I don't have to. Phil already did.
Really? Can you please explain how anything effects anything that I have posted? If you cannot should you not BELIEVE God's WORD?

...............

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

i'll explain it like this - gentiles were never under the Law. phil36 explained it. also, in Deuteronomy 5, when God is explaining the Sabbath to Moses, he explains how he brought Israel out of Egypt , out of slavery. that is why the Sabbath was given to Israel (not the world, them only ). to remember that they were once salves in Egypt.

were you at Sinai? were you once a slave in Egypt ? if no, then Sabbath was not commanded for you. ( or gentiles ).

Well that is not true at all gb9.

So you and Phil are interpreting Deuteronomy 5 as Christians do not have to keep God's 10 commandments because they are not Israei correct?

The purpose of God's Law (10 Commandments), is to give us a KNOWLEDGE of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS (Romans 3:20; 7:7; James 2:11; 1 John 3:4).

If you have no KNOWLEDGE of SIN you have NO NEED of a SAVIOUR. IF you have NO NEED of s SAVIOUR you have NO SALVATION. IF you have NO SALVATION you are lost and still in your SINS and do not KNOW him who calls you (1 John 2:3-4) because SIN is the transgression of God's LAW (10 Commandments) and those who KNOWINGLY practice SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEn because they have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son (Romans 6:23; Hebrew 10:26-27).

God's LAW (10 Commandments) are the schoolmaster to show us who we really are. SINNERS in need of a Saviour. If you have lost or broken your mirror how can you see who you are or know him who calls you?

Jesus says; They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Many do not know the meaning because their mirror is broken or lost.

If you believe Phils interpretation of the scriptures nearly the whole bible would disagree with you.

Let's look at only some of the New Testament on what Jesus and the disciples taught on the 10 commandments and then we will look at the scriptures in another post on who God's Israel is in the NEW Testament....

Jesus taught the 10 commandments…..

1. Jesus kept God’s Law (10 commandments) and said the Law and the prophets would not pass away (Matt 5:17-18)
2. Jesus taught others to follow the 10 commandments (Mark 10:17-21)
3. Jesus taught that Love is the fulfilling (doing) of God’s Law (10 commandments Matt 22:36-40)
4. If we break God’s Law by following man-made traditions we are not following God (Matt 15:3-9)
5. Jesus says if we commit sin we are a servant of sin and he has come to free us from sin (John 8:32-36)
6. Jesus taught if you love God you will keep God’s Law and abide in His Love (John 14:15; 15:10)
7. If anyone is breaking any of God’s commandments and teaching others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven <least = lost> (Matt 5:19)
8. No one can obey God’s Law producing the fruit of obedience of ourselves and unless we abide in Jesus we can do nothing (John 15:4-10)

Paul affirms the Ten Commandments……

1. Paul teaches God's people keep the Sabbath (Hebrews 4.)
2. Paul tells gentiles that "what matters is KEEPING the Commandments of GOD" (1 Cor 7:19)
3. Paul tells gentiles "it is not the HEARERS of the Law that are just before God but the DOERS of the Law will be justified... on the day when according to my GOSPEL God will judge all mankind" (Rom 2:13-16)
4. Paul asks that gentiles consider the doctrine of LAW "Do we then make void the LAW of God by our faith? God forbid! In fact we establish the Law of God" (Rom 3:31)
5. Paul tells ALL Christians that it is only the lost who will "not subject themselves to the Law of God neither indeed CAN they" (Rom 8:6-8)
6 Paul reaches all Christians under the NEW Covenant that God's LAW as known in (Jer 31:31-33) is "written on the heart and mind" (Heb 8:7-11)
7. Paul tells all Christians that the OT text is to be used for Doctrine (2Tim 3:16)
AND He never claims that "if I did not write it -- it is not scripture for us today" -- as one or two have imagined for us.
8. Paul tells all Christians that the 5th commandment is the "FIRST commandment with a promise" (Eph 6:1-2) and is binding on all Christians.
9. God's Law (10 commandments) are holy, just and good (Rom 7:12)
10. God's Law gives us a knowledge of what sin is (Rom 3:20; 7:7)
11. The penalty of breaking God's Law without Jesus is death (Rom 6:23)
12. If we break God's Law we dishonor God (Rom 2:23)
13. If we sin we are "under the Law" and guilty before God (Rom 3:19)
14. We are saved by faith but our faith establishes the Law in us (Rom 3:31)
15. If we are saved by grace we should not break God's Law (Rom 6:1-7)
16. We should not break God's Law if we are under grace (Rom 6:15)
17. We are to serve the Law of God through the mind because that is where sin starts (Rom 6:17; 7:25; 8:4; 12:2)
18. It is God's Law that brings us to Jesus (Gal 3:24)
19. God's salvation frees us from sin so we can be obedient to God's Law and live a life of holiness (Rom 6:22)
20. We will be judged by God's Law and only those that are obedient will be justified because of their faith (Rom 2:4-13)
21. God's Law can only be obeyed through love and a changed heart which comes by faith in God's Word (Rom 2:21-29; 13:9-10; Heb 8:9-10)
22. If we break God's Law and are in unrepentant sin we will be lost and will received God's judgements (Heb 10:26-27)

