Thank you for this post. People who are addicted to nicotine need all the help and encouragement they can get.

Nicotine is the most wonderful tranquilizer of any, the problem is that the way it soothes is gone in a flash and it becomes an irritant that can only be soothed by more nicotine. It makes the body crave nicotine.

I sincerely quit smoking at least 5,200 times, every night for over 20 hears, and started smoking that many times for my prayer life was taken up with a plea to be rid of the addiction. When I finally rid myself of it, it was because I had so overindulged a night I was so upset I back to back smoked. (The doctor had misdiagnosed by husband as being terminally ill) I landed in the hospital with nicotine poisoning.

I don't think there is any doubt smoking is no way to grow spiritually. Our body is a temple of God, not to be damaged with such smelly things. But our way of handling the addiction can be worse than the addiction itself.
Yes, and the way we treat Christians who smoke says more about us than the smoker. There really is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.

About quitting smoking, the video below is one of Joyce Meyer. It is not intended to help anyone quit smoking, I am just including it so people get a sample of her understanding of the Word, then I will make the connection to quitting smoking.

One day I was in my home in Chicago when I turned on the tube to see this woman preaching. Wow! Can you imagine, a WOMAN preaching.

She told me, as I sat there smoking a cigarette, one of the three pack a day habbit I had, jst how to quit smoking. Now she was not referring directly to smoking, but to quitting any kind of sin, minor or major.

She said, want to honor our Father I should put my sin on the altar , that is the cross, and it will be consumed by fire creating a sweet aroma to our Father. The presence of the Holy Spirit was so strong and loving, I put out my cigasrette putting it on the Cross, and dI have not wanted to smoke since. That was after thirty years of habit, with a break of three years. I have not been near a cigarette since, that was twenty-seven years ago.

Now there are many who talk against this woman, but many talk against all saints, so that and a dollar will not get you a hamburger. I truly enjoy this woman, this sister, this saint. If people do not agree with her, well this has always been the case with the Entire Bible, so not to owrry about hearing her. The lord will be the understanding or you simply will not accept all.

lol im well oiled to like 1 bottle a week for me haha. i do like joyce, she trys her hardest.

its 6 months for me now since my last cigarette. quite often tho people get angry but that is human emotion, but people should not expect not to get angry because there christian. being a christian does not make a person God, and christians will lose there cool just like anyone else, but anger is associated with rage. To judge a person for there social moral conduction in emotions is ok if your trying to help that person i Guess, but to Judge a person whos trying to help is also not right.

I suppose quite often we probably do Judge people who are trying to help tho, for the reason being we dont always know that people are trying to help, or some times with in there help there is a subtle rebuke we dont take to well, we have to examine the spirit to see if the subtle rebuke is Of God, or whether it is not as well, so we do have to Judge, even if a person in helping in some way i guess.

I have felt many times tho that Joyce is sincere in trying to help out. And i guess she is really just another one of Gods little helpers, who calls for unity, she speaks about unity quite well., She is definately chosen from God, i do see a wondeful kind warm spirit in her, i have read a book of hers also called healing the soul, such a wondeful book and very nice, if you get chance read it. well worth it.

Going back to smoking now @JaumeJ may i just say well done for quitting, and im so glad you found God.

Hi all dear brother and sisters. If smoking ciggerettes was classed as a sin, would you obey that law ?

Firstly there is no mention of smoking ciggerettes in our bible, so i can only assume they where not invented then.

However i need to ask the question, why is adultery the only sin you can commit against your own body.

KJ21
Flee fornication. Every other sin which a man doeth is outside the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

I have a strong belief that the five sences of the body all get defiled and polluted when you smoke cigerettes, thus making smoking ciggerettes a sin against the body (the flesh) which then gives a demon the ability to possess the flesh of the body. would this be the same for adultery,

I think Jesus knew one sows what they reap. Thus I do not think he would smoke.
I do not smoke. I do not think smoking is a sin since there is no command in scripture against it.
But, it is a very bad idea.

scary,, but 80 tons of tobacco is nothing compared to how much a nation consumes.

May i ask if you dont believe smoking cigarettes is a sin do you believe smoking could be temptation from the devil to defile your body.

No, it is the chemical addition that is the problem. It is a medical problem.
