Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Christ will stand on the Mount of Olives when He returns. That is where we assemble to worship Him, not in the clouds created of water vapor in the sky.

The word "air" is "aer' which refers to the lower atmosphere. It is from 6000 ft. down to earth. So at the rapture Christ will come to at least 6000 ft. from earth to meet the saints at the resurrection.
