oh really?
you'll be boasting then won't you, with your so great obedience that saved you.
your 'faith-obedience' (whatever that is) that you claim is your doing.

4102 pístis (from 3982/peithô, "persuade, be persuaded") – properly, persuasion (be persuaded, come to trust); faith.

Faith (4102/pistis) is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people. In short, 4102/pistis ("faith") for the believer is "God's divine persuasion" – and therefore distinct from human belief (confidence), yet involving it. The Lord continuously births faith in the yielded believer so they can know what He prefers, i.e. the persuasion of His will (1 Jn 5:4).

[4102 (pistis) in secular antiquity referred to a guarantee (warranty). In Scripture, faith is God's warranty, certifying that the revelation He inbirthed will come to pass (His way).

oh how proud you must be that you chose the LORD in your faith-obedience.

why do you start a thread on a critical passge, one which speaks to the very heart of the Gospel and ALL God's WORK on our behalf, then overturn what it says?

1As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful naturea and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. 4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Only because in the beginning there was only God. And God was the only good. And the only good in man comes from God.

That is not to say that man cannot do good or procure good.

Being saved is not a destination or a set of rules and circumstance, it is a way of life.

'For he that says but does not do, is a sayer, not a doer'.

We may have our works 'through faith', but only because we comprehend the great love God and Jesus have, and wish to emulate it to please them and help others.

Jesus very nature was one of self sacrifice for the good of mankind. His works WERE his spirit. His thoughts WERE His spirit. His motive WAS His spirit.

Faith without works is dead.

I don't get what is so hard to understand, I didn't do this thread because I needed anyone's teaching. I understand the Lord's salvation so secure in my life it is like the blood and water inside me that makes my spirit whole, His Spirit in me.

Anyway, ceeallen, anyone else wanting to keep saying 'good' this, 'good' that, about God's 'this,' and, God's 'that,' know this.....

...God gave us all the SAME grace, yes, we are not worthy, duh, WHY did He die on the cross!!! :)

Anyway, it is sooo simple, yet sooo many like to make a big ado over zip. We are to have a personal relationship with God, and, His Spirit is who Jesus gave us who is God who is the Holy Spirit.

What is so hard to 'get' of this??

IT is beautiful , YOUR Love story should be imbedded in wanting to more and more as you live be unsettled with doing worldly things and more so with the settling of spiritual things.

So simple, end of thread. Let's move on from thinking that God does not personally lead our lives, and, whatever makes you think my faith and obedience is earning my salvation. RE-READ what I said, from the top, and, read every individual post, we are by grace SAVED through FAITH. IT is OUR faith that saves us. We don't just GET faith and that's it, we are SAVED no matter what. WHERE does scripture say that? No, God says we are to produce fruit or 'works,' as Eph. 2: 8,9,10.

This faith building is quintessential Paul says in Scripture, too, or, Paul wouldn't say, 'SOME WILL DEPART FROM THE FAITH' which is from 'false teachers and prophets.'

So, PLEASE, please puh-lllleeeeze understand, FAITH is a process of repentance, forgiveness, and, Love of others and self, and, of course, numero uno is Love to God :)

And, it's a one other 'process' deally too, ACCCEPTANCE. We are ALL with sin , we all do sin in our lives, ALL OUR LIVES, hey, we have FLESH, and, we are crucified with Christ so it is no longer we who lives but
Christ who lives in us. But, SATAN is real and he is really out there UNTIL God gives red-toned, horn face the boot after the rapture. (Jesus coming again).

but 1 John 1:6 (and 8) is clear that we do not sin when we are Christ's born again servants. DO NOT SIN.

Why? We are covered by the blood, there is power, power, wonderworking power, in the precious blood of the lamb :) We do NOT sin !! By grace we are saved through faith, and, that (being saved) is NOT of ourselves, that no one should boast.

So, by whose faith are we saved? 'We''s faith, Scripture states, WE ARE SAVED BY WE's OWN faith, and, as I will beat a horse a second time, God wants us to grow our faith as we go on living for Him, having LEFT behind the things of yesterday and look forward to what Christ has in store for us ahead, or, what lies ahead as Phil. 3: 13 states.

THIS is what we are to do, IT is a fight, CHRIST PEEPS, to the DEATH !! And, Satan wants you dead-dead-DEAD, he wants you dead in hell, he will give you the kingdom, sate your appetite and if that don't work he will let you KNOW YOU CAN FLY , like Peter Pan but different.

You will hear him saying, 'YOu can flyl, You can fly, you can fly !!! '

But, you can't . You can't , you can't , you can't.

You can't eat the fruit, your eyes won't be opened with the knowledge of knowing LIFE like God. Oh, your eyes WILL be opened as you DENY God and take the 'fruit,' and, they will be opened to DEATH forevermore , in Hell. :(

Choose God, choose His grace, and, LIVE in it, faithfully obeying, realizing your divorce, adultery, lies, cheating, stealing is COVERED by the blood. He don't remember it, that is why it's CALLED GRACE !!

Jesus, on the cross, asked forgiveness of others as they mocked and ridiculed Him. This is God, This Jesus man on the cross is God!!!!

Think about it :)

I do not think it could have been said any more clearer than this, as to your stance in and towards faith. If anyone thinks you to be a servant of Satan still and I your imp, then that soul only accuses itself in its own condemnation. God bless you brother in your walk in the Spirit and may the LORD continue to lead you.

