I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale in his books on Positive thinking beautifully explains in a biblical way how positive thinking can change your life.
When the world, media is populated with lot of negative news all around Are Christians Positive thinkers in a negative world?
When we say The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want
Do we really say in faith.
Hi BMM, I've never been a big reader of Norman V.P. But most of the elderly ladies I've worked with over the years had his picture books with nice sayings on their coffee table.
I do however think your post asks a good question. What with the world full of hopelessness and bad news and confusion isn't it a Christian's reasonable service to be positive in a negative world. I mean if any group of people should be positive thinkers it should be us! We have everything to be positive about. We have Jesus!
We have His promises., we have His righteousness., we have His LOVE!!
It is a JOY to realize that Psalm 23 is not for dead people., but for us alive believers. I have learned to take those words to heart and say them in faith. It dawned on me that the Lord IS my Shepherd and I shall NOT want. It's AWESOME!!!!! I also like the way the amplified Bible puts the whole chapter. Will post it. Thank you for asking the question because seriously., we have so much to be positive about. And the word "Positive" is not a new age word.
Also., there will be no enemies to set a table before when we get to heaven so that is another good and positive truth to think on. Jesus sets a table for us here and now. He is our Good Shepherd right now as well as when we get to heaven.
The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me],
I shall not want.

He lets me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still
and quiet waters.

He refreshes
and restores my soul (life);
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
for His name’s sake.

I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort
and console me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

Surely goodness and mercy
and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house
and in the presence of the Lord.
