A seer is anyone who can tell the future...not necessarily a prophet from God. There was a demonically possessed woman who made her master lots of money from fortune telling.

There are also false prophets in the Bible who give people false security while they abuse and beat upon the poor and helpless, while they allow injustice to happen and side with the rich corrupt people instead of the widows and orphans.

However if you speak of Oracles of God, then we are all called to speak in such manner because the, prophets all spoke of salvation through Christ..that was what was entrusted to the Jewish people.

The spiritual gift of prophecy? Is to be able to pray and hear and see the vision God has for a specific group of people for a specific time and place.
This is so skewed.

Under this template only Jews can be disciples.

Seers see things. That is why they are called that.

Doesn't mean they don't hear things.

Prophets see and hear things.

Those are two doors leading to the same room.

In rev John saw and described.
He was told things to write down.

"I saw,I looked,I beheld,see" John was a prophet seer.

One and the same

I speak in tongues myself...and interpret often enough...so what are you talking about?
I doubt you are walking correctly if the way you responded to my post is an indication of your comprehension
...
we should never ever put any gift above the ONE who gives them

this topic is sure to stir up controversy

there are so many self proclaimed prophet types galloping around these days ... and this forum has had a good number that have all been eventually banned
...
and frankly, yes, God help us indeed, for listening to false prophets and self proclaimed prophets
...
I'm not sure why you would write God help us...if someone studies the topic, and takes a look at what way too many people think a prophet is, it becomes clear that it's a major source of error

I knew that full well even responding in this thread
God help us -- with each breath, we breathe...with each word, we utter...with each step we take...

God help us to be unified and mature (Eph 4).

To say the prophetic has ceased is insane.

Butchery of Gods power and truth.

God has stopped speaking?

No one can see ,or be shown what is about to happen, but devils can?

Ridiculous end times deception and lies

God help us to be unified and mature (Eph 4).
God's been calling you on that one too? My reactions:
1. Whew! I might not be alone in trying to walk this new way.
2. I may have been walking wrong before, but at least I didn't feel like every single step was so hard to figure out. It feels like learning the proper way to type after learning my finger-pickin' way and using it for years. Worse yet, I gave up on the proper way because it was so hard. God has taken us BIG TIME for this one.

So, nice to know I am no longer alone. Welcome to the Hard!-Ain't-it club. I hope I'm the old lady huffing and puffing behind you on this one, because I don't see the path clearly most of the time so could use an extra guide.

(Oh, and feel free to ignore this, all of those strictly here to show off your great knowledge of what a Prophet is. Nothing to see here, but two folks chuckling over what God is getting us to do now.)

well, then know that this topic is one of the most controversial

which means, there will be disagreement

some folks think disagreement is anti-gospel...it's not...the gospels state otherwise as well as the epistles

God's been calling you on that one too? My reactions:
1. Whew! I might not be alone in trying to walk this new way.
it's really not a new way

now it may be to folks who previously argued with everyone

disagreeing is not anti-Bible...calling names is...no one is doing that in this thread

sad

that's not really a very helpful contribution

hmmmm

those are rather harsh words

God speaks every day in His Word and by His Spirit

to be concerned about what is false is to follow scripture....the NT has many warnings about seducing spirits and Jesus Himself warned about deception

what is missing is balance

1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

The problems start when scriptures such as this one and many others are either ignored, glossed over or when people who know this is what scripture states, try to bring attention to it and then they are promptly mocked or misunderstood

If someone here thinks myself or others are trying to show off? I would suggest you examine your own reason for stating that.

i recall those scriptures saying how the prophets of old were called seers and also how the scriptures said how the people went to see the seer but aside from those I have not found hardly any other scriptures about the seer. if a seer is another word for prophet then why did they change it from seer to prophet and why is seer so rare to find even in the bible?
Good questions. I don't know. Am interested to eventually see what you conclude.
