I have chosen not to reply to you before because God has talked to my heart in not replying to you. But again, to inform our other readers here about the truth of God's Word, it is unmistakable to anyone who reads Hebrews 10 in what it says plainly. For Hebrews 10:26-31 says,
"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." (Hebrews 10:26-31).
Let's break this down and comment on it. Hebrews 10 goes back and forth between talking about the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. The "Knowledge of the Truth" in verse 26 is receiving Jesus Christ as one's savior and repenting of their sins. For Jesus is the way, the Truth, and the life (John 14:6). Also, this is clear by the context of the verses before it in verses 19-25. For in verses 19-25 we clearly see that it is talking about Jesus and the New Covenant at this point in the chapter (As the message goes back and forth between the Old and the New). Here are the verses proceeding verse 26 (that make it clear that it is talking about Jesus)."Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised: ) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:19-25)."In this passage in Hebrews 10, we see a clear contrast being made here. That person who despised Moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. Then it contrasts it with the New Covenant in troddening under foot the Son of God and sinning despite the Spirit of Grace. And this part of Scripture in Hebrews 10 also makes it clear that it is talking to believers currently. For it is talking in the present tense. For the Lord has yet to stilll judge His people. It is a future act. So it is indeed a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. This is a present day reality that will lead all the way up to the Judgment.
