the O.T commands were about the drinking of blood, not about a medical procedure. those commands, which by the way, were only given to Israel, not the whole world, but anyway, those commands were to keep Israel away from pagan practices.
pagan practices like eating other human beings to get the blood and life inside them?

You are paraphrasing, do you realise that?
The prohibition is specifically against the eating or drinking of blood!

Again, do you not see a difference between having blood as part of a meal and a blood transfusion?
to me it makes no difference how the blood gets inside you.

Perhaps you should research WHY that prohibition was put in place originally.
Hint: start with the pagan practices of the Canaanites...

they drank blood and ate people to get the life of that person inside them. it was a good thing in that culture, to them it improved you, made you a greater, better man.

Maybe that's where the legend of vampires comes from. Renewing youth from drinking blood. Scientists are trying to do the same thing with blood transfusions.

Ecclesiastes 1:9
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

The blind stupidity here simply amazes me....

"scientists", or doctors are not trying to "restore youth" with blood transfusions.... they are trying (and succeeding) to SAVE LIVES....

deep breath.....

There are some denominations such as Jehovah's Witness who have an aversion to giving or receiving blood. I have search the Bible for some foundation on this but have found none.
One day a lady in my church was sharing a "testimony" about how she had to have surgery and the doctor advised her that she would need a blood transfusion. The doctor told her that was a high probability that she would die without the blood transfusion. So she's telling us how she doesn't believe in taking blood transfusions and that she was going to have "faith"...
Fortunately she survived but I'm sitting my seat thinking that was really stupid. God gave us doctors for a reason so their advice should be heeded.
I'm imagining someone dying from a similar circumstance and God says....well duh... what part of the doctor's instructions did you not understand?
I think I'd rather have a blood transfusion than die.

If one can survive blood-loss by getting saline injections and still make it, without having to get the blood of strangers who could be the type to sell their blood to buy drugs or who sleep around a lot but manage to pass an HIV test, the saline solution sounds better.

You need blood plates for coagulation though....
Saline only increases fluid volume

It also doesn't oxygenate blood, carry hormones, provide nutrition to the body. :)
Lack of oxygen causes brain damage and damage to other organs.

Re the verses about not eating blood in the OT, there was a
specific reason, here are the verses in context.

Leviticus 17:10-12 NKJV
[10] 'And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among
you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood,
and will cut him off from among his people. [11] For the life of the flesh is in the
blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls;
for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.' [12] Therefore I said to the
children of Israel, 'No one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any stranger who
dwells among you eat blood.'

The shedding of blood was set as the penalty needed to pay the price of sin. There
was literally life in the blood of an animal, it could save you if the correct sacrifices
were made in the correct manner.

However that has since been superceeded by the crucifixion in the NT. If you
doubt that, then why are you not still offering those OT animal sacrifices.

1 John 2:2 NKJV
[2] And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for
the whole world.

1 John 2:2 NLT
[2] He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins-and not only our sins but the
sins of all the world.

Oh right. The people doing what you're saying nobody is doing, must be amateurs.

The fact that people would actually risk their lives over this it's kind of sad. This is not biblical. It's just superstitious nonsense
People risk their lives in all kinds of ways. Bungee jumping, rock climbing, hang gliding, parachuting, many sports, and especially extreme sports, come to mind, even gymnastics and golf. Has anyone noticed how bicyclists in auto traffic seem to have a death wish? I wonder how many people have died just walking down some street minding their own business. Life is risky.

0.01
Deaths per 100 million passenger miles in airplanes.
Some airline industry executives assert that passengers
are now more likely to die in an airport than on an airliner.

0.05
Deaths per 100 million passenger miles on buses and trains.

0.72
Deaths per 100 million passenger miles in cars.

1 in 1.2 million
Airplane flights that involve some kind of accident.
The mishaps are not always fatal.

1 in 3.7 million
Chance that you will be killed by a shark.

1 in 11 million
Chance that you will be killed in an airplane crash.

1 in 5,000
Odds that you will be killed in a car crash.
"You're much more likely to die getting to the airport than
you are flying in the plane," said the editors at Discovery.
