Why the Torah keeper? Why not? The WHOLE BIBLE (all 66 chapters are Torah). There are laws/commandments/statues/INSTRUCTIONS/illustrations/genealogy/history/and prophetic teachings/words, etc. The Bible is the LORD's love letter to His family. Some are Brides, and some are guests. Some are neither. There is a Wedding coming, for those who have accepted the Re-newed Covenant.

Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them (those who the LORD divorced/ten tribers/House of Israel and finding fault with the House of Judah/Judah/Benjamin/Levites), he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Mat_15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Deu_30:3 That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

Mat_5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Deu 24:1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
Deu 24:2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.
Deu 24:3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;
Deu 24:4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

Jer 3:1 They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.

Rom 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
Rom 7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
Rom 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law (THE LAW OF DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE); so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
Rom 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law (THE LAW OF DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE) by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, , even to him who is raised from the dead,, even to him who is raised from the dead,, even to him who is raised from the dead, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Who died and raised from the dead? Yehovah/THE LORD/YHWH/Yeshua/Salvation

This is what a Saviour is!! My LORD and Saviour, came as Immanuel/God with us.
Torah, by the laws and rules of the Hebrew Language, is solely designated and dedicated to the LAW of God, written by Moses.

Yes, the LAW did indeed become the Messiah. But the LAW is only a Portion of the Messiah. The Messiah also includes the Gospel of the Prophets and the Psalms.

The Messiah is the whole entire Tanakh, the complete Old Covenant.

And even though the Old Covenant included the LAW, Prophets, Psalms, the Messiah is even much more.

The Messiah is not only all of the Old Covenant, He is also all of the New Covenant as well.

Torah = LAW

Tanakh = Messiah

People are really confused about the old covenant.
What the old covenant is.
It isn't the same as the old testament. Covenants were made with Abraham and Noah and they are all the same thing.

A covenant by definition is an agreement or a contract by two parties.

The covenant made with Israel at Sinia was clearly the one that is made old.

In Heb 8:6-10 it is explained.
1. He obtained a more excellent ministry, ....
JESUS'S ministry in heaven is more excellent then the blood of bulls and goats, more excellent then the earthly ministry done by priests.

2. was established upon better promises. .....
The promises of a heavenly kingdom are better then a Earthly kingdom, and the promises Jesus gave us are better.

3. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. .....
As the next point will show the fault wasn't with God or the promises of God or the Law of God. The fault was with the way the people tried to obey, the way it was kept, the way it was forgotten.

4. For finding fault with them, .....The fault was not God or His perfect moral law it was with the people.

5. I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: ....
New! not because it is a different way of being saved. Salvation by faith is the means of savation from the start. The blood of Jesus was what made this covenant new. He didn't change the conditions of salvation. It has always been faith in God's grace.

6. Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. ....
They didn't keep there side of the agreement. They were faulty in their agreement.

7. For this is the covenant that I will make.....
God makes it clear in following verses

8. with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; ....
We are grafted into the house of israel.

9. I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:...
God will estabish His laws in us and write them in our hearts and minds.

The old testament is not the old covenant.. the new covenant is not the new testament.. the new covenant is Jesus writing His laws on our hearts and minds. Because we fail to write them on hearts by our efforts like Israel of old did.

Is a covenant a marriage contract? Both sides have a responsibility? Everything you stated above is good/great, in fact. I would add to your comments that the House of Israel was divorced by God and His own laws (Deuteronomy 24:1-4) does not allow Him to recovenant with the adulterous wife.

There is only one way that God/LORD/YHWH can remarry the House of Israel. And that is to come in the flesh/Immanuel/God with us. By becoming "human" and still be God/the husband, He is then free to die (perfect/spotless Lamb), shed His blood and water, be buried by the sign that He is who He says He is, which is 3 days and 3 nights in the grave [like Jonah in the belly of the fish for 3 days and 3 nights. [Do you notice that Jonah went to the Gentiles to tell them to repent or else they were going to get destroyed. They believed Jonah and they repented and were not destroyed.]

When God/Immanuel/God with us/became alive again/in His new glorified body/He was now free to remarry the adulterous wife/House of Israel. One catch, she must also die to her old self, repent, be baptized, and raise up in the newness of life now given to her.

Paul, figured out the Mystery and he was called to preach and teach the Gentiles and says it quite well in Romans 7.

Rom 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
Rom 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another,

even to him who is raised from the dead,

that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Jeremiah knew God's intentions, but he was puzzled how God would do it without breaking His own LAW.

Jer 3:1 They say, If a man put away (Divorce) his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.