What I see here is some thinking about this verse to their own way of right thinking, but it's WRONG, Cee. God NEVER chooses to make one believe, that would, LOL, be make-believe, :D :All this heresy talk of man is depraved and can't choose to believe in Christ from their own free choosing will is in DIRECT disagreement with this Scripture that titles this thread. Being SAVED is not of ourselves, yet I think people get the subject wrongly interpreted, thinking 'that' refers to faith, which it does not refer.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and, THAT is not of yourselves.

'That' refers to 'saved,' NOT 'faith.' We are saved not of ourselves is a simple way to read into it. Christ saved us by our faith believing in Him. There, you see now, Christ peeps, the application of the words 'faith' and 'believing,' there is a reliance on believing of faith, which is what those 'saved' will faithfully choose to believe. :)

And, does everyone understand how one falls away (apostates) from faith in Christ?
Apostating requires you to, essentially, 'lose faith.' And, if you lose faith, you lose the love of Christ leading you, this kind of faith turning faithless is the saved seperating themselves (denying God) and choosing wordly leading over the Spirit leading, or, as 1 Cor. 15 states choosing worldly things over spiritual things as one LIVING in Christ will choose things the Spirit (God's Holy Spirit inside the 'saved') leads to do, church, seeing '7 Days in Utopia' over 'Saw 17.'

I'm not being hypocritical here, i've seen some of the Saw movies, mostly when I was a few years younger and seeing movi to be able to explain to kid i big brothered , of movie's demonic content and human mind depravity, it's rampant, albeit, creative, approach to kill or be killed which is what Satan wants us to do, not God, therefore this movie is NOT teaching you how to live like Jesus did on Earth. So, UNLESS the Lord is leading you to go see this kind of horror movie for some way of edifcation to explain the capabilities of the human mind in the face of death, by His Spirit in you saying something to you like: 'go,' I want you to see it so your teen kids in your jr. high class you teach all will see it and I want you to relate My 'good' thoughts of good vs evil,' .

So, yeah, the Lord leads, He will show/tell you IF 'Saw 17' should be picked to see over 'Courageous.' His leading you to that evil showing/telling movie MUST be distinct ! or else, you're not to choose 'flesh' over 'Spirit.'

Maybe, cee, we should do a study on Ephesians, what do you think?
The Lord leads, if so led, we will :)

Was Noah BOASTING?

Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Was Abraham BOASTING?

Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

Are these people BOASTING?

Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Faith is indeed the equivalent of obedience for it is through OBEDIENCE that the soul is purified.

1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

FAITH purifies the heart.

Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

The Word cleans.

Joh 15:3 Now ye areclean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

There is no boasting on obeying God, it is our duty.

Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Those who refuse to yield to God will perish because they will not be cleansed by the word.

Faith IS NOT passive. Faith is the active dynamic by which we put to use the grace of God in our lives. If we refuse we receive the grace of God in vain and will perish in our sins.

Jesus is GOD Mediate.
Christians will do good works.
they don't talk about them continually though - do they?

being saved most assuredly IS a destination

Philippians 3 11 That perhaps I may be able to come to the resurrection from the place of the dead.

the Christian's blessed hope is the coming of the Lord and the resurrection of the dead.

my objection to the ideas in the first few posts stands.
this thread can morph from that to good works, it doesn't change the error in this thread that we save ourselves.

but he'd have to exercise self-control and think through his personalized theology before posting - he seems unwilling to do that.

yes, you do need instruction.
but you choose female televangelists and your own spontaneously generated theology.

I understand the Lord's salvation so secure in my life it is like the blood and water inside me that makes my spirit whole, His Spirit in me.
did you ever correct:
1) satan can pluck a believer out of Christ's hand?
2) Christians can commit the unpardonable sin?

Anyway, ceeallen, anyone else wanting to keep saying 'good' this, 'good' that, about God's 'this,' and, God's 'that,' know this.....

God does direct our steps.
that does not mean He ordained you a teacher. you're not.

stop saying 'The Lord leads' while you post your free form theology as if it were fact.
false teaching is a terrible SIN.

my faith and obedience is earning my salvation.
disgraceful.
just STOP making it up as you go.

if you hate the FREE GIFT so be it - but you have no right to lie about it.

Romans 5 15 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

Actually, obedience IS faith. Every action done in love, is by dedault an action done in faith and hope.

Jesus is God's Son. Not God. He was made from God and Mary. To be our perfect example.

What He DID, was make His thoughts, words and actions one.

He spoke in love. Thought in terms of love. And acted in love.

Jesus is God! Hebrews 1:8 But about the Son, He says "Your throne, O GOD, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy." He also says "In the beginning, O Lord you laid the foundations of the earth..."

John 14:10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?

therefore God, YOUR God, (Jesus' God) has set you (Jesus) above your companions (Jesus is perfect among sinners) by anointing you with the oil of joy.

Jesus is God's Son.

You don't believe that I am in the Father (My will is that of the Father's) and the Father is in me (as all Sons have part of their Faithers within them).

Their will is the same. But they are separate.

In simple terms, a son cannot be his own father. And God himself cannot be born out of a woman's womb.

The idea is perverse.

Jesus is a servant of God. And humbled Himself below all men. That is the spirit. That is the will and love of God right there.

But He also spoke to God, the Father, on many occasions. His seperateness (as a being) is evident. However, so is His oneness (as the epitome of love).

Jesus is God's Son. Not God. He was made from God and Mary. To be our perfect example.

What He DID, was make His thoughts, words and actions one.

He spoke in love. Thought in terms of love. And acted in love.
John 1:1-In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Matthew 1:23-Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Talk about God somewhere else, blessings and thank you, all.

Why Allen you continue to miss what. is. Being said. Are there too many periods and CAPS.

I NEVER. EVER. SAID. I EARN. SALVATION . BY FAITH AND OBEDIENCE.
