Hi again DP,
I didn't express myself very well in the previous post. To put it plainly, I feel it's an arbitrary distinction. Religion is just a word, unnecessarily stigmatized. I suppose what I actually don't understand is the offense that people take to it.
How the world defines the word religion:
Here's how Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines it (further below). In the simplest definition, it's simply about belief in God, or in gods. Or it can be a system of organized beliefs, ceremonial practice, or rules of worship of God, or of gods.
There is only One True GOD, but peoples have believed on many gods throughout history. Some believe that all the different religions of the world are only different 'paths'... to the same GOD.
But Christianity declares there is only One Way of Salvation, not many paths, and that One Way is only through believing on the Blood of Jesus Christ, Immanuel (God with us), sacrificed upon His cross. And that is unique ONLY to Christianity.
Thus there cannot be many truths in that, but only One Truth. Fake gods of wood, metal, and stone cannot save. Only The One GOD can save, and Jesus Christ (God with us Who came in the flesh to die on the cross) is The Savior.
When we look at that unique act our Lord Jesus did for us upon His cross, it represents The Truth, not simply religion which is initiated by us based on our belief(s). Man can play religion all his life, but without believing on Christ's Sacrifice on the cross as The Truth, then they are only practicing religion, and have yet to come to the only Truth that can save us, The Blood of Jesus Christ.
