I understand how many times "believe" is mentioned, even throughout scripture. THAT faith/belief is what gets us born again of the Spirit. Those of us that are born again of the Spirit have a firm foundation in Christ and DO endeavor to WALK by the Spirit. If you can do that 24/7, I applaud you . . .

The Apostle Paul also clearly said in Galatians that we are to walk in the Spirit so that we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh (flesh [carnal, old man nature] is still there!) For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. - Scripture speaks of a battle, a race, a fight . . .

The Apostle Paul also clearly said in Romans 7 - For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal (that which is born of the flesh is flesh), sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. (old man nature) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth NO good thing: for to will is present with me; but to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is NO MORE I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me (old man nature, flesh, carnal) I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me (in the old man nature, in the flesh). For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: (the new creation, the divine nature) But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, (flesh vs. Spirit; Galatians) and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death (body of death, dead body) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. . . .

Who shall deliver us from this body of death? Jesus Christ - when he comes to redeem those that are his - we will be as he is . . . .

Once again though the bible and Apostle Paul show that you can not continue to give into those lusts, which is what walking in the Spirit will keep one from doing. Walking in the Spirit will not lead a person to give into their lusts and lead a person into wrong doing. Apostle Peter and Paul clearly both say by continuing in those teachings they will keep you from stumbling...

Then again you bring up Romans 7 which is the stance of the new believer who has not matured in the faith yet, as Paul then shows in Romans 8 the mature believer. He does this by his own testimony here, and shows clearly that the carnal mind does not have eternal life but is still under condemnation by the flesh.....

Hi. I'm new to CC and I was just randomly looking at postings and read this one and I have to say that you have presented this doctrine in a very insightful and biblically truthful manner.

I think part of the problem with this issue is that people don't understand the difference between faults and sins. It says in Psalms 103:12-13a "Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins." When we become sin free at salvation those are all the presumptuous (to undertake with unwarrantable boldness) sins we have committed all our life so far and because they are washed away by the blood of Christ we are no longer held accountable for them.

Faults, however, are defects or imperfections; flaws; failings that are a part of our lives that the bible does not specifically declare as sin and we do not blatantly perform knowing they are displeasing to God but once He tells us they are and we need to let Him cleanse us from them. If we don't, if we continue in them, then they can reach a point of sinning. We make mistakes. When we realize we do we correct them, try not to do them again as we work with the Lord to not do them again. So in a way those who believe in sinning/Christians are really believing in faulting/Christians. The problem is that by putting faults in the same place as sin then they have to claim some kind of eternal security in that if once you accepted Christ as your Savior and then go back into real sin that you will still go to heaven. They do this in order to explain how an avid sinner is still going to make it in. As I'm sure you realize, this is a very dangerous doctrine that can send these poor deceived souls to hell. I am so blessed to know that when Jesus died for me to be free of sin that I am free indeed.
