Genesis one

JOSEPH

- Then Jacob blesses his sons!

- Reuben the firstborn will not excel because he has gone up to Jacob’s bed!

- Simeon and levi are instruments of violence and slaughter weapons!

- Because of their anger they kill people!

- Their anger is cursed!

- Judah is a lion cub and the scepter will not depart from him until the coming of Shiloh!

- Thus we are told about the coming of Jesus!

- Zebulun will reside by the seashore!

- Issachar is a strong-boned donkey and will be submit to forced labor!

- Dan will judge his people!

- He will also be a serpent!

- Gad will fight back the marauder bands!

- Asher’s bread will be abundant and he will provide food for a king!

- Naphtali is a slender doe and speaks with elegance!

- God is with Joseph and Jacob gives him special blessings!

- Benjamin will keep on tearing like a wolf!

- Then Jacob asks to be buried in Canaan with his wife Sarah and Isaac and his wife Rebekah and Leah!

- Finally Jacob dies!

- Thus Jacob behaves as a prophet!

- Jacob’s first three sons are bad ones!

- They can’t control themselves!

JOSEPH

- Joseph has his father embalmed!

- Then he asks Pharaoh for the permission to go to Canaan to bury his father!

- So Jacob’s sons bury him in Canaan!

- After that, they all return to Egypt!

- But Joseph’s brothers are afraid of Joseph because of what they did to him when they were younger!

- So they tell Joseph that Jacob gave a command before his death to pardon the transgression of his brothers!

- But Joseph tells them not to be afraid!

- And he lived 110 years!

- Then Joseph is embalmed and put in a coffin in Egypt!

Exodus 16

1) ISRAEL MURMURS AGAINST MOSES AND AARON AND GOD

- People murmur about food!

- They would have preferred to die in Egypt!

- Then God provides quail and manna!

- But as usual they don’t follow God’s instructions, they disobey!

- And they eat manna for 40 years!

Exodus 17



2) ISRAEL MURMURS AGAINST MOSES AND GOD

- They complain about the lack of water at Horeb!

- So God makes water comes from a rock!

- The Israelites must also fight the Amalekites!

- And Moses tells Joshua to chose men and fight the amalekites!

Exodus 32

3) ISRAEL MURMURS AGAINST MOSES AND GOD

- Moses stays 40 days and 40 nights on Mount Sinai!

- Israel asks Aaron to make a god to worship!

- So he makes them a golden calf!

1) ISRAEL GETS INTO BIG TROUBLES

- As a consequence God tells Moses he wants to EXTERMINATE them and MAKE a great nation of Moses!

- But Moses calms God down !

- And Joshua hears the noise of the people because of their shouting and he tells Moses about a sound of battle in the camp!

- When Moses arrives at the camp , his anger becomes to blaze and he burns the golden calf!

- Then Moses asks who is on God’s side!

- And all the Levites gather around him!

- And according to God’s will, Moses tells the Levites to kill the Israelites and they kill 3,000!

- Then Moses goes back to Mount Sinai and asks God to pardon Israel’s sin!

- If not, he wants God to wipe him out from the book he has written!

- But God tells him he will punish those who have sinned against him!

- Thus Moses has to put his good relationship to God in the balance to save the Israelites but they can’t escape punishment!

- What a CHARACTER!

- What a difference with the Israelites!

Exodus 33

- What a statement!

- What a condemnation!

- I will send you an angel ahead of you!

- But I will not go in the midst of you for you are an obstinate people, and I might exterminate you on the way!

- God knows the Israelites will look for troubles again and again!

- And you call that a chosen people!

- How is it possible to be so blind!

- So short-sighted!

- So limited!

- Moses vs the Israelites!

- God speaks to Moses face-to-face just as a man speaks to another man!

- RESPECT!

- If Moses leaves the tent of meeting to go to the camp of the Israelites, Joshua his minister and attendant stays in the tent!

- Another deep relationship from the beginning!

- NO MAN CAN SEE GOD AND LIVE!

- So God lets Moses see his back but not his face!

- Apparently it is really difficult to understand this sentence!

- But it is so simple!

- But MAN’S TRADITION is just another GOLDEN CALF!

Exodus 34

- God warns the Israelites what they should do or not if they don’t want to get into trouble!

- And he will keep repeating it again and again!

- AND THEY WILL KEEP DOING THE REVERSE AND BRINGING MORE TROUBLE!

- But humanity has always done the same!

- But once again we are told about special relationships between God and individuals!

- But it means a lot more than just sitting on a chair and doing nothing!

- YES FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD!

Leviticus 10

- Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu offer before God unauthorized fire!

- The PUNISHMENT occurs all at once!

- A fire comes out from before God and consumes them and they die before God!

- It should remind us that nobody is too important in front of God!

- On the contrary, when people have more responsibilities regarding God, they should be more careful because they won’t escape their mistakes!

- HISTORY shows that important people usually don’t care!

- And it is so true today!

Leviticus 18

- STAY CLEAN OR THE LAND WILL VOMIT YOU OUT

- But they didn’t listen!

- NEVER!

- What about us?

- It is not better today!

Numbers 11

4) ISRAEL COMPLAINS BEFORE GOD

2) ISRAEL GETS INTO BIG TROUBLES

- God is so angry that he sends a fire to blaze against the Israelites!

- Then the people begin to cry out to Moses!

- He makes supplication to God!

- The fire dies out!

Numbers 12

- Miriam and Aaron begin to speak against Moses!

- They are jealous of his authority!

- Moses is by far the meekest of all the men!

- According to God, no discussion is possible!

- Because he speaks to him face-to-face!

- There is no vision between them!