John affirms the 10 commandments……

1. John says it is only by keeping God’s 10 commandments that we know that we know God (1 John 2:3)
2. If someone says that they know God and do not keep God’s 10 commandments they are lying and not telling the truth (1 John 2:4)
3. We should purify ourselves as Jesus is pure (1 John 3:3)
4. Sin is the breaking of God’s 10 commandments (1 John 3:4)
5. Whoever is abiding in Christ does not commit sin (1 John 3:6; John 15:4-10)
6. If you are in unrepentant sin you have not seen Jesus or know him (1 John 3:6)
7. John warns us that only those that are obedience to God’s Law are his true followers (1 John 3:7)
8. If someone is committing unrepentant sin they are following the devil and not God (1 John 3:7)
9. If you are born of God and abiding in him you will not commit sin (1 John 3:9; 1 John 3:6; John 15:4-10)
10. It is the keeping of God’s commandments that is the difference between those that are following God and those that are not following God (1 John 3:10; 1 John 5:3)
11. It is only by Love through faith that we can keep God’s commandments (1 John 5:3-4)
12. God’s true believers in the end days will keep all of God’s commandments through faith in Jesus (Rev 14:12; 22:14)

James also affirms the 10 commandments…….

1. James says God’s Law (10 commandments) are a Royal Law (James 2:8)
2. If we break one of God’s commandments we a guilty before God as sinners breaking all of God’s Law and gave some examples of breaking God’s Law (James 2:9-11)
3. James says God’s Law is a law of liberty and freedom (James 2:12)
4. The 10 commandments (God’s Law) are the standard in the judgment (James 2:12)
5. If our faith does not have the fruit of obedience to God’s Law it is dead and not true faith (James 2:16-26)

Peter affirms the 10 commandments……..

1. Sanctification is to obedience to God’s Law (1 Pet 1:2)
2. We can only be changed from sin to obedience to God’s Law by the power of God and it will be revealed in the last days (1 Pet 1:5)
3. We should give up our sins to be holy because Jesus is holy (1 Pet 1:13-16)
4. Jesus is your example who did no sin (1 Pet 2:21-22)
5. Cease from sin and do not live in the flesh (1 Pet 4:1-3)
6. Judgement will begin at the house of God and sinners (those breaking God’s 10 commandments) will not be saved.
7. God has given us his precious promises and as we believe them God will grant us his divine power to live a life of Godliness (obedience to God’s Law; 2 Pet 1:2-4)
8. The Un-Godly (disobedient to God’s Law) will be like Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Pet 2:6)
9. If any turn away from God’s Law and are in unrepentant sin breaking any of God’10 commandments they will be lost (2 Pet 2:20-22)
10 God is not willing that any should perish but that everyone should come to repentance and turn away from sin to follow God’s 10 commandments because those that do not will receive the judgements of God (2 Pet 3:5-14)

What did Jesus and the Apostles teach about the Sabbath in the New Testament?

