Throughout the entire bible there are examples of God's people and his enemies that have used wine (alcohol) and as result of the alcohol they were punished for their actions.

Genesis 9:20-27 - Ham is cursed because he looked upon his father Noah who was asleep and naked from being drunk.
Genesis 19:32 - Lot's daughters get him drunk and have sex with him. They offspring were the Moabites and Ammonites, enemies of God's children.
Leviticus 10:1-2, 9-10 - Nadab and Abihu got drunk and did not follow God's command and as a result were destroyed by God.
Daniel 5:3-4 - Belshazzar used the vessels from God's temple to drink wine and praise false gods.
In Revelation 14:8, 17:2 - false teaching, the false church is called wine.

Alcohol is of the world and like everything good that God has created, the devil has also corrupted the subject of wine and grapejuice. God said marriage is between a man and a woman, the devil said same sex marriage is ok; God said the sabbath is the seventh day, the devil said it is the first day; God said new wine (grapejuice), the devil said old wine (alcohol). The devil knows the word better than we do and he is trying to corrupt it. He is mixing lies with truth. As christians we should follow the example of Christ. Don't fall for satan's lies.

Matthew 26:29 - But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
So are you saying the scriptures in the OP are not inspired and are of the devil?

The Greek word for wine is oinos for both fermented and unfermented wine. As far as containers being broken, it is talking about the condition of the container which is old that is why it broke. The men made fun of the apostles saying new wine because they knew that the apostles only drank new wine, grapejuice. I am not here to argue the word, no need to. As christians we are not to live like people of the world. God tells us not to be partakers with the people of the world, Ephesians 5:7.

This topic is a perfect example of how much people will pervert scripture to meet their viewpoint.

There are several specific points made when Jesus turned the water into wine.

1. It was a festive occassion. The only reason for imbibing was the buzz.

2. They thought the best wine had been saved 'til last. Why? Because the best wine was habitually served first because after a few drinks the taste didn't matter.

3. It was a big wedding. Christ made a lot of wine.

4. Not only did Christ not condemn them for drinking an intoxicating beverage purely for recreational purposes, He enabled them to drink by making the wine.
I totally agree and have caught flak from just posting 5 or 6 scriptures in context as you have seen and they are rejected and God/Jesus is called liars and or the word of God in those particular verses are not inspired....one person in ignorance called Jesus a hypocrite for the things he said in context...gonna be smoking hot one day for all who say the word of God is a lie!

It is appears that you are oblivious to context as Grape Juice will not...

1. Make the heart merry
2. Lift a saddened heart combined with laugher
3. Have the medicinal properties that have been proven when applied to red wine
4. Make one drunk...

The command it to not be drunk in excess, but the OP listed the acceptable boundaries as applied by God's word....if you don't want to drink a glass of wine then don't and that is acceptable unto God just as it is acceptable unto God if I want to drink a glass of wine to help high blood pressure and or make the heart (MERRY)
The medicinal properties of red wine is in the grape juice not the alcohol of red wine. Do some research.

We do not need to drink alcohol to be merry. Not all alcholol has the same content. Some have more alcohol content than others so how do you measure what is ok and what is not?

How did you come to that conclusion? I am saying that for every truth of God, satan has a counterfeit.

Doesn't matter what percentage as long as you do not get drunk...be not drunk...in EXCESS...it seems the OP give us good boundaries and acceptable biblical parameters!

That's a lie. That is precisely why you are responding to posts on this thread. The bible is quite clear and you are doing your best to pervert the word. Post 100 says all that needs to be said.

Wow, that is your reasoning, it was for recreation? You mean like today in our time, at ball games, parties, clubs, bars and how many arrest for DWIs, accidents, rapes, due to alcohol? I notice that all you christians that are in favor of drinking alcohol have ignored the fact that the word wine in the greek is the same for unfermented and fermented grapejuice. So just don't entertain the fact that Jesus made grapejuice because if you realize the truth you may have to give your alcohol.

We are not the one who is rejecting the truth as given, and we are not advocating getting drunk and doing the things that you have listed... go study fruit of the vine, wine and string drink and see if they are the same words in the original languages as they are even translated differently! Grow Up and put some skin on and quite arguing a mute point....read OP again slowly and pay attention to key words!

Ofcourse you are advocating getting drunk. Who are you to know the amount of alcohol a person can drink before they get drunk? You ever stop to think why alcohol is also called spirits. Well it is not because of the Holy Spirit. Christians are followers of Christ...follow Christ.

I do follow Jesus as it is you who rejects the simple word of truth as found in the OP...A heretic reject after the first of second admonition...heretic----->opinionated one and it seems you fit the bill!

I just understand what the scripture says and I am trying to help you understand. We are brothers in more ways than you know. The name calling does not bother me, I understand that we all don't have the same amount of light. I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost and I am seeking knowledge from His Word through the power of the Holy Spirit so if that makes me a heretic so be it.

Proverbs 20:1 KJV
(1) Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
1 Timothy 5:23 KJV
(23) Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

Would Paul give advice that goes against scripture?

Isaiah 65:8 KJV
(8) Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

Paul would not have taught anything against scripture. According to these texts new wine is OK, fermented wine is not.

Matthew 5:17 KJV

(17) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Would Jesus have contradicted Himself and gone against His own teaching by making alcohol? To be true to scripture then the Bible teaches against drinking alcohol. The Bible is interpreted by the Bible not our opinion.

Scripture seems to indicate that our Lord Jesus drank alcohol quite frequently.....thus, I see no reason to not do the same...

So you think they have pubs and clubs in heaven and they sit around drinking alcohol? There was no alcohol when God created the earth it was all fresh.

Some people can get intoxicated on one glass. An alcoholic cant have any, if they have even one they wont be able to stop. Alcohol does nothing good.

Respond to post 100 and point out the error, since you say there is one. Nowhere does it say Jesus made grapejuice. Those are your words and they aren't in the bible.

I just understand what the scripture says..................
No you don't. Dcon and I have both quoted bible verses to you and you twist and/or reject them.

Scripture seems to indicate that our Lord Jesus drank alcohol quite frequently.....thus, I see no reason to not do the same...
That is as big a lie as I have read here.

That is as big a lie as I have read here.

For John the Baptist has come neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon. The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, Behold, a man, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. (Luke 7.33 – 34)

The above passage declares quite plainly that John the Baptist abstained from drinking alcohol, while Jesus drank alcohol frequently.
