I agree that by firstfruits refered to them being early converts, but I think that in someway it applies to all of us. The firstfruits were taken into the Temple and there enjoyed with gladness before the Lord. Paul is expressing his joy in them, joy that is as worship to God. We are practically somebodies firstfruits, a living sacrifice offered to the Lord, the fruit of faithful labor in the field. And perhaps we are the firstfruits of Jesus' labor, in timeless heaven does not the great harvest of the beginning of the gospel bump elbows with the harvest of the end of grace.

He was clearly raised on A Sunday.

Maybe the firstfuits are all those that were ressurrected when Christ was.
I believe that the first fruits are all those who are resurrected and those who are caught up with them when the Lord comes to receive His bride. In other words, His bride, the body of Christ, entire.

It would be horrible arrogance to believe that this will be the only resurrection, and that we are the only ones who will receive the redemption of the flesh, and that God does not have a plan for the rest of the age. We are so blessed with His love, because we are so ignorant of His righteousness, and His great love and mercy towards us in Jesus Christ has saved us from destruction. Yet, there are many who know of His righteousness, but who do not know of His love and mercy. I believe that they will learn of these things also. Not all, but some.

Paul wrote about how we, who are not of the chosen nation have righteousness by faith, what of those who are of the chosen nation? Will they not be able to find true righteousness? But the Lord has promised, of Israel, He will save a remnant.

I think that it may well be us, consider this verse:

Jas 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

but then these verses say otherwise:

Rev 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
Rev 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

so I think there are different kinds of "firstfruits" as these verses suggest

I am going to start I new poll, if I knew how to start one that is, the question on the poll would be
" how many of you Bible scholars ever read the OLD TESTAMENT" I am shaking my head in unbelief at the responses to this thread. and applauding Definition_ Christ, for knowing that there was a Holy day, called first fruits. but some what against that He didn't explain what the holiday was based on and that he left off the key words the first fruits of our labor. Wootie was probably the closest to the meaning of first fruits, and Snail it is first fruitsss, not the first fruit( mentioned in the Bible). that was unreal. The first fruits of our labor, is a type of offering/tithe to the Lord. in the Old Testament there was not alot of Food Lions, Lowes Foods, or wal-marts where one could go and buy food at. so you grew your own food. it was commanded by Law to give the first Fruits ( which was considered the best fruit) was to be brought to the temple as a sacrifice/offering, just as if one had livestock(sheep, goats) they were to bring the best, unspotted unblemished sheep or goats as a sacrifice unto to Lord. this is where the tithing preachers tell you to take your tithe out of your check/pay before you spend for anything else.(first fruits of your labor)

Ex 22:29Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me

Ex 23:19The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

the works of Christ was the spiritual first fruits of man and we are that first fruits , well we are suppose to be anyhow.