1. It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56)
2. Jesus made the Sabbath for all mankind (Hebrews 1:2; John 1:1-3; 14; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16-17; Mark 2:27)
3. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28)
4. If you do not believe and follow God you cannot enter His Sabbath rest (Hebrews 4)
5. It is one of God’s 10 commandments we break it we are guilty or breaking all (James 2:8-12)
6. Breaking it is sin (1 John 3:4)
7. God’s true followers keep it Holy as God commanded (Rev 14:12; Rev 22:14; Eze 20:20)
8. Jesus is our example and he kept the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matt 16:24; 1 Cor 11:1; Eph 5:1-21; Pet 2:20-22)
9. The Apostle kept the Sabbath (Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Rev 1:10)

Now these are ONLY A FEW SCRIPTURES ONLY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT. It seems like James, Peter, Paul and John all agree with Jesus that OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is the FRUIT of FAITH that works by LOVE and fulfills God's LAW in those that BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. If your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to the 10 Commandments then you are still in your SINS and do not KNOW him who is calling you. If your tree has no FRUIT it is cast down and thrown into the FIRE.

There seems to be a lot of scripture that disagrees with you and your friend... Just saying take a look at them all. This is not even exhastive and only from the NEW Testament. Time for you to leave Sunday school and seek Jesus through His Word for yourself in prayer.

Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW IT.

........................

Now gb9, please look at all the scrioptures I have sent you. Be like the faithful Bareans and study the scriptures to see if these things are so asking God to be your guide in prayer. If you are serious about wanting to follow Jesus you will seek and ask him. God has brought you here for a reason my friend. Please hear his words....

Who are God's Israel in the NEW Testament...........

"Israel" is only a name given by God himself to represent his people. The origin of the name "Israel" come from Genesis 32:28 where Jacob wrestled with the Angel and prevailed ...for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. Its meaning is his posterity will rule as God. Jacob had 12 sons representing the 12 tribes of Israel.

Israel is only a name given by God that represents God's people and today anyone who is following Jesus is part of God's Israel according to God's Word.

What does God's Word say.....................................…

Let God be true and every man a liar that thou might be justified in thy sayings, and might overcome when thou art judged.

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He says not, and to seeds, as of many; but as of one, AND TO YOUR SEED, WHICH IS CHRIST (Galatians 3:16)

Abraham’s seed is Israel............................................

THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: FOR YOU ALL ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS AND IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN YOU ARE ABRAHAM'S SEED FOR YOU ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS and IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN ARE YOU ABRAHAM'S SEED, AND HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE (Galatians 3:28).

No explanation needed, believe God's Word, and again..........................

FOR THEY ARE NOT ALL ISRAEL WHICH ARE OF ISRAEL,: NEITHER, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SEED OF ABRAHAM, ARE THEY ALL CHILDREN: but in Isaac shall thy seed be called <Christ> That is, THEY WHICH ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE FLESH, THESE ARE NOT THE CHILDREN OF GOD: BUT THE CHILDREN OF THE PROMISE <those who believe> ARE COUNTED FOR THE SEED (Romans 9:6).

FOR HE IS NOT A JEW WHICH IS ONE OUTWARDLY; NEITHER IS THAT CIRCUMCISION, WHICH IS OUTWARDS IN THE FLESH: BUT HE IS A JEW WHICH IS ONE INWARDLY; and CIRCUMCISION IS OF THE HEART, IN THE SPIRIT, AND NOT IN THE LETTER; whose praise is not of men, but of God. (Romans 2:28-29)

Believe the scriptures........................................ ..........................

Galatians 3:28-29,
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Colossians 3:11,
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Romans 10:11-13,
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 2:28-29,
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

The New Covenant is for God's Israel..........................

Jeremiah 31:33-4,
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Hebrews 8:10-12,
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Hebrews 10:14-17,
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Galatians 3:29,
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise

The New Covenant is for God's Israel which represent God’s followers the believers. If you are not part of God's Israel you are not part of the New Covenant (Hebrews 8:10-12).

God's Israel are those that believe the Word of God and follow it and is why Jesus says If you love me keep my commandments (John 14:15)

...............

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Believe the scriptures........................................ ..........................

