So the title of this thread is a rhetorical question, and you are going to teach us all? From Jimmy Swaggart’s play book?

anyone else get the feeling this is just a platform to preach and not really a dialogue?

if the Holy Spirit doesn't "automatically" work, do you have the "activation" button?
There is this scammer phone call I get about once a month. Supposedly a charity that gives money to fight breast cancer, but I did a search and found out 10% of the money raised actually goes to cancer research. The rest goes to the scammer.

It's a women's voice. Very chipper. And it goes like this:

Me: Hello?

"Hey, Lynn."

A pause.

"Oh, you're not Lynn? (laughter.) No matter, I'm just calling because I'm a certified fundraiser...."

It's a recording, and apparently I'm never supposed to be the one answer the phone.

(Very annoying, because my legal name is not Lynn, so they picked up the name in some illegal way.)

Feels like this thread. No human contact required.

How does a Christian receive the help of the Holy Spirit after salvation?

If no man can come to the Son except the Father that sent him draws him [SUP]1[/SUP], and no can come to the Father except by the Son [SUP]2[/SUP], then unless the Holy Ghost reveals it [SUP]3[/SUP], no man knows the Son, but Father, and no man knows the Father, save the Son.
_____________________
1 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44
2 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
3 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Matt 11:27

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. 1 John 3:8

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.1 John 3:9

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:13

And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. John 13:27

Most born-again Christians do not know how to live for God. They are a defeated Christian living in the "Law of the Sin and Death (Rom. 8:2)." They believe in laboring for reward and do not understand Faith and Grace. My question is, how does a Child of God live for God after salvation?
Romans 1:16-17 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

We live by faith, we are saved by grace and live by faith. Ephesians 2:5c, 8 “by grace you have been saved—8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,”

Romans 12:1-2
King James Version(KJV)

1.)I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2.) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

A lot of people teach justification and jump to Glorification and skip Sanctification because it means a new life.

Sanctification is the change that Christ does in us as a result of surrendering our hearts to Him. Born again, be renewed, transformed, living in the Spirit and not the flesh. This is the battle of the flesh, this is hard and impossible for us without the Spirit of God in us. But Jesus will give you the victory if you give Him your heart.
Eph_4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Col_3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Is redemption centered up in the Cross of Christ or the Resurrection of Christ?

Answer:

Redemption is centered up totally in the Cross of Christ. While everything else after the Cross, the Resurrection, Ascension, and Exaltation of Christ, played a tremendous part, and continues to play a tremendous part, the truth is, all of this is made possible, the Resurrection, Ascension and Exaltation of Christ, because of the Cross.

Victory = The Cross of Christ, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, i.e., The Finished Work
Redemption is similar to Justification which yes is centered on the Cross.

Santification is centered on being born again and walking with the Holy spirit which ties to Jesus ressurection,a ascension and sending the Holy spirit after His ratification of the New covenant in Heaven.

Let's have a review...

Does the Holy Spirit work automatically in a Christians life after I am born-again?

No! If the work of the Holy Spirit was automatic, no Christian would ever fail. Faith in Christ and the Cross unlocks the door for Grace, the work of the Holy Spirit power and help.
if the Holy Spirit doesn't "automatically" work, do you have the "activation" button?

Yes! Faith in who Jesus is and what Jesus has done at Calvary's Cross where the victory was won activates the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Examine your own words and you may find out that your premise is wrong.....if a person is a Christian they accepted Jesus and what He did upon the Cross for them. They have the Holy Spirit leading and guiding them. It is automatic because they would not be Christian if they did not already "push the activation button" you listed.

Anyway a wise person told me once that one shouldn't engage in debates with anyone who is already talking to themselves...

Hope God shines His light of understanding upon it all. Will lift you up in prayer.

1 John 3:23 - This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 - Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. 15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

2 Peter 3:18 - but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. :)

Wow you are way off, justification is centered on the ressurection Romans 4:25 “who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.”

The cross is the negitive side of our salvation and His resurrection is the positive side of our salvation. Being born again is the Father's work that opens our eyes to His kingdom.

John 3:3 “Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” You need to be born again to be able to see the kingdom of God and that is done by the work of the Father,

I Peter 1:3
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”

The Father made us alive or born again with Christ in His resurrection and it was not by works, we have been prepared for good works that the Father prepared for us, which is our sactification. We are born again because of the great love with which the Father loved us and His mercy.

Ephesians 2:4-5, 8-10 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved....
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

We are sactified by the Spirit, but we live by faith after being born again by His grace. Romans 1:17

“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith,[as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” We live by faith or as Ephesians 2:8 puts it, “For by grace you have been saved through faith” if we look at verse 5 we see that we are saved by grace, verse 5 "by grace you have been saved." we are initially saved by grace or His mercy and we live by faith in that grace.

