Jn 14:13-15
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
KJV

These are likely the most misunderstood verses in Scripture. They are CERTAINLY NOT a license to command God!

We see the true meaning of the words 'in my name' in a legal instrument called a power of attorney.
When a person is unable to act on their own behalf for any reason they will give a highly trusted person authority to act for them. The presumption is that the authority conveyed will not be abused.

God has not given us a power of attorney; but we may draw a similar intent.

The words in My name' mean 'By my authority'

The intent here is: 'If you ask for what I've told you to ask for, you can be sure of getting it.'

We may certainly ask for anything we desire; and God may grant our request, but, we have no assurance of getting it.

adding the words 'in Jesus name' to any desire that comes to mind is NOT what this is about; in fact I am persuaded that the words 'in Jesus name' should only be used when God has revealed that He wants you to ask for what you are asking for.

OK, obviously I have to spell it out for you..

Learning, when it is the sole focus of the unrighteous man -- the one who does not belong to Christ -- is discounted, made useless. The passage speaks of those who study through intellectual endeavor but never open their heart to what they read.
I didn't read it that way.

Gods are never ambiguous. If you have an "ambiguous god" you have no god at all. Learning, as Zmouth said, is discounted learning as being the sole focus of unrighteous men.

1 Timothy 3 NASB
2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,
7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Which, by the way, covers the rest of where you place your faith. See a problem here?
That last verse has me stumped now. Are they always learning about God and his word but not coming to the truth? Or are they always learning about human knowledge, but never learning the truth about God and his word? (Which I think it means)

It is dealing with religious knowledge. They learn all the right phrases, but not the Spirit of it.
What they learn, they use to entrap the weak, and exploit their doubts.