Galatians 3:28-29,
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

There is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

I do not look at certain, out of context scriptures. I have read the Bible through, every word, many times . that is why I know that command keeping does not save, faith in Christ does.

so, does Deuteronomy 5 12-15 commamd Sabbath keeping to Israel as a reminder of coming out of slavery or not?

was Moses wrong? did he add words to what God told him? or did say and mean exactly what God told him about Sabbath ( for Israel only)

No one, has ever said to you Commandment keeping saves anyone. We are only saved by GRACE through FAITH and not of ourselves it is a GIFT of GOD and not of WORKS lest any man should boast.

What is being shared here is that SIN will keep anyone practicing is OUT of God's KINGDOM.

We are only saved by FAITH however if our FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then your faith is dead and you are still in your SINS because you have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son.

SIN is breaking God's 10 Commandments. ANYONE knowingly breaking any of God's Commandments who do not REPENT and seek the LORD in Forgiveness will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of Heaven.

God knows that many SIN out of ignorance but when he gives us a KNOWLEDGE of the truth he calls us to REPENT and BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. If we choose not to BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD then we reject the GIFT of God's dear son and it is written.......

If we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

.................

The thread is about the Sabbath and seeing as any calendar is of fairly recent construction, considering the age of man, which did not begin with the parents of Cain and Able who were farmers and shepherds and settled in one place, while earlier peoples were hunter gatherers and had been for umpteen generations. So with that in mind and knowing as I do that Ice Age man and cavemen to give two example, did not have calendars as we know them, other than very rudimentary standing stones as seen at Stonehenge for example, then quite clearly any modern calendar is man-made and I know this from the way Jews monitored the months and the planting and harvest times and added a month to bring it back into sync accordingly. In this way it developed as men learned about planting and harvest times as they monitored nature and watched when the seeds germinated etc. When the month was added, riders were sent to every part on the nation to tell the people. The calendar was man-made probably over a number of generations and to say it was God given and the Sabbath was the day God rested, when God neither slumbers or sleeps is totally ludicrousness and this invention needs to stop. Sorry, but there we are.
How is what you say relevant to a 7 day week? Where God's 4th Commandments Sabbath is always the 7th DAY? Simple truth it is not.

...............

I do not look at certain, out of context scriptures. I have read the Bible through, every word, many times . that is why I know that command keeping does not save, faith in Christ does.

so, does Deuteronomy 5 12-15 commamd Sabbath keeping to Israel as a reminder of coming out of slavery or not?

was Moses wrong? did he add words to what God told him? or did say and mean exactly what God told him about Sabbath ( for Israel only)
Hello gb9,

Sure Moses meant exactly what he said. You keep ignoring one fact: The Sabbath was not established under Mosaic law but at creation. The 4th Commandment starts with "Remember the Sabbath." We are honoring the creation of God. The same Jesus established the Sabbath, why would He change it?
Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

Rest was established at creation.

The ritual of sabbath was established under mosaic law.

The Lord Jesus says "Come to me and I will give you rest"

He doesn't say "come to me and I will give you the ritual of sabbath observance."

Right?

Jesus Himself kept the weekly Sabbath. We do not keep it for salvation, we are following Jesus' example. Doing all we know to be just like our Lord and Savior.

two facts Deade:

sabbath observance was never commanded in scripture until Exodus 16, and reading that text ((when manna was given)) it is evident that the Israelites were not formerly accustomed to keeping it, as they ((including Moses)) had to be told what to do to observe it and a number of them didn't. Exodus 16 comes before Exodus 20. "
remember"

if we're going back to Creation for the establishment of things, the LORD rested on the 7[SUP]th[/SUP] day. He set the moon in the sky on the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] day. 4 comes before 7. the premise of this whole thread is that in Colossians 2, contrary to a plain reading of the text, Paul is actually instructing gentile believers to keep "new moon festivals, feasts and sabbaths" -- if your argument is that sabbath must be observed, in accord with this twisted view of Colossians 2, based on its temporal, ordinal presence in the creation account, then the new moon festival should be kept with precedence because the new moon came before He rested from His works, and it also is mentioned in Colossians 2 before sabbaths.

where are the denominations that make new-moon-festival keeping their key issue?
where's all the new moon festival threads?
why doesn't someone tell me how i, a converted gentile believer, should be keeping the new moon festival?
why are we completely leaving manna out of the discussion? why aren't we remembering the True Bread from Heaven?

