Deuteronomy 18:10,11 -
There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

Lev 20:27 -
A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood [shall be] upon them.

Of course, we are in the New Testament now and don't stone, but there is still a principal that wizards are bad.

You might be saying "Oh it's just a kids movie, it's harmless." Keep in mind:

2Cr 11:14 -
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Born of the flesh born to be evil even though we are taught to do good, and sin takes occassion by the commandment, all need to be reborn and none will until they cry out to God and recieve the born again life by faith John 3

The amount of people terrified of a childrens novel in here is just mind-boggling. I read all 7 Harry Potter books, never gave me the desire to cast spells or turn people into frogs.

Nautilus, the Enemy can influence our children :( BUT Harry Potter isn't one of these.
I'd be more worried about Barney the Spawn of Satan Dinosaur and those Bratz dolls. :p

Isn't that what all good fiction should do? Encourage you to read the next book in the series?

No but the first enticed you to the other six.

Now by watching and relating all things to God one can learn from God and be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove, it is discernment that God gave us and we can do all things through Christ, and by Christ we will makethe right judgements I personally have notwatched Harry potter, but e seen Buffy the Vampuire slayer and Angel and Charmed. I gained a lot of wisdom from each series, because I relate all to God sifting all through my heart, seperating truth from error and these shows use a lotof truth just like the devil in order to decieve, but having Go9d on your side no weapon formed against you can ever prosper. All things work towrds God's good and since oyuare in God that works towards your good

True and yet I'm a Bible-believing Christian just like you but I'm not afraid of fiction because I know that, while I need to be discerning, God is greater than the Enemy.

Disagreeing with something does not make one afraid of it.

Yes, that's true. Sorry, I shouldn't have directed that post at you, some of the others here are scared of fiction though, it seems.

As far as 'logos' goes, of course that word was cemented into the greek language well before it's use
in the N.T.
But we are not to frame the Word of God in our reasoning minds - (the old definition).
We are to accept it.
God's Word is forever settled in heaven, it is not to be equivocated, dampered, philosophized, or maligned by the cogent-(or mad), minds of mankind. It is SETTLED. "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Word will not pass away".
What we are to do is to "study to show ourselves approved, a workman needing not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth."
So to say I lack logic and therefore don't know Logos (the Word, - which is what you meant); is a very serious charge.
Such liberties to answer for!

Nobodies afraid of it.
Who's afraid?
I didn't need it. - (You want quality fiction? Try Charles Dickens)
But man, just making a point, that's all.

If by enticed you mean I like finishing things i start. There was no demonic power enticing me. I love reading when I start a series I finish it.

The wand through which Harry Potter performs his magic is made from holly wood. Hollywood is in Los Angeles or Lost Angels. So Hollywood is what lost angels use to perform magic.
Your logic is amazing.

What does Harry Potter do to help our relationship with God grow, to have Him get glory for fruit produced of Him throufh us off our 'tree'? That's what we want, should want, anyway. Right :)

Now, read John 15 :)

Just like God can USE people with long hair to relate to the hippy seekers, or, unbelievers, if they are not seeking, He certainly COULD use someone to READ Harry Potter to then speak to a congregation or do devotional Christian book.on it of what's the danger of 'entertaining oneself with a hocus-pocus power instead of a Holy Spirit power. :)

The Lord leads. "...you follow Me." John 21:22 :) One more verse for you to read, call it 'dessert.' :D

Before I was Christian, I was into wicca and the new age. I cast spells and did some interesting stuff. Why? Because growing up, I watched movies like Practical Magic, The Craft, and Escape To Witch Mountain. Movies with magic do have an influence on kids. If you go to any book store, you'll see a beginners guide to witchcraft next to a Harry Potter book. I don't want to give any of my money to support the kingdom of darkness.

Rick, the literally millions of people who are devout Christians AND read Harry Potter disagree with you. You why no old people are agreeing with my side? Because everyone over 30 is too old to have enjoyed the books as children. It's like the older generation during Star Wars. It doesn't make it evil, it just makes it too "childish" for that generation.
