Not positiv thinking changes us! For positiv thinking you dont need Jesus! Many people follow positiv thinking without having to do something with Jesus Christ. I would say that what Jesus allone can change in us, no positiv thinking can.! Positiv thinking is for me a kind of self illusion which denyes the reality. And put the focus on myself instead of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul is saying that Lord gives him strength to endure everything, to be hungry and to be fed, to live in plenty or in a need.

Jesus said in another place that the children of the world are wiser than the children of light.

Because many children of Light are acting very naively and do not prepare for bad circumstances.

There is a different. Overcome evil with good. Is not positiv thinking. We can not change a sinful, godless world through positiv thinking. We cant do anything, if God is not enable us to do it. His task for us is to tell the Gospel to lost people and not to save a dying world through positiv thinking. Which finally doesnt work!

Has anyone here sat down and dissected just exactly what that verse was talking about? A lot of us tend to take it as saying we can do ANYTHING because Christ strengthens us.

But, does it really mean that?

I think this is a lot like the verse about telling a mountain to jump into the sea. The parlor trick of going around displacing huge piles of earth is not what that verse means either.

Hi BMM, I've never been a big reader of Norman V.P. But most of the elderly ladies I've worked with over the years had his picture books with nice sayings on their coffee table.

I do however think your post asks a good question. What with the world full of hopelessness and bad news and confusion isn't it a Christian's reasonable service to be positive in a negative world. I mean if any group of people should be positive thinkers it should be us! We have everything to be positive about. We have Jesus!
We have His promises., we have His righteousness., we have His LOVE!!

It is a JOY to realize that Psalm 23 is not for dead people., but for us alive believers. I have learned to take those words to heart and say them in faith. It dawned on me that the Lord IS my Shepherd and I shall NOT want. It's AWESOME!!!!! I also like the way the amplified Bible puts the whole chapter. Will post it. Thank you for asking the question because seriously., we have so much to be positive about. And the word "Positive" is not a new age word.


Also., there will be no enemies to set a table before when we get to heaven so that is another good and positive truth to think on. Jesus sets a table for us here and now. He is our Good Shepherd right now as well as when we get to heaven.

Considering Jesus kept saying he does only what he sees his Father doing, I think the "through Christ" is the hinge to the verse. He's not doing anything apart from God, so he's not going to be strengthening us to do something apart from God.

Considering she has already started and is going to try and convince someone who doesn't know the word or the Lord yet to follow her beliefs, nope. Really not going to stand by and watch while she does that.

before one is 'called-chosen-elected', yes positive things can happen, but they are never Godly/positive
things in themselves, but can only be 'worldly' in their expressions...'after conversion', yes, we fall and fail, but
our hearts/intentions are quite 'different' via, virtue, thankfulness, being a priority', only because we know for sure
that Jesus Christ is sitting on the right hand of God to inter-cede for us as our Holy Crucified Saviour
when we come to Him in 'repentance'...
it's a 'life-time journey, that our Heavenly Father has chosen for His family...