Hello posthuman,

One fact you left out was when the Sabbath was sanctified (set apart, made Holy): It was at creation.

Genesis 2:3: And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Later, He made it a sign of the very identity of His People. Then He established it forever.

Exodus 31:13: “Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.”
Exodus 31:17: “It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.”

Which our Lord Jesus observed and so will I.

Deade

Hi Posthuman how are you today? Some comments for your consideration below...

two facts Deade:

sabbath observance was never commanded in scripture until Exodus 16, and reading that text ((when manna was given)) it is evident that the Israelites were not formerly accustomed to keeping it, as they ((including Moses)) had to be told what to do to observe it and a number of them didn't. Exodus 16 comes before Exodus 20. "remember"
Actually this is not true at all. The Sabbath was given to mankind in the Garden of Eden to our first parents and it was made and set aside from all the other days of the week as a HOLY day of REST for all of MANKIND on the 7th day of creation.

God's Sabbath is a memorial of CREATION that was made in the creation week and given to our first parents (Adam and Eve). Let's look at the scriptures. Let's look at the scriptures............

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2, And
ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made.
3, And
GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY, and made it HOLY <the 7th day>: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

RESTED H7673 שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}[a primitive root]KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep Sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

Some points to note from the scriptures...............

v1 God completed creation in 6 days and RESTED on the 7TH DAY
v2 God RESTED on the 7TH DAY
v3 God SET APART the 7TH DAY and made THE 7TH DAY a HOLY DAY
v2 The 7TH DAY is part of the FINISHED WORK of the CREATION WEEK

Let's now look at God's 4th commandment............

Exodus 20
8,
Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
9, Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
10, But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
<WHY>
11,
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested theSEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

SABBATH H7676 שַׁבָּת shabbath (shab-bawth') n-e. 1. intermission, a period of temporary rest.2. (specifically) the Sabbath, the seventh day being the day of rest.[intensive from H7673]KJV: (+ every) Sabbath. Root(s): H7673

Now who did God make the 7th day a Holy day for? Is he making that day a Holy day for himself? Of course NOT God is already Holy. He has made the day for MANKIND as a HOLY DAY.

Let’s see what Jesus says…………

Mark 2
27,
And he said unto them, THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR
MAN, and not man for the Sabbath.

The Sabbath was made for WHO? The Sabbath was made for
MAN. So here we have the God of creation telling us why the 7th Day was made a Holy day. It was made for MANKIND

STRONGS Greek
MAN G444 ἄνθρωποςanthropos (an'-thrō-pos) n.
1. (literally) man†-visage (i.e. a man-faced being, a man who has visibly come of age).
2. (concretely, in Hebrew)
a clay being (a classification of beings made in the image of God, who made them male and female). 3. (generically, in English) a human being. 4. (indefinitely) a certain man (i.e. someone).
[from
G435 and ops “the countenance” (from G3700)] KJV: certain, man Root(s): G435, G3700

So the Sabbath was made for Human beings; clay beings (we are made out of the dust); male and female

So God made the 7th day of the week a HOLY day and blessed it for MAN this now ties in very nicely with the 4th commandment (Exodus 20:8-11)

God says that it is a specific day which is the 7TH DAY OF THE WEEK that he has made to be a HOLY DAY. Jesus says it was made Holy in the creation week for mankind. All scriptures connect and are in harmony. Genesis where God made the Day a HOLY DAY; God’s 4th commandment to His people that says to REMEMBER the Sabbath day to KEEP it a HOLY DAY and Jesus stating that the Sabbath was made for MANKIND (Human beings; male and female).