- And God becomes very angry at them!

- And Miriam is struck with leprosy!

- Aaron asks Moses to pardon them and recognizes their foolishness!

- And he asks Moses to speak to God to stop Miriam’s leprosy because it is getting worse and worse!

- And Moses begins to cry out to God!

- And God tells her to be quarantined for seven days outside the camp!

- The Israelites were warned so many times and they didn’t care!

- And it is the same with humanity!

- And people don’t care!

- And people don’t understand God’s patience!

- When he finally strikes humanity, it will only be deserved!

Numbers 13

- Moses sends 12 spies into the land of Canaan!

- After 40 days the spies return!

- Ten spies say it is a good land but the people are too strong!

- But Caleb tries to calm the people and tell them to go straight away and take possession of the land!

- But the 10 speak against him!

Numbers 14

- And people keep crying out and weeping through the night!

5) AND ALL THE ISRAELITES BEGIN TO MURMUR AGAINST MOSES AND AARON AND GOD

- And the whole assembly speak against them!

- And they want to return to Egypt!

- JUST CRAZY PEOPLE!

- And Joshua and Caleb tell the assembly that God is with us and he will give them the victory!

- And they tell them not to rebel against God!

- But the assembly want to stone them!

- UNBELIEVABLE!

3) ISRAEL GETS INTO BIG TROUBLES

- And God wants to strike them with pestilence and drive them away and make a great nation of Moses!

- But once again Moses calms God!

- And God listens to Moses!

- But he punishes them!

- The Israelites will wander in the desert for 40 years and die!

- Only Caleb and Joshua will survive and get into the promised land!

- And their children will pay for their fathers’ sins by staying in the desert for 40 years!

- But the Israelites disobey God and try to enter into the promised land but they are struck by the Amalekites and the Canaanites!

Numbers 16

- Korah, Dathan and Abiram and 250 men oppose Moses and Aaron!

- The next day, they will offer sacrifices and God will show who is the leader!

- Moses tells the assembly to go away from these wicked men!

- And the earth opens and swallows the three men and everything that belongs to them!

- And a fire consumes the 250 men!

6) AND ALL THE ISRAELITES BEGIN TO MURMUR AGAINST MOSES AND AARON

- As if it is not sufficient, the next day the whole assembly of the Israelites begin to murmur against Moses and Aaron!

4) ISRAEL GETS INTO BIG TROUBLES

- And God wants to exterminate the assembly!

- And people start to die!

- So Moses tells Aaron to make atonement for them!

- And Aaron keeps standing between the dead and the living and the scourge stops!

- And 14,700 people die!

Numbers 17

- God tells Moses to take a rod from the chieftains of each paternal house, 12 rods in all and write the name of each one on his rod and deposit the rods in the tent of meeting before the testimony!

- And the rod of the man whom God chooses will bud!

- Thus God will put a stop to the murmuring of the Israelites against God!

- The next day Aaron’s rod has budded with flowers and almonds!

- Then they keep Aaron’s rod as a sign to stop the murmuring of the Israelites!

Numbers 20

7) There is no water and the Israelites gather against Moses and Aaron!

- They quarrel with Moses!

- God tells Moses to get water from a crag!

- So Moses does it but without giving the credit to God!

- As a consequence, God punishes Moses and he won’t lead the Israelites into Canaan!

- And Aaron will also die and not enter Canaan!

- Thus Eleazar, Aaron’s son, becomes high priest!

- Then Edom refuses to allow Israel to pass through his territory!

Numbers 21

- First Israel is beaten by the Canaanite king of Arad but then God gives him to Israel!

- Then Israel destroys all his cities!

8) Israel keep speaking against God and Moses as they complain about the lack of food and water!

5) ISRAEL GETS INTO BIG TROUBLES

- God sends poisonous serpents and Israelites die!

- So they ask Moses to intercede with God!

- So God tells Moses to make a copper serpent and the Israelites who are bitten must look at it to keep alive!

- And Israel defeats different kings and destroys their peoples and takes possession of their lands!

Numbers 22

- Balak the king of Moab wants to pay Balaam to curse Israel!

- But God tells him not to curse Israel!

- Balak asks for Balaam a second time and God tells him to go to Balak but he must say what God tells him!

- And God puts an angel in the road taken by Balaam!

- And he has a sword!

- Balaam can’t see the angel but his donkey can and refuses to go ahead!

- Balaam begins to beat his donkey!

- Finally the donkey doesn’t want to go ahead and lays down!

- Balaam is furious!

- Then God causes the donkey to speak!

- At last, God letsv Balaam sees the angel with the sword!

- Then God’s angel tells Balaam that if his donkey had not avoided him, he would have killed him!

Numbers 23-24

- Finally Balaam blesses Israel according to God’s will!

- He can only bless Israel!

- So Balaam blesses Israel three times!

- And Balak becomes furious with Balaam!

- Before going back home, Balaam tells Balak that Israel will destroy all his enemies!

Numbers 25

- In fact, Israel is its worst enemy!

- The people commit sexual immorality with the daughters of Moab!

- Because of the Moabites, they worship their gods!

- So God becomes enraged with Israel!

- God tells Moses to hang all the leaders of these people!

- When Moses orders the judges of Israel to kill the men who worship the Baal of Peor, a man brings a Midianite woman before Moses and the assembly of the Israelites!

- Then Phineas the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pierces both the man and the woman through her genital parts!

- All at once the scourge stops and 24,000 people die!

- Then God gives Phineas his covenant of peace that is a covenant of a lasting priesthood for phineas and his offspring after Phineas!

- Then God says to Moses to strike the Midianites for a revenge!
