I've just looked at 1corinthians 11:15 and it says that long hair is a glory and a cover for the head.

But is it mentioned anywhere, how long hair has to be in the Bible or Jewish history?

Only asking because people still wear hats "for the angels".

If your are a woman, yet for men..

Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 1 Cor 11:14

In my church women do wear veils. I don't feel it is important, but that's what Paul says in one of his letters to the Corinthians.

The veil signifies a woman's submission to her husband. That doesn't mean women are supposed to adopt a "whatever-you-say" attitude -- they must be respected as part of the decision making process, but the final decision rests with the husband.

In my church all women wear a veil, but not all women respect the final authority of their husbands.

Honestly, I read it the other way and everywhere I look nearly, people say it says to wear a veil, but I don't see it because the priest of the holy temple wore a turban. And it was common to wear sun head shades/headwear. I see it saying, we have no such custom, in Jew or Christian church.

Women are to have long hair, men are to have short hair. It is shameful for a woman to have her hair shaved up the sides of her head. A married couple who sit in front of me in the pews both have short hair. From the back they look like two males.

How long is long? One of David’s sons had long hair- long enough to get caught in a tree branch while riding a horse. Can you imagine one of today’s buzz cut ladies’ hair getting caught in a tree? Not even if they tried.

It would seem that if the hair looks natural than that's the length. In my opinion I would say a mans hair shouldn't go past his shoulders and a woman's shouldn't be shorter than that, but I would also take the cultural norm into the some consideration, some hair styles are a little on the short side but are obviously a woman's hair style, yet some styles intenionaly make women look masculine.

The verse isn't saying that the covering Paul wants women to wear is their hair. If their hair was the covering than Paul wouldn't compare an uncovered head to a bald head or say that women who have thier heads uncovered should have their hair cut off.

The reference in scripture to short hair being shameful is cultural based. Back in Paul's time a woman cut her hair short so she could hide amongst men in ships and other places as a prostitute. So therefore, if a woman had short hair it may have well been implied that she was a prostitute, so in order to not bring shame to her and her husband Paul makes that declaration in scripture. Long hair, short hair, medium hair we're all the same in God's eyes its not going to be long hair or short hair that is going to keep people from Heaven. On the contrary some Christian sects the women are very vain and prideful of their "long hair that's never been cut". Ten years ago, my mom went to speak at a women's conference at a church one time and after it was over a woman approached her and questioned what had happened to her long hair. My mom is a cancer survivor and during Chemo lost her hair, and has kept it shorter since. Now let me ask you this, what of this woman that seemed to focus more on my mother's "shameful" short hair than her message? If hair is a sign of holiness or "greatness" for a woman in church, then many women at some congregations might as well be bald.

There was a custom for the married lady to shave her hair.. Hasidic Jews.. now I have considered Paul is dealing with this custom amongst believers... almost like he is re-stating what he is being asked with regard to this matter.. he finishes with:

12For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. 13Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? 14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

It is God Who says it is unnatural and shameful. Sin is not a matter of human opinion but of God’s definition. Yes, there are cases that are out of our control such as cancer. For example, God does not want us naked, yet during the holocaust many were stripped of their clothes against their will. God is only speaking of what is in our control, of our own choice- to choose what God says.

And in that mindframe, if it were me, I would choose a wig if I had to. Because to purposely be a man with long hair or a woman with short hair is a sin according to God. Women must not even braid their hair, so if it’s not even long enough to braid, that indicates the length is not long enough, and if that is by choice, that is a woman choosing to sin against God if they are aware of the Bible verse. For the Bible says “He who knows the good he ought to do, yet chooses not to, sins.” But those who choose not to read the Bible to purposely not know God’s rules, because ignorance is bliss, will be found guilty of every rule they refused to read.

Sometimes it just means the woman had breast cancer.

In general, a woman's hair length is longer than a man's. Don't see any reason why a woman would want to wear a hat. Perhaps a baseball cap for the guys. Not sure what you mean about wearing hats 'for the angels'. They can wear their own hats.

Like I said, some things are out of our control, but I was answering him who said his mom chose to stay with short hair after cancer.

Sorry, but saying it is her pride, is a negative translation, because the worst sin is pride etc. Don't know what version your using, says glory in KJV.

I've heard that the science at the time of Paul, was that women s genitalia was there hair, like a tubular vacuum mechanism drawing up male fluid. And male genitalia were thought of as taughtening weights to allow fluid to flow from the brain.

It is written somewhere I heard, that males with long hair were a shame in greek science (Aristotle etc) because it was thought that it counteracted the weights with vacuum, keeping fluid in the brain.

Shaven women around this time were often prostitutes. And the non-biblically argument suggests Paul was dealing with this science and MAY?, have thought it obvious to show uncovered genitalia in temple as men with low shorts/kilts in temple are listed in the Old testament to be a shame uncovered.

This is all noted in ancient Greek medical/science. Maybe PAUL was thinking of enochian watcher issues. OR IT really is just a shame. We will basically only find out from God what the truth is.

There is greed in hairstylists- the shorter the hair, the more often it needs to be cut, the more money they make. So they promote short hair in everyone. There have been lawsuits because many of them purposely cut off more than requested, because they think if you get used to shorter hair they’ll make more money. I have been a victim of this a couple times.

One hairstylist was even so bold as to take my bangs halfway to the back of my head without my permission. It took me a long time to grow out my bangs so that I could make them not go back far, and she drastically changed that without asking. But taking off seven inches of length when you say two inches is even worse.

I have long hair and I can tell you maintaining it keeps at least one hairdresser fed...LOL.

For those of us who doth not ken being comely, here it is in modern English...:)

[SUP]12 [/SUP]For as the woman [SUP][l][/SUP]originates from the man, so also the man has his birth through the woman; and all things [SUP][m][/SUP]originate from God. [SUP]13 [/SUP]Judge [SUP][n][/SUP]for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? [SUP]14 [/SUP]Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him, [SUP]15 [/SUP]but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her for a covering. [SUP]16 [/SUP]But if one is inclined to be contentious, we have no [SUP][o][/SUP]other practice, nor have the churches of God.
