Because of another post I again considered this question.
This is not a debate over rapture, I see words that prove both ways. But for now I ask that we set this debate aside because of the question that I hope we can find answers to not only in scripture, but in our hearts and souls.
When all of us as christians live in the times to come, when there will be great suffering, famine, disease, corruption run rampant, and loss of so much that sustained us in the world.
I believe as christians we are called to serve.
Even now we may pass by that standed motorist on the road for concern that it may be the trap of a criminal.
There are many phony schemes in the name of charity.
Im sure you get the point here.
How will we be with others, not only christian but those that have yet to know Our Lord Jesus, when things get ugly?
We are as christians are called to serve and witness.
Will you open your door to one in need, care for the sick because there are so many and no one that can come to them or are afriad? Feed a stranger that is suffering? When things get bad.
I have thought about this alot.
What I am biblicly asked to do.
What I know in Jesus that I should do.
But should we? And will we?
Do as Jesus asks?

In my heart my prayer is that I would still serve as Jesus called us to do for the least of our brothers.
But I do wonder if Ill have the courage and streanght.
My hope in Jesus is that I will.

So what say you, will you serve in Jesus?
Or is there scripture that excuses us?
Think about this one as we all wonder what is ahead for us. And how and what we will need to prepare for in Jesus?

God bless, pickles

it is a hard one pickles

we are told to be wise as serpents but harmless as doves

I have been called cynical but I continue to be amazed at how gullible some christians are in different ways; we all should pray for discernment

the particular verse about how we treated Jesus brethren has a specific application as to how non Jews treat Jews in the tribulation; remember the church wont be here then but there will still be people coming to believe

I'm happy to help now so I'll keep helping. I can't feed all the people in the world but I will do the best I can always.

When things get bad enough, it's no time to be a goody two shoes and feed or help non-christians, it's time to go into survival mode and look after your christian brethren, family and yourself as a priority, and the hardship that the unbeliever encounters is either God's judgement or the mechanism by which they will seek and find God. When the end comes, as the bible indicates anyway, the world should have already been thoroughly and extensively evangelised.

If God is love, and He is, and God is immutable (unchanging in nature), and He is, then I do not believe that He will ever desire us to not act in love toward believer or non-believer. I appreciate Mahogany's concern about abandoning the brethren to care for the unbeliever, but I know that God always has a righteous way to accomplish our callings.

Don't forget God works in seasons and times and from Noah to the early church persecutions we find the believers not really engaged in charity towards unbelievers freely as we have today, but knuckling down or hiding if necessary and supporting the specifically chosen apostles and evangelists to carry out their dangerous task of preaching the gospel, whilst the catastrophe occurs around them. In those times they shook the dust off their feet, and those who rejected them were left for God's judgement. The end times are the season and time for God's judgement it is in the grace period which is now, that the charity towards unbelievers is to be completed and the gospel preached to the whole world and when that occurs, the end will come .

When in sin, I was a risk taker. After coming to know Christ, I don't believe that part of me has changed. I remember picking up a hitch hiker with one half of his face tatooed. I remember picking up a hitch hiker with a strong Irish accent who claimed to have once been with the IRA. I picked up two young women with 2 dogs going a few 100 miles.

On a Sunday with my ex-wife and my 2 kids we picked up a woman who obviously hadn't eaten in a while and whose teeth were in very poor condition. She joined us at McDonalds for lunch. This was years ago, and each time I did my best to share Christ. The alleged ex-IRA member was somewhat surprised when I also bought him a meal and a room for the night. He was planning to sleep under a bridge. There's more, but not in this country.

This isn't boasting, but I simply believe that if I see someone in need, I will do my best to meet the need, and consider my own safety second.

I have always tried to help, having children affects how you respond in many circomstances. I am greatful that my children are mostly grown now as that concern is less worry. I believe we will be called to help, but that God will give us a gift of disernment. As there will be those he wants us to help and some that he wants to look only to him.
I believe there will also be those we will be asked to close our eyes to. These will be the ones that will not be saved. But those I think God will make so we will not see.
My true hope is that I will not fear helping.
I also know that Jesus calls each of us to serve him in differant ways.
I asked this question because I believe we need to start streanthening faith in many ways.
Disernment, trust, courage and most important, faith hope and Love.

Amen and Amen, you are a blessing Pickles. Some thoughts...
Pro 3:28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
1Jn 3:17 But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
1Jn 3:18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

It's funny because these verses pop into my head anytime I see someone in need.

This scripture has been so close to my heart lately.
It is a prayer close to my heart, Father I pray that I will not love you just in word, but in deed and truth as well.
May we always remember where all that we have comes from, and who is glorified when we give.
Praise Our Lord God Our Father!
Thankyou for these scriptures.

'and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake'

This one might be tough. Alot of people just want to fit in and I feel that way too sometimes. You really haft to stick to your guns when times get tough though. When Noah was building the Ark I'm sure he didn't have too many friends, at least he had his family though. I don't think he had time to go out and try to convert those that were caught up with the fallen angels.

'and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake'

I am already being "attacked" on some forums, and have been bullied in many classrooms for being christian.... and I more and more often think about this...

A guy in my class said the other day he thinks all religious discussion should be banned in schools (But he thiks political ones are OK....)
and I was think about the fact that he will probably have his will soon... and that scares me...

threatened? by himself then? HE started the discussions saying believing in God is like hearing voices... and then later said discussing religion should be banned....

The only way to know that you are doing as God desires is to follow the Spirit. In Him we have the mind of Christ, and the heart of the Father. This is the only rock upon which we can stand, the direct communication that God has opened with us in His Spirit. To help when God wishes us to help is righteousness, to help when God does not is sin. It is by the power of the Spirit that we are putting to death the deeds of the flesh, and even the nature of the flesh, which would include fear and greed and worry and every other thing which would keep us from doing the works of God.

This is the way that Jesus walked in this world. Did He help everyone He saw? He said of Himself that He did what He saw His Father in heaven doing. We can have no higher aim, nor a better example. Do we believe?

In His peace,

I wonder alot about something Jesus said. He told us in scripture that we would be able to do as he has and even greater than this.
I am seeing and hearing so much the same miricals among many newly saved to the long time christians.
They are having dreams, a sence that time is short, a power to witness that they know is not from them but from God.
Many more things , what amazes me is the common thread of knowladge that all have wether they have learned the scriptures or not.
Also a common understanding even though they have not spoken to other christians.
I firmly believe we will see great miricals in the days to come.
Even though at the same time there will be great difficulties.
Sometimes it seems scarey, but with these events I know we as the children of God will witness such great works and miricals as never before!
What a great blessing to be a part of such wonders!
To be presant for such as this of Our Lord Jesus!
As a child I remember wishing I could have been there when Jesus was here on earth.
At age five I asked If I could give my life in his name and for the sake of others.
It might be that he will hold me to it.
But what great wonders will we get to see and be apart of?
I see more now in the days ahead not a time of trial, but a time of great glory to Our Lord God.
Let us not fear but celibrate!
God bless, pickles

I also wish I could die for Christ, but a little word of wisdom made me realize something... being willing to die for him is not necessarily what He wants
(Even though it is of course good to have such faith that one is willing to die for it, no doubt about it!)

but, like the word of wisdom said:

"A brave man is willing to die for a cause
A wise man is willing to live for it"

I was gonna say you could be a living sacrifice, a person who is dead while living. I remember hearing a missionary saying once when he was about to be killed, that dying for Christ seemed very easy, but being a living sacrifice, that was certainly a lot harder.
