Sounds like they're attempting to predict what God's Holy Spirit will do. I think Jesus actually says this it is not possible:

John 3:8
8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Amen!

From what I've read about it so far, it's supposed to manifest as a combination of the first three, but only their positive aspects, none of the negative. Now, the question I have is: If the first three were genuine moves of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, why does their need to be a fourth that prunes the "negative?" Did the Holy Spirit not get it right the first three times?

This is just one person's opinion however. A lot of people are commenting on what this "fourth wave" is supposed to bring. But as you say, only time will tell.
The only thing that comes to mind is we are in a newer generation who did not experience this. That would be the only thing I can remotely come up with. When we do look at today's younger generations, the computer generation, the couch potato generation, the generation who is not in touch with humanity, who lives on their mobile devices and communicates through chat groups like "snap chat" and others. A true last Movement by the Holy Spirit would be for them in my best guess opinion.

God has declared it in Joel. During the late s1960's many believed this was already occurring. Dreams and visions were happening. I believe, due to the very Personal attention, that it was actually coming to be then.

Within two decades this was all behind, so now I believe the next world revelation will be the tribulation. It seems many have chosen evil over good and believe lies, for they love evil............... these folks are in the assemblies globally and it is only a matter of time before the world organization is in place. But this is what I tend to understand...I most likely will not be here for this , but no one kn ows.
Well Joel is talking to the nation of Israel. And not to the people worldwide. And if you consider the context then Israel will then be in a time of peace and prosper. This time Israel had not till today. Joel 2,21 ff.
Non of these so called 4 waves was from God.
And these 4th wave prepares the time for the antichrist in presenting the endtime church which begun with the ecomene movement.
Its sad to say.

As much as I want to agree with you, there is a specific [key word] found within Joel 2 that goes beyond the Jews and to everyone.

Joel 2:28
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh

The term, "All Flesh" means All Flesh and not just the Jews alone.

This is something that has recently come to my attention. Has anyone heard of this so-called Fourth Wave? To put things in perspective, the following articles explain the previous three waves and then the fourth.

https://www.emic.org/blog/the-fourth-wave/

https://www.charismanews.com/opinion/56670-the-fourth-great-wave-of-the-holy-spirit-has-begun

The main reason I'm posting this is to demonstrate once again that these things never just happen. People have to be educated and given time to warm to the idea. It will be slowly introduced. It will have a flavor that's relevant to current times. Then presto, seemingly out of nowhere, a new wave of the Spirit is upon us.
yes, I have.

Evmur, maybe in pure numbers and "decisions" made at revivals, etc. But how do you know souls are actually being won. Where are the statistics on retention rates? Where are the numbers on how many of these "decisions" lead to disciples actually following the Lord for the long haul?

in heaven

thank God cause if it were up to people?

well, we see the results right here

so how many of these anti anything to do with Charismatics or Pentecostals threads have you made now? I guess everyone needs at least one hobby

for the record, I am neither, having a conservative church background but God saw fit to bless me otherwise

with so much good that can or could be said and so much truth, yet you only seem to have this to offer

I thank God He led me away from churches that worship doctrine and a leather bound book instead of the Living God

I am a staunch believer in scripture first, but some of you do not believe half the New Testament

Just be careful. The last days will also be the time of deception, false prophets, and false signs and wonders. The Toronto Blessing is a prime example of this. It was supposed to be of God. Close examination showed that it was a satanic deception. Sadly, countless Christians, especially Pentecostals, were duped. The "TB" was, and still is, a blight on the body of Christ. There is a new generation of believers that Satan wants to deceive and render spiritually useless. I wish I could be more positive, but I am pretty sure that this so-called 4th wave is just a rerun of the Toronto Blessing. I'm happy to explain my position if necessary.
Your post reminds be of R A torreys nasty comments on the azusa street revival.
He called that move of God "satanic puke from hell".
Torrey was a man of God that wrote books on the Holy Spirit.
But was decieved.
You dont know anything about toronto.

I think I replied to the wrong post butut it was to you so I figure you figured out what I did.