Now if God made the Sabbath for mankind then obviously Adam and Eve had the Sabbath the
GREEK Word for MAN G444 ἄνθρωποςanthropos (an'-thrō-pos) n. is a clay being (a classification of beings made in the image of God, who made them male and female). There is only two people made out of clay (dust) and that is Adam and Eve.

if we're going back to Creation for the establishment of things, the LORD rested on the 7th day. He set the moon in the sky on the 4th day. 4 comes before 7. the premise of this whole thread is that in Colossians 2, contrary to a plain reading of the text, Paul is actually instructing gentile believers to keep "new moon festivals, feasts and sabbaths" --
My friend this is also not true whatsoever and does not follow Gods Word. What comes first God's time or the created time? It is God that calls the creation week DAY 1 to DAY 7. Yes that is HIS order of creation but HIS order of creation does not effect how many days there are in a week because the sun and moon were made on the 4th day. it is God's Word and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW him.

Secondly, you have not read the OP of this thread have you? The premise of this thread is the ALL scripture is; All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness and we are to LIVE by EVERY WORD OF GOD. BECAUSE JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD (2 Tim 3:16; Matthew 4:4; John 1:1-14)

Everying in the NEW Testament scriptures comes from the OLD Testament writings. EVERYTHING in the NEW Testament scriptures builds on the OLD Testament. IF you do not understand the Old Testament how can you understand the NEW? Spiritual things are spiritually discerned. If you do not seek Jesus through His Word how can you KNOW him who calls you?

This thread and premises is NOT instructing anyone to keep FULL MOONS and FEASTS. IT is also NOT instructing anyone to OBSERVE the special annual festival SABBATHS of Leviticus 23 which are NOT God's 4th Commandment weekly Sabbath of Exodus 20:8-11. This only furthe shows you have NOT even read the OP.

What this thread is showing through the WORD OF GOD, is that COL 2:14-17 is in reference to the ceremomial laws of Moses for remission of SINS that were written in the book of the Covenant and that these were Shodows of things pointing to Jesus and God's plan of salvation and NOT God's LAW (10 commandments) and the 4th Commandment which is the weekly Sabbath.

If you disagree please address the OP with scirpture. If you cannot should you at least make an effort to read the OP and search the scriptures? If you reject the Word of God you reject Jesus who is the LIVING WORD.

if your argument is that sabbath must be observed, in accord with this twisted view of Colossians 2, based on its temporal, ordinal presence in the creation account, then the new moon festival should be kept with precedence because the new moon came before He rested from His works, and it also is mentioned in Colossians 2 before sabbaths.
If you read the OP you would know that the NEW MOONS and Annual Festivals as well as the special annual Sabbaths that can fall on any day of the week were a part of the Mosaic book of the Covenant and not the 10 Commandments and this is where your wole argument falls to pieces. You do not understand what makes up the Old Covenant. It is the Mosaic book of the law that is a Shadow of things fulfilled in Jesus and pointing to God's plan of salvation NOT the 10 commandments of which the 4th Commandment is one of the 10.

God's LAW (10 commandments) is the KNOWLEDGE of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Romans 3:20; 7:7; James 2:11; 1 John 3:4).

SIN is the transgression of God's LAW (1 John 3:4). If we knowingly break any one of the 10 Commandmetns we stand guilty before God in SIN.

..............

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)

Hope this helps.

Sanctify = "set apart"

He also "set apart" the moon and sun for times and seasons.

If you read what you quoted, you will see that He gave the sabbaths both for an express purpose and to an express people: the nation Israel, as part of the covenant He made with them at Sinai. You ate not part of that covenant

And you did not at all explain why i should not feel likewise compeled to observe new moon festivals.

The Bible uses the same language 'established forever' to describe the Priesthood of the Levites and for the sacrifices.

Why do y'all not treat it the same when you read it in other places?

Israelites are sons of Jacob.
Abraham is not a son of Jacob.

Abraham was never commanded to observe days.
Abraham was commanded to keep circumcision of the flesh.
The promise came before circumcision.

What does the Bible say about circumcision of the flesh for Gentiles who have come to a knowledge of God?

Sanctify = "set apart" He also "set apart" the moon and sun for times and seasons.
Now posthuman really? Are you saying that God made the sun and the moon Holy? If so please provide your scripture. Here lets' look at God's Word.....

Genesis 1
4,
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15, And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16, And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17, And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19, And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Now where in the the scriptures does God make Holy the Sun and the Moon?

