There's nothing to thank God less about in what were discussing about the adoption. After we believe we are blessed with all spiritual blessings inheavenly places in Christ Jesus. We sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. Nothing can separate us . We cannot separate ourselves from God . And we are predestined to the redemption of the body , Glorification/ Adoption. There is no bad news here . We cry Abba father because of our new birth .

PS. as to the last paragraph, it is not what we affirm. We do not say God saves us against our will. Not even Calvinists say that.
I didn’t say you or anyone else said that , I’m saying if God knows ahead of time it doesn’t mean he’s causing it , and it doesn’t change what anything else in the Bible says .

my point is what difference does it make if God knew ahead of time , who will believe and be saved ?

I’m actually asking you what the difference would be if God knew ahead of time ? Does it change what he said when he came ?

You have to keep jumping to other scriptures because you can't explain Ephesians 1:4-5

You can't explain it, because you can't accept what it says.

SO you ignore it.

What is the direct object of the clause "God chose us" in Ephesians 1:4?

It shouldn't be hard. You only have three words to choose from
I accept what it says . Without all the theological baggage piled on top of it . The reason that happens is because of trying to have ' proof texts ' to fit the system/ paradigm.

It’s like many things

we are adopted, we will be adopted

we are sanctified we are being sanctified we will be samctified

we are redeemed, we await the redemption...

c
In the sense of ' Adoption ' , we recieve the Spirit of Adoption. This is the Gurantee until the purchased possession. its the Guarantee , but its not THE adoption . We ARE set apart . We ARE Justified . This is a bit silly , because we literally have a verse telling us when THE ADOPTION is . Rom 8.23 , Just before we have a verse telling us when we are Conformed to His image. This is the same in Eph 1,4-5

What else do you call the redemption of the body . The bible calls this ' The Adoption ' . So the Apodtion IS the redemption of the body . This is what the bible calls it .
It's also called the manifestation of the children of God. In other words, it is not the adoption en toto as if there is no other aspect of adoption besides this. It is the revealing and unveiling of those who have been adopted. You could also say PUBLIC DECLARATION and DEMONSTRATION. Now Jesus of course was not adopted, He was the unique Son. He was the Son, being Coeternal and Coequal with the Father from all eternity. But there was also a PUBLIC DECLARATION and DEMONSTRATION of that. The Son of God who had always existed with the Father was DECLARED to be the Son of God by the resurrection from the dead. Romans 1:4. There will also be a resurrection from the dead where we will also be publicly declared to be His.

Whats wrong with the simple reading that Rom 8.23 gives. You surely agree that we become ' sons ' through the new birth ?

Forknown, predestined, called, justified, glorified...clear order here.

Why do you put justification BEFORE predestination? Paul doesn't. I say this because you say one is not predestined until they are saved. But that would mean that one is not predestined until they are justified, in direct opposition to Paul's words.
The believer is predestinated and justified at the same time. Both come immediately after trusting in Christ. The verse does not say, and then this occurs, then this, then this...

Not according to Ephesians 1:4-5. That passage says we God chose us before the foundation of the world, HAVING predestinated us to adoption as sons. The two are connected and both occurred before the foundation of the world. No denying it.

Any one who had no exposure to theology would ever read Ephesians 1 the way the calvinstic reader does .
I had this understanding of Ephesians 1:4 when I knew nothing about Calvinism. The first time I read it. When I didn't know what Calvinism and Arminianism was.

What is the direct object of the clause "God chose us" in Ephesians 1:4

Galatians 4:5-7. Paul, while speaking in context of adoption, said they were already sons. You can't say that He's referring to the New birth to the exclusion of adoption, because he's talking specifically about adoption.

He said ' body ' . Are you able to walk through walls like Jesus ?
You still don't understand the "already, not yet" aspects of many of God's works.

The kingdom of God is already here, yet it is also coming.

We are already sanctified, but we are being sanctified.

we already have eternal life, but our body is still unredeemed.

We are already redeemed, but our body is not yet redeemed.