Faithless Israel Called to Repentance

Jer 3:6 The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.
Jer 3:7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
Jer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
Jer 3:9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.
Jer 3:10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.
Jer 3:11 And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
Jer 3:12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.
Jer 3:13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
Jer 3:14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
Jer 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Jer 3:16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.
Jer 3:17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.
Jer 3:18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
Jer 3:19 But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
Jer 3:20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.
Jer 3:21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.
Jer 3:22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.
Jer 3:23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.
Jer 3:24 For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
Jer 3:25 We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.

There is a lot the Bible admonishes us to Not Do on the Sabbath. My dilemma is what can we DO? I spend some time in prayer, some time reading the Word, and then I am stumped. I physically cannot sit around all day and end up just doing things (renovations on house etc) that are self-serving. What is acceptable to God on this day? What sort of things do YOU do to keep the Sabbath?

The Scriptures clearly teach that the Sabbath was to be a special sign between God & Israel forever. It is not for Christians. It is intended as a National Law. It can not be correctly kept world wide as when it is Saturday in Israel it is Friday or Sunday elsewhere. Jesus is a Jew and during his earthly ministry was under the Mosaic Law. At His death he left a will, "The New Testament" which frees believers from the Law on stone but writes His moral laws on the heart of the believer. No longer I must or must not out of fear but I will or I wont out of love,

Yes Israel did play the harlot but God was long suffering with them. He could have walked away from them many times. The choice is for everyone to make as to if we will be married to Christ or not.

Being married to Christ doesn't make the law void. Because if the law was void i could play the harlot and sin in any way without and it wouldn't be sin.

Sin is still sin even if Christ has given us a clean slate.
The new covenant gives us the promise....I WILL PUT my laws into the minds and write in their hearts.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

What do you mean, 'Sin is still sin'.

You are a sinner and so is everyone else.

So what are you trying to say?

So you're saying just sit around and read scripture all day? Surely there are other ways to glorify God's day..

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exodus 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exodus 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Read your Bible and learn what it means to be a Christian. That's what I'd do.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Nowhere in the Word has the Seventh Day been changed to the first day of creation..

The laws that are yet to be observed are now inscribed upon our hearts, not on stone, therefore we know the T"en Commandments are of Love, and our Maker is Love.

Jesus, Yeshua, teaches, if there is not mercy in the law, we may consider that law forgone.

The Old Testament Christian should be the same as the New Testament Christian for the law and the prophets point to Jesus Yeshua.. After all we are the True Israel of God, by translation
Acts 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

there was no New testament when Christ and Paul walked the earth they were both teaching out of the Old Testamen!

The sabbath no longer applies as in the letter of the law. People need a day of rest. Israel was an agrarian society so their rest was physical. An office worker may be better off doing gardening or wood work.

The sabbath rest for the born again believer is spiritual, not natural. (Hebrews 4:9). God finished His creation in 6 days then rested. God, in and through Jesus, finished His new creation through the death and resurrection of His only Son. We need not strive in our own strength because Jesus said, "It is finished". The Law demands that we do something. Grace is God doing for us what we cannot do for yourselves. If we are trying to be good Christians, we will wear ourselves out and we will fail. When we realise that God has given us Jesus to be all that we should be but cannot be, we will quit trying and start trusting. God is not pleased with our striving. He is pleased with Jesus in us. Let Jesus do the living and all will be well.
Acts 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

Your really saying that salvation is through Jesus plus obedience to the law.
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. (Gotta do both according to the Bible stop following Man!)

1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1 Peter 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

this is what it means to be a true Christian following Christ
if Christ kept the Sabbath you keep the Sabbath
if Christ kept the law you keep the law, not christianity that’s of man!

Your assuming that the word, 'commandments', means the law. I do not think that John is saying Jesus and the law of Moses.

Is that a commandment?

Jesus was crucified for sabbath transgression and claiming to be God.

Jesus worked on the sabbath day as was His habit.

You don't establish the law, you only establish 1% of the law.

Paul was talking about the entire law in Romans 3:31

The law, as explained and taught by the Mister, is taken from stone and inscribed upon the hearts of all who truly believe.

We know that according to Jesus Yeshua, any law which does not contain justice, mercy and more may be passed by.

As per observing the Sabbath, of course Jesus Yeshua did so, however He did specify that His Father was working ergo so must He.

We are the same, we observe the Sabbath while serving the Father. If our service is required on the Sabbath, we will work on the Sabbath. The Sabbath is made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

As long as what we do on the Sabbath is nor intended for abject carnal pleasures.............we are just fine. That is abject carnal pleasures, not the pleasure of pleasing our Father.
