Truth be told there is no great theological conviction behind the Judges choice. I love the poetic portions. The Song of Deborah is probably one of the most beautifully written parts of the Bible and it's so overlooked.
Don't you think it SHOULD be overlooked?

Don't you realize Deborah was a woman?

A woman?

Someone put a woman, right in the bible, just right in there, and then let her say stuff?

Where's it going to end?

Soon women will be expecting to vote in elections.

Now you make me wish the Bible had Ben Linus in it. :(

;)

Exactly! It's sort of like LOST (the TV series) when it featured flashbacks. The main story is there but incomplete (the gospels) and the flashbacks (the epistles) fill in all of the details and round out the characters. Holy Spirit was ahead of the times! Haha!

Some people here have this notion that Jesus first appeared to a woman after the resurrection.

Preposterous, I say! Preposterous!

What's next? Talking donkeys? Seas parting? Lions fraternizing with potential prey?

Well yes, Jesus first appeared to a woman.

But it's only because all the men were busy doing men stuff!

It almost reads like the Book of Mormon :p
I haven't read it, but the small sampling I've perused has nothing on Bel and the Dragon (which is still more plausible). ;)

C'mon! If you were Jesus, wouldn't set aside some time in Acapulco?

Don't forget about preaching naked and cooking our food over crap while we lay on the ground for over a year. Oh, man. Those prophets... One of the hardest jobs in the Bible.

book of kings, Solomon's temple dedication and blessing of the assembly is a very awe inspiring prayer. and the stories of Elijah are awesome, calling down fire, remote viewing and his bones even brought life back to the dead.

Retrieving sunken Axe heads. Curing diseases. Rebuilding cities. It's a hard knock life, truly.

I view the Old Testament as more story oriented and a more interesting read while the New Testament is more used for teaching and self reflection.

Yeah! Burning tents. Selling cloaks to purchase swords. Jumping into furnaces. Rods. Snakes. Chariots of fire.

A lot of fire.

Well yes, Jesus first appeared to a woman.

But it's only because all the men were busy doing men stuff!

Well, you figure too it covers a way wider swath of time and many, many, many more people. There's bound to be more story-telling material.

Hmm, I never thought of it this way before. The magic of CC.
