Right. In Rom 10:11-13 we read For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Then we have vss 14-15 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
God is using the gentiles to provoke the children of Israel to jealousy (Rom 10:19).
Understand and thanks....the discourse begins in Romans 9.31 and ends in Romans
[SUP]31 [/SUP]but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at
that law.
<<<<<he is now talking about Jews...[SUP]
32 [/SUP]Why? Because
they did not
pursue it by faith, but as though
it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, [SUP]33 [/SUP]just as it is written,“Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,
And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
Romans 10.1-15 is still taking about the Jews...
Why are you leaving out 1-13 and jump to 14-15?
10 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for
their salvation. [SUP]2 [/SUP]For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. [SUP]3 [/SUP]For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness. [SUP]6 [/SUP]But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), [SUP]7 [/SUP]or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” [SUP]8 [/SUP]But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, [SUP]9 [/SUP]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus
as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; [SUP]10 [/SUP]for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. [SUP]11 [/SUP]For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” [SUP]12 [/SUP]For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same
Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; [SUP]13 [/SUP]for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
[SUP]14 [/SUP]How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? [SUP]15 [/SUP]How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”
Why leave out vs 16, 17, 18, 20 and 21?
[SUP]16 [/SUP]However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” [SUP]17 [/SUP]So faith
comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have;
“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the world.”
[SUP]19 [/SUP]But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says,
“I will make you jealous by that which is not a nation,
By a nation without understanding will I anger you.”
[SUP]20 [/SUP]And Isaiah is very bold and says,
“I was found by those who did not seek Me,
I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”
[SUP]21 [/SUP]But as for Israel He says, “All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
Now on to Romans 11.1-10
11 I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. [SUP]2 [/SUP]God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in
the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel? [SUP]3 [/SUP]“Lord, they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life.” [SUP]4 [/SUP]But what is the divine response to him? “I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” [SUP]5 [/SUP]In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to
God’s gracious choice. [SUP]6 [/SUP]But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened; [SUP]8 [/SUP]just as it is written,
“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
Eyes to see not and ears to hear not,
Down to this very day.”
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And David says,
“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
And a stumbling block and a retribution to them.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]“Let their eyes be darkened to see not,
And bend their backs forever.”
We can see that Chapter 9.31-33, All of Chapter 10 and Romans 11.1-10 is about the Jews and Pauls desire for the Jews to be saved....Paul stops taking about Gentiles in Romans 9.30 and does not bring them up or start talking to them again until Romans 11.11