You may need to revisit your definition of SANCTIFY which is not used at all in the above scriptures. Now lets look at where the word Santify is used............

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2, And
ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made.
3, And
GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY, and SANCTIFIED IT <the 7th day>: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Here we go this is where the Hebrew WORD is used

Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries w/TVM, Strong SANCTIFIED
קדשׁ; qâdash; kaw-dash';
A primitive root; to be (causatively make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): - appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, defile, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), X wholly.

So no the Sun and Moon are not holy. God blessed and made HOLY the 7th DAY of the week as a memorial of creation of mankind.........

Exodus 20
8,
Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY.
<WHY>
11,
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested theSEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

There we go Exodus 20:8-11 connects very nicely with Genesis 2 which also say that God made the 7th day of the creation week a Holy day.

SABBATH
H7676 שַׁבָּת shabbath (shab-bawth') n-e. 1. intermission, a period of temporary rest.2. (specifically) the Sabbath, the seventh day being the day of rest.[intensive from H7673]KJV: (+ every) Sabbath. Root(s): H7673
H7673 is the root word of Sabbath which is REST from Genesis 2

MAN G444 νθρωποςanthropos (an'-thrō-pos) n.

Now if God made the Sabbath for mankind then obviously Adam and Eve had the Sabbath the
GREEK Word for MAN G444 νθρωποςanthropos (an'-thrō-pos) n. is a clay being (a classification of beings made in the image of God, who made them male and female). There is only two people made out of clay (dust) and that is Adam and Eve.

So not my friend the Sun and Moon is not Holy and your argument has fallen to the ground.

If you read what you quoted, you will see that He gave the sabbaths both for an express purpose and to an express people: the nation Israel, as part of the covenant He made with them at Sinai. You ate not part of that covenant And you did not at all explain why i should not feel likewise compeled to observe new moon festivals?
This was indeed already explained. The New Moons and Annual festivals were a requirement of the Mosaic book of the Covenant and not the God's 10 Commandments. It is the 10 commandments and the Mosaic book of the Covenant that together make up the OLD Covenant. God's LAW written on STONE is forever and is the KNOWLEDGE of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS. The Mosaic book of the law is a Shadow of things to come pointing to Jesus and the plan of slavation. It is the Mosaic book of the law for remission of SIN that included the NEW MOONS and ANNUAL Festivals that pointed to Jesus that are the Shadows of an unfinished work not the 10 commandments which are forever.

This is why I suggested you read the OP because you do not know what the OLD Covenant is. If you do not know what the OLD Covenant is you will not know what the NEW Covenant is. Hope this helps.

...................

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)

Hope this helps.

Hi LGF,

Again another side step. I have checked back on your answers..you seem to cherry pick your texts... we are dealing with what Moses further enlightens (therefore God) on the law. We'r talking about Deut 5:ff not Ex 20:1ff

I'll re post the post again for easy perusal :

What does Moses say in Deut 5:1ff.

Of course we understand you may not like what Moses says here as it blows your argument out of the water. First of the commands where for those under the covenant made at Horeb (the mosaic covenant),, and in case you try and say the 10 commandments are different from the law please re read what Moses says:

22 “These words the Lord spoke to all your assembly at the mountain out of the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and he added no more. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me
.

And of course what was on the tablets????? The tablets are the Covenant documents!

I'l reprint for you to read.

Deuteronomy 5:1-22English Standard Version Anglicised (ESVUK)

The Ten Commandments

5 And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rules that I speak in your hearing today, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them.

2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

3 Not with our fathers did the Lord make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today.

4 The Lord spoke with you face to face at the mountain, out of the midst of the fire,5 while I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to declare to you the word of the Lord. For you were afraid because of the fire, and you did not go up into the mountain.

He said:

6 “‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
7 “‘You shall have no other gods before me.
8 “‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
9 You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

11 “‘You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

12 “‘Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. 13 For six days you shall labour and do all your work,14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

LGF will NOT CONSIDER ANYTHING that contradicts Ellen G White. It is impossible to persuade him of anything.

He should be refuted for the sake of those who are not well grounded in Scripture. However I refuse to respond to him directly; because he puts the authority of E.G.White above the authority of Scripture.