Our sanctification is by the work of the Spirit in us. I Peter 1:2 “according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:”

It is God working in us, Philippians 2:12-13 “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”

Hebrews 9:13-14 “For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh,14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.”

It is our sanctification that purifies our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Brother you really need to look to the Scriptures for you doctrine, because if you make statements that are things you have heard or you think are right, but are not based in Scripture it opens you up for correction by the Scriptures to the truth of what the Scriptures teach.

Why did Paul warn the Believer by stating:

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain (Gal. 2:21).

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace (Gal. 5:4).

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption (Eph. 4:30).

KJV Dictionary Definition: SANCTIFICA'TION, n.

A. The act of making holy, the act of consecrating or of setting apart for a sacred purpose; consecration.

The moment we believe/trust place our faith in Christ's redemptive, sin atoning death, burial & resurrection. God SAVES (justifies=declares us righteous), SEALS us with His Holy spirit (Eph 1:13, 2 Cor 1:22 Refer to the Holy Spirit as a SEAL. 2 Cor 5:5, Eph 1:14 & 2 Cor 1:22. Refer to the Holy Spirit as "the earnest" = A Pledge/Promise/Down Payment we're SEALED onto lay-a-way. Eph 4:30 Explains you've been SEALED until the final day of redemption). And thru SANCTIFICATION God sets us apart, for a work/mission Eph 2:10. And this mission continues until the final day of redemption

Acts 26:18 To open gentiles eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are ""sanctified by faith""" that is in me.

1Cor 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, """to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus""",

1Cor 6:11 Ye are washed """ye are sanctified""" ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus & by the Spirit of our God.

Sanctification is an instantaneous transaction that begins at salvation. Also a process that continues until our final day of redemption.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit

Thought's on how to successfully work through the sanctification process:

Water Baptism, weekly Communion, daily worship-prayer-reading & meditating on God's word, praise & thanksgiving unto the Father in Jesus name. Fellowship with other believers. Giving to God's work & others, finances, time, talents & sharing God's loving grace = Jesus Christ with believers & non-believers

^^^This attempts to cover OP's Sanctification question.^^^

Below is overall related info on the following:

Salvation/Justification/Sanctification/Redemption

I will assume those reading this are saved. If not see Rom 10:9-10 & 1 Cor 15:1-4 & learn how.

Birth & Death (Psysical) are instantaneous transactions.

New birth (Spiritual/Born Again) = Salvation/Justification/Sanctification/Redemption/Redemption are all instantaneous transactions & all happen at the same time.

Salvation/Justification are finished instantaneous transactions. Sanctification & Redemption are both a process that continue until the final day of redemption. When your corruptible flesh & blood body become incorruptible Spiritual Bodies. 1 Cor 15:53-54

KJV Dictionary Definition: SALVA'TION, n. L. salvo, to save.

A. The act of saving; preservation from destruction, danger or great calamity.

B. Appropriately in theology, the redemption of man from the bondage of sin and liability to eternal death, and the conferring on him everlasting happiness. This is the great salvation.

KJV Dictionary Definition: JUSTIFICA'TION, n.

A. In theology, remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; or an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of the atonement of Christ

2nd SANCTIFICA'TION explained above

KJV Dictionary Definition: REDEMP'TION, n.

A. In theology, the purchase of God's favor by the death and sufferings of Christ; the ransom or deliverance of sinners from the bondage of sin and the penalties of God's violated law by the atonement of Christ. In whom we have redemption through his blood. Eph 1:7, 1 Jn 1:7, Rev 1:5

I actually agree that Salvation should include the resurrection. so i am unsure why you are directing your words towards me.

I was asking Message if HE included everything that Jesus did AFTER the cross into his theology......

so what exactly WAY OFF about asking him?

Wow you are way off, justification is centered on the ressurection Romans 4:25 “who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.”

What make you think Christians fail?
Because we do not have a Glorified Body yet (Rom. 3:23 - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God).
The Holy Spirit within us desires to change our thinking and empower us for the work God has given us. But, we are still able to thwart and/or grieve the Holy Spirit. We need to learn to submit ourselves to the changes God is making and desires to make within us. When we resist the work of the Holy Spirit, we bring chastening on ourselves.

there's no way a mere man can determine what events God holds most Holy above another...

for us, we Love and Adore our Saviour for all that He has done for us, but just knowing that
His on-going Love for us after the Cross, that He is continually sitting on the 'right Hand of God' to
intercede for us daily, is most profound and greatly appreciated, as He has made a continual way for
us to come to Him in 'repentance' and that He asks The Father to forgive us...

'For if when we were enemies, we were 'reconciled' to God by the death of His Son, much more,
being 'reconciled', we shall be saved by His LIFE'.

We are reconciled to God by the death of His Son, this is the WORK of the CROSS in a nut-shell...