In speaking of the cyber generation, I remember when calculators were forgidden in classrooms. After a very short time, they came into common usage.

One day at my work one of my fellows came in while I was working out the books. He was probably in his very early 20s. He said something the piqued my curiosity about his math prowess. I asked him, "B, what is three time 7? His prompt reply, I don't know.
I could have been pushed over with a feather.. I asked him if he ever learned his multiplcation tables,s and no was the reply. He could use a calculator. Now can you imagine justhow gone those are who rely strictly on the PC and the Internet? Not to mention their work chores.

I had other experiences with specifically math situations. When I came back to the US for medical consulataqtion, I worked briely at.. Anyways at emplyee meetings the boss would speak of something to do with figures asking the group what the solution to it would be. I would come back with the reply out of just plain old ciphering... Everyone in the meeting looked at me with their mouths hanging open. How did he do that? Gee by lultiply, dividing, addin and subtrcting the appropriate figures.

After this, when there was a meeting, the boss would just ask me in front of everyone. Kind off embarraqssing. Once I actually made an error, wow.. But never using a calculator.

Everyone who knows the one thinks they're part of a wave because they start seeing it everywhere and drawing to one another... it is always there, and so is the stuff in the history books... what man does of his own accord to gain acclaim...

Did I mention in my post that the activities were gone within two decades? I think I did, perhaps not with the exact years but I did.

In fact the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements are practically the only ones winning souls ... you may find it all repugnant but not everyone does.
I was a member of a Charismatic fellowship (Baptist) for 3 years and a member of a Pentecostal fellowship for 5 years. I was a youth leader at the latter. The Baptists had a regular gospel meeting devoted to unbelievers, which I believe is the correct approach. The Pentecostals had an open door policy. One of the problems I saw was that relatively few of the people attending were in fact born again. Paul Washer maybe a bit extreme, but he's not far wrong about the shallow preaching that typifies much of the church these days.

The conservative types tend to be introverted and insular. Those groups are fading away. The Pentecostal/Charismatic types are m ore outgoing, but many employ unbiblical methods to attract people. No gets saved by absorbing a hyped up atmosphere. A number of Pentecostal churches here go by the title "Enjoy Church". Lord help us. The word of God is meant to convict, correct, rebuke and train in righteousness. We should be full of love and joy, but Christians should also know the discipline of God's word and leaders should be prepared to tell it like it is.

Shallow preaching produces shallow believers, if they are for real in the first place. The goal of the church should be the same as God's, which is to see people saved, but also to be brought to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:4) Once a believer knows the truth, nothing can move him. Half an hour on a Sunday is not going to do the job. I see preachers on TV who are more like motivational speakers, telling people how wonderful they are and how blessed they are going to be. You will fill your church with preaching like that. But they remain spiritual infants, unable to stand in the day of trial and not equipped to do battle in the spiritual war that we are all fighting.

Lord Jesus said that few enter the narrow path that leads to life. Be one of the few, whatever the cost. I can assure you that it is most difficult and demanding but also greatly rewarding.

FYI Billy Graham said that he would be delighted if 4% of the people who went out the front were genuinely born again.

Dear Billy Graham whose memory all Americans ought to revere was not Pentecostal although h was far from being critical of them. He had done enough evangelism in third world countries to have witnessed the spiritual revolution the Pentecostals were bringing to those nations.

I do not favour the altar call .... millions were reached by Billy, who knows how many were saved.

Yeh ... I don't accept your analysis. I remember the first time I walked into a tiny old fashioned Pentecostal church. My face was lit up radiant and there wasn't a thing I could do about it ... they all thought it was the devil.

It is Pentecostals of the 40s 50s and 60s who let the testimony fall and were backslidden. God is doing great things today.

Well ... the critics call them megachurch in derogatory terms ... when people displease themselves with what God is doing they will just be displeased. I have always been opposed to altar calls and "decisions" while admitting many do get saved thereby.

If it were true that they soon fall away their churches would not be getting bigger and bigger in numerical terms, then they split up into church planting and each church plant grows into full blown assemblies.

God is doing great things.
