Eating the fruit of the tree of knowing good and evil cuts us off from the life that's in God. Being morally good or evil is just being a natural man or woman. Self centered either way and is where the pride of life comes to play. People pride themselves on how good they are and the good things they do.

All for self glory.

Evil is just perverted self rule.

Not sure it is actually possible to make such a claim.
Contemplating the wisdom of God through the law is a blessed and holy thing.

Honouring God through the love flowing from us, is not human behaviour, because
only in Christ is this love found in this way.

The trouble of an analogy with trees in eden is just picture language that does not
work. Once you have eaten from either tree it is a permanent condition.
We have all eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but only now in
Christ is the law of Christ written on our hearts.

The tree of life is the life and death of Christ. It brings freedom from the slavery
of sin and death, into the kingdom of slavery to righteousness and love.

Freedom, not slavery.
It is an interesting play on words Paul uses.
Freedom is to have good relationships, to flow in purity, joy, grace, patience
faithfulness, healed hurts, knowing one is loved and can love others freely
and openly.

Paul used the idea sin makes us a slave to its behaviour with walking in the Spirit
makes us a slave to righteousness, which is also freedom, but with limits.

You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

This language is very different from my own experience of people

I look at people as a life potential. We are given life and make the best we can as we
learn. No rule book, just follow what is put in front of you and what seems to work.
So sheep aimlessly walking around, finding sympathy but in the end falling victim to one
or another trap.

Then Jesus dawns. A defined purpose, direction, focus, life, communion, structure.
And the value was we were sheep astray, and now am found and alive. And the difference
is night and day, but people have value. But that value becomes meaningless without God,
but unbelievers live in a twilight world of not knowing, yet aware something is wrong, but they
are not sure what.

What I have found is those without Christ tend to be a patchwork quilt of chaos, and conflict
covered over with a nice superficial social face. So if truth dawns, and the cover is removed
nothing adds up and just disappears into a heap. Jesus is about new life and total resolution,
becoming real on the inside as you are on the outside.

When I look at anybody they are all potential children of the Father, but to start the walk
is the only way. This is a very different outline, but it has driven my life, and has got stronger
the more I have learnt.
My studies and listening to the Lord tells me almost the same thing, but in a very different way. You speak of Christ as if He is the only manifestation of God, to me we must know Christ as He was at the beginning of time, also. Christ is so powerful that for 4,000 years of life on the earth as all of God created it, the blood He shed and what He did to pay for our sins resulted in even the symbol of that giving atonement.

It is the Father and scripture that Christ refers us to so we will understand Him.

It is through the word that our hearts are opened to the Lord. There are examples of children who grow up without adults teaching them, and especially in the Jewish race we see children taught to memorize and learn of God from the earliest age. We are told of the difference in these children. When we humbly study we are following God's way. To study only the NT and not the scripture used as the base for that work then we must use our own ideas and not the Lord's to understand what it is speaking about.

So by accepting God, following what God says we live in the real world as it was created to be. We are given scripture to tell us how we can live successfully in that world. Without this knowledge and discipline people flounder about unsuccessfully in a pretend world, thinking they achieve success when their false goals are achieved. For us the law of the Lord guides us.

Because we have the knowledge of sin within us, it is necessary for us to follow the Lord's teaching to renew ourselves daily with all the Lord's Prayer has us do.

We cannot lose our salvation if we trully believe Jesus died for all sins. Think about this Jesus died for us 2, 000 years ago we werent even born so all sins are forgiven. If we could lose our salvation than it wouldnt be eternal salvation it would be temporary. We do the works out of obience Jesus working through HIMSELF. period. I dont want to hear we cannot lose our salvation the only way is we were never among them and just working for a place in heaven. Just believe Jesus did it all. HE PAID IT ALL WITH HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD!!!!!!!!!
