses really mean it should be flat or disc shaped? I want to hear what you think, hopefully I can learn from you something new. (y)
Well no four corners basically just means north, south east and west. Its not corners like a square, its just the directions. Also it doesnt mean its flat! Lol

Even reading the Bible how can you say the earth is flat when the flood came, the fountains of the DEEP were broken up, and the ark rested upon the mountains of ararat. You cant have mountains and deep if the earth is flat. Also if it was really flat you cant have valleys either. And theres lots of mentions of valleys and mountins and how important they are in the Bible.

Do you live in Kansas? Or do you just not get out much?

Job 26:7: "He stretches out the north over the empty place, and hangs the earth upon nothing."

Isaiah 40:22: "It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth."

The Bible declares that the earth is cilcular in shape.. It also declares that the world sits on nothing and is hung on nothing..

Note in times past in some cultures the North was considered the bottom of the world and the south was considered the top..

Actually it’s beside the earth, it does appear to be above but it’s not.

Flat Earth refers to the general shape of the world. Is it a sphere or more like a map? It is said that with all of the world's mountains and valleys it is still smoother than a marble because it is so big. I'm not saying the earth is flat, but I also don't want to base my understanding of the world on science more than the accurate truth of the scriptures. "Is there no God in Israel that you're going to consult a foreign god?" says 2 Kings 1:3... First I should see what is written and then from there learn what scientists have to say...

What youve never seen a globe of the world? Or been in an aeroplane? What can I say..have fun finding out.

Btw how old are you? The Bible nowhere says the world is flat. As several people have mentioned, the Bible declares the earth is round sphere. Does the moon look like a map? Do you understand what a celestial body is. Even our bodies , are they flat, like flat stanley?

Maps are only flat because they have to fit on a piece of paper. And whoever you are quoting from is not from the Bible. Even so, do you not play with round marbles? Or are you losing yours... seriously!

Besides, you can always just ask God right now. What does He say?

True. But it would be nice if the earth were flat. All the obnoxious ones could be sent over the edge to float in space.

What do you mean? The earth is not flat?
Are you part of the conspiracy of round earth believers?

I have been right round the world, so I know there is no edge.
I know people who have been to the top and bottom of the world, and again not edge.

Even better you can track flights from Chile to south Africa which demonstrate the
earth is round.

The bible talks about pillars and corners, which the world does have, but that neither means
it is round or flat. It shocked me that there are believers who hold the world is flat, which
suggests to me they need some medical intervention, unless they are just deluded and not
a threat to others. God bless you

5 He moves mountains without their knowing it and overturns them in his anger.
6 He shakes the earth from its place and makes its pillars tremble.
Job 9

8 He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight.
9 He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it.
10 He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness.
11 The pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at his rebuke.
Job 26

Darkness in the physical sense is nothing more than the absence of light. Darkness doesn't chase anything because it has no substance and no energy. Light doesn't "chase" darkness; it dispels darkness.

I'm sure that if it was even possible for the earth to be flat, that many a ships, especially military and cruise ships, would have fallen over the edge by now.
